Send him to Siberia and all this will stop, except for a tiny bunch that will always from here on out believe this was rigged. They want war. And I get the feeling it doesn't matter what the fight is.
No, it won't. This has been building since Reagan. Look how many conservatives simply deny global warming. Look at the popularity of challenges to Obama's citizenship. I don't believe Trump was the cause. He was a popular candidate because half the population had already abandoned objective truth. Republican leaders were OK with it because it got them elected. I think some are beginning to regret the bargain, but it's by no means clear that it's over.

Yep, Trump is the inevitable symptom and result but not the root cause.

Trump was the instigator for this attempted coup. It is he that wants to steal the election, it is he that wants to maintain his presidency, it is he that is desperately trying to avoid those over a dozen lawsuits waiting for him Jan 21, it is he that can not stand to loose---at anything! His niece has been proven right.

He also told them that he'd be going with them. And they apparently believed him.

LOL! They always believe him--just like those silly people who paid $1,000 each to go to his new years party which he said he would go to--Instead, he did the usual---took the money and ran!!

He needs the money. He has hundreds of millions of dollars in personal debt coming due soon, with no cash flow to pay for them. He's fleecing suckers by draining their contributions out of a supposed political fund.

Trump didn't encourage violence. He immediately spoke against it when it began, and urged people to remain law abiding and peaceful.

There is much evidence that many of these troublemakers were infiltrators and plants.

Believe what you want. Truth has little value around here.
He talked about "walking down to the capitol" (why?) and "stopping the steal" (how?)
"you'll never take your country back with weakness you have to show strength and you have to be strong"
Ok he didn't order them to break into the capitol and the chamber (he's not that stupid) but the implication was as clear as crystal

He didn't walk down with them (as he promised) and where is the convincing evidence he promised?

How is telling people to go to the capital equate to inciting a riot? I mean did I miss something? Did Trump tell these people to do anything violent or illegal when they arrived there?
How were they going to "stop the (alleged) steal" when they got there?

By protesting, the same way people band together to stop everything else. Don’t get me wrong I think protesting was a stupid idea to begin with. Trump lost and he should just accept that fact. Nothing is going to change that.

The members of congress wouldn't even know they were there unless they stormed the building, and there's no reason to think the members of congress would stop the democratic process because of a protest outside the building, even if they were informed there was a protest.

I'm also puzzled how the terrorists whom Trump said he "loved" one day and were "special people" the next day are now guilty of a "heinous attack" on the capitol and "do not represent" the USA.

This was to be Trump's March on Rome. But the difference was, Mussolini actually had the courage to lead the mob personally. That's more courage than Bunker Boy can summon up.

Trump's love is conditional on the circumstances. There's no one he won't betray if he thinks he can gain something from it. The terrorists were his friends only insofar as they achieved his objectives. When they failed, he turned on them.

I agree that the protest was a stupid idea. It’s completely irrelevant to the outcome of the election. I don’t care how many people protested if Biden won the election their protest is irrelevant. There’s an area near where I live where Trump supporters meet every weekend and fly their Trump support banners and signs and I always think to myself what do these people think they’re going to accomplish. Trump lost, get over it and move on. This seems like such a childish mentality to refuse to accept that the majority of the US population voted against Trump. This nation doesn’t revolve around what I want it revolves around what the majority wants so we should accept it and deal with it like educated adults. But it’s one thing to stand against what these Trump supporters are doing and another thing to make false accusations against Trump with no evidence to support them. It is equally childish to say that there was some sort of mass conspiracy or collaboration to storm the capital in an attempt to overthrow the US government solely based on Trump’s statement to “stop the steal”. That is hardly evidence of inciting a riot or some sort of rebellious coup. Accusations like these are just as childish and lacking any honest intelligent assessment of the situation. Any time you have masses of people in support of any cause there will be extremist idiots within the group. We shouldn’t allow these few individuals define the motives of the entire group. That’s just unintelligent stereotypical bigotry just like the people who claim that all blacks are criminals because of the actions of a few and equally as bad as those who claim all police officers are racist and violent based on the actions of a few. People need to see the facts and address them as they actually present themselves instead of inflating the situation by exaggerating the truth and stop being dishonest just so they can bash their opponents with false accusations.

I agree that the protest was a stupid idea.

It was sedition against the United States and the Constitution.

It is equally childish to say that there was some sort of mass conspiracy or collaboration to storm the capital in an attempt to overthrow the US government solely based on Trump’s statement to “stop the steal”.

That was the goal. If Congress had been intimidated, it would have worked. Fortunately, most held to their oaths and carried on in spite of the insurrection. Which doomed the whole scheme.

I still think Trump is mostly focused on himself, and doesn't think about the implications of his actions. When given to that crowd, those comments were an incitement to riot. But I don't believe he intended the results he got. This makes him unsafe as a President, but not intentionally seditious.
