1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." Well what if someone who commits the unpardonable sin confesses their sin?
IMHO if someone has committed the unforgivable sin their heart and conscious would be so seared and empty the farthest thing from their mind would be praying to God. To them the only purpose for the word "God" is as a curse word.

Their are different interpretations of that but one that sticks is unrepentance is the unforgiveable sin. So if that is true then problem solved....

I think other ones are similar but dealing with hardness of heart, so much that you are attributing the obvious work of God to demons or Satan. But if you realize you are wrong then that likewise would be problem solved, because that largely was the position that Saint Paul had prior to his conversion (The Talmud attributes the miracles of Jesus to sorcery his family learned in Egypt so I'm sure that was what he and most of the Pharisees thought at the time).

And then there is accepting the Mark of the Beast.... but in my interpretation of that you basically are deliberately violating you conscience as a Christian or at least a person in general and doing so purely out of your own desire for safety, fleshly needs etc. and well the passage that says that says (in paraphrase) "if we reject Christ, he will reject us on judgement day" speaks to that. You had at least better have repented of that prior to death... But like many things, hardness of heart can be a big problem in all of this.

If the individual confesses their sin, then it means that they no longer are blaspheming the Holy Spirit - otherwise they would not believe that they were sinning. Once they realise what they've done and repent, God will forgive them. It helps to remember that God is far more gracious and merciful than we are.

That might be like asking, what if someone who has already been made immortal decides they no longer want to be immortal, but want to die instead. That would be impossible at that point, since that would contradict what immortality means. In the same way, anything unpardonable can't then somehow become pardonable later on, since that contradicts what unpardonable means.

The unpardonable sin is rejecting the testimony of the Holy Spirit, calling it the false testimony of someone/something else.

You can't be saved without the Holy Spirit, so rejecting him locks you up in condemnation.

I know what it is. In context, (very important) it is calling the work of God the work of the devil. If you quit blaspheming, then you are no longer sinning. Remember the apostle Paul? He hated the gospel so much that he murdered those who preached it. God forgave him.

Yes, if you quit rejecting the testimony of the Holy Spirit, you can be saved.

Mat_12:31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.

That is why it is unforgiveable---Jesus said so, it is His call, not ours. They are unable to repent. They have grieved away the Holy Spirit, and are no longer able to come to repentance as it is the Holy Spirit that brings us to repentance, without it, we are not able to come to repentance.

So the Apostle Paul could not be saved. Bummer

What has Paul got to do with this? He had not grieved away the Holy Spirit or he would not have believed his vision and followed after God. If you are able to repent, you still have the Holy Spirit---if you don't have it, you can't repent.

Murdering Christians does not grieve the Holy Spirit? You've got it back to front. You can only receive the Holy Spirit after you repent. Acts 2:38. The Holy Spirit brings conviction of sin. The sinner repents and receives Christ. Or not. I know people who are convicted but have yet to receive Christ. The price is too high. Maybe they will give in before they pass away and it is too late.

Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is the deliberate and persistent repudiation of Jesus’ saving work. It occurs when an individual willfully and obstinately resists the Spirit’s testimony to Christ and His salvation and grace.

Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is committed only in the context of an attitude of persistent unbelief and open hostility toward Jesus. Blaspheming the Holy Spirit is not a single episode; it is a determined way of life.

It's a very specific sort of calling the work of God the work of the devil, though, as the statements serve as warning of what the Pharisee's were approaching. It is not merely misappropriation of credit, but conviction that spiritual wonders wrought by the Holy Spirit are in fact the devil's work. Whether this is something that can be recovered from and regretted is speculative at best, but the text says it will not be forgiven. Likely it is that it is a sin that sears the conscience and removes sensitivity to the things of God entirely rendering true conviction and confession of sins an impossibility, but in any case we know that it will not be forgiven.

Are you frightened for yourself or for someone close to you?

Basically a Christian will Not commit that sin. The very fact that Christians are concerned about not doing it means they won't.

If they should do so while high, or drunk or while I'll, God knows the motive behind our every action and so will know whether they meant it or it was just the drink talking. ( A good reason for obeying scripture and not getting high or drunk. )

God sent his son to in red go horrendous experiences so he could save you or me. He is not going to let any of us slip through his fingers just because we can't learn to control our tongues.

If you want to be precise, the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is attributing the work of the Holy Spirit to demons. This was a big issue at one time before Pentecostalism became mainstream. Some were saying that speaking in tongues is of the devil, for example. Some of those people, including the pastor of a church I attended, had a change of heart and repented. He began preaching the Baptism of the Holy Spirit as a separate experience - quite a change for a Baptist. Did God forgive him? I say yes. The Blasphemy ceases, so why would God continue to withhold forgiveness? God is far more gracious and merciful than many people believe Him to be.

No, you don't know that. Forgiveness is available when the individual quits blaspheming.

If we take the words of Jesus seriously, we know it. He said "any blasphemy and sin can be forgiven. But blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven." There's no wiggle room, it will not be forgiven.
