Hello, I am new to the forum. I am not posting this in order to troll or start a nasty argument. I am doing research for an undergrad research project, and I am hoping that you guys might be able to help me out. If you could answer the following questions survey style, I would appreciate it.

1. Do you consider yourself a Fundamentalist?

2. How old are you?

3. Do you agree with this statement: It is better for a preacher NOT to go to Bible college and/or seminary?

4. Do you agree with this statement: I am not opposed to Bible college and/or seminary. However, I think that in many (or most) cases, a preacher is better off without them?

5. Do you agree with this statement: A preacher should not go to Bible college or seminary, but should receive formal training in addition to the weekly church teaching program (such as a Bible institute)?

6. If you answered yes to number 3, 4 or 5, you can help me by providing a single-sentence reason why you believe this way.

7. Any other comments? Links to articles, etc.?

Thanks!

I voted for depends on the situation.

No I can't say 'keep our preachers out of there" How do I know.....depending on what they're teaching and who is teaching, are they really anointed and empowered people of God...you can even have the right doctrines but not have a right and good spirit. If they do why couldn't it be a good thing? Perhaps it can be. On the other hand "yes they need an education". Still doesn't mean the Creator needs one to take this from an organized teaching institution. A person can learn by the Spirit and reading scriptures themselves. I saw this many years ago.

One man who never went to Bible College and the standard protocol for the church I was in was to pick new pastors from those who had college credentials. . Thing is though.....everyone in the church KNEW this man if I might put it this way...had the goods. It was so, so very evident the Spirit of God would work through him mightily and he was a person incredibly proficient at understanding the WORD of God. They appointed him as A Pastor choosing to set aside the credentials of men....papers....diplomas, for it was obvious to all who and what he was. His credentials to them was the fruits of his life which could not be denied.

1/
I believe in the fundamental truths of the Christianity.
2/ 64
3,4,+5/ the question make no difference between themselve.

A Christian who thinks he has an ability starts out helping in his church. There his zeal is seen and used and as his ability to teach children is recognised so he is given more opertunities.
Someone in that church will talk to him, or he will talk to the minister about wanting to preach and an opertunity will be found.
The local church will be seeking to bring him and other talented young people on.
His real ability will be recognised, and he will be encouraged to get formal training at a Bible college.
In an ideal world financial help will be provided and after the college a period of employment and in-house practical experience given.

We have done this with 5 young men.

Inky opinion no Christian should just go and go go any form of theological training without the active support and encouragement of there own church.

You're not interested in explanations for a "no" answer? That's telling.

I truly believe anyone who has been saved by the grace of God, will be able to minister unto others how to be saved (the simplicity of the Gospel). That's how you can tell the difference between a born again/saved Christian and a practising Christian.

As for the ministry, that's a calling from God, not from your own heart or desire. The spirit of the trinity intervenes and convinces you that is something you must do. I believe when that happens its also very important to educate yourself in a bible college so you can minister/explain the Gospel to everyone, even to the most hardened hearts, for they are the hearts which are the hardest to break, but once Christ works in them, they could become the best ministers of the Gospel. Look no further than Paul.

god Bless.

I am a Universalist, because I believe in what the Bible says.
Romans 6:23 NIV
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Death, not eternal life in Hell.
Ezekiel 18:20 NIV
The one who sins is the one who will die. Will die, not burn in Hell forever.

Universalism by John Wesley Hanson

“The best way to control the opposition is to lead it ourselves.” ― Lenin.
Apparently Lenin got this advice from Satan. One of the ways Satan has of dealing with his opposition, Christianity, is to lead them. He is doing this by putting his followers in charge of congregations, Bible colleges and seminaries.
Seminary President Admits She Doesn’t Believe in Heaven, Miracles or Christ’s Resurrection
Jerry Falwell Jr 'relieved' to resign after pool boy sex scandal | Daily Mail Online
Ex-BBC Wales presenter and pastor charged with 40 sex offences | Daily Mail Online

The list is endless of news story of men and women that are followers of Satan, not God, leading Christ's flock.

Proverbs, Matthew 5, James.....before a born again Christian preaches on how to be righteous before Jehovah, they must learn how to grow and be righteous themselves.

God learned Adam the way to salvation through Christ, Adam learned his sons and daughters...Cain messed up.

Today we see and hear too many 'feel good' ministries like Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyers, the Pope, etc....bla,bla,bla,...feel good... "Go in peace"...NONSCENCE

A TRUE BELIEVER NEEDS TO BE NOURISHED, WATERED, EDIFIED, CORRECTED, ETC BY THE WORD....TO GROW/LEARN GOD'S HOLY METHOD OF RIGHTEOUSNESS SO THEY CAN TEACH FUTURE GENERATIONS.

I have gone to a fundamental church in the past and have seen Associate Pastors assist. It all depends on how skilled the person is in leading a service, and whether or not they wish to go
to seminary to learn. Some may be good enough at it that it isn't needed while other may need
to learn. It all depends on the person.

Thanks!
