...doesn't this mean the people who are protesting can also bring guns and "stand their ground"? So again, doesn't it it all get down to who's still alive the tell the story?
tulc(is just wondering)
I guess that would depend on the circumstances. If you are a legal gun owner, and your state law gave you permission to carry? That you are in a location that it is not illegal to carry? You can bring your gun - and many have in the past. I've seen them in videos. It was legal there.
Now, that doesn't give you the legal authority to say those people with an opposite POV are a threat...so I will shoot them, because I am a legal gun owner. THEY are a threat to the WORLD and all that jazz doesn't fulfill the definition of the law. That isn't, '“reasonably believed that the force was necessary to prevent injury, loss, or risk to life or safety.” That's just being a murderous idealog.
Now, if you are in a store - or other dwelling - trying to stay away from the protests and were stranded there when it started? Group of nutters broke the glass out and tore down the door - and were coming for you - and others? You would have a reasonable belief they are there to harm you or others. That's a completely different ball of wax.
The law is actually interesting, and you should give it a read. It's not that long. The poster did supply a link.
