That would be the extreme exception, why fixate on that? Even in real life, you don't hear a lot Christians doing that.

It makes the point why it is wrong. Or do you feel it is any more acceptable because it happens rarely ?

Why should someone be allowed to deny critical care for their children because of their own faith ?

Why is this right then not universal ? If you do not cite your devotion and let your kid die you will be charged.

Why do the laws treat people unequally simply because of their chosen faith ?

How could that be right ?

Uhm no. If your neighbors kid dies because his parents deny her the lifesaving treatment based on their belief that little green men would disapprove that kid is still dead.

Most people would not find that giggle worthy and fun.

Isn't that the direction things are going? Children are deemed not worthy of life and the laws are supporting that.

I know of at least 3 atheist who grew up in a Christian family. Then a beloved member died (one of the parent) or a girlfriend. This despite all the begging they did for God to heal them. They became active atheist as a way to hate God for not answering their prayers.

That seems like your own interpretation. Isn’t it likely they just lost faith and decided God didn’t exist ?

If they hate God then clearly they are not atheists.

There seems to be common theme here that not believing is hating.

We don’t hate Zeus or Thor we just don’t believe in them.

No one says it's right. In the real world, social services could step in and take the child from the parents. Why would your one extreme exception justify hate on an entire little green men loving population ;) .

I didn’t know where to put this so I’ll put it here. Many atheists will attack Christians online or in person. They will say everything we believe is false and get so mad when we believe in it. They seek out Christians to mock. If they truly believed Christianity was false, then why would they attack it so much? I don’t believe in aliens, and I don’t go around attacking people that believe in them. (When I say attack I mean with words not physically.)
Deep in their hearts they know Christianity is right.

I think there is a broader issue at play, though I don't want to discount the spiritual aspect of this issue. There is a deep seated hatred of western civilization that has been growing for the last 100 years. The root of western civilization is Christianity. It is Christians who advanced knowledge through universities. It is Christians who were at the forefront of the industrial revolution and the prosperity it has created. It was Christians at the forefront of political and legal advances. If your base viewpoint is a hated of western civilization, by definition you must hate Christianity and be hostile to its adherents.

No they can’t. That’s the whole point. It is illegal. They can’t do anything.

The doctors and hospital would face huge fines if they intervened and violated someone’s religious belief.

Then I could come back at you and also say that seems to be also your interpretation. At least I know the people i'm talking about, so i'm probably closer than your interpretation.

That is the point of the thread, were talking of the attack (hate) on Christianity from atheist. If there wasn't we wouldn't be talking here.

No they can’t. That’s the whole point. It is illegal. They can’t do anything.

A grandparent / relative / friend / neighbor can complain and social services could look into the matter. Not sure if they can do anything legally (as this is just that common), but the pressure is gonna be on the parents from everybody and the media

The doctors and hospital would face huge fines if they intervened and violated someone’s religious belief.

The doctors/hospital cannot do anything without permission, period. Stop pointing to religion alone as the reason people say no.

Unfortunate. There are those rabid extremes on each side.
Just saying that legally everyone should be treated same.

I would like that. Unfortunately, Christian Philosophy & Ethics is one of the CF forums that atheists aren't allowed to participate in, so the best we can do in this thread is talk about atheists in their absence.

Why should we care when atheists criticize Christianity? If their critique is valid, then we should be critiqued. If not, who cares? So long as they have not caused bodily harm or some other significant harm, what they say is nothing more than opinion.

The fact that you had to qualify your use of "attack" is telling. Being critiqued is not an attack, it's a critique. This whole thread is filled with critiques of atheism. If we're going to freely criticize them, then we shouldn't act all hurt when they treat us as we treat them.

I do think Christianity is under attack. Although I haven't experience much personally. Atheists and opponents just seem to be part of the environment. I have known some and the subject has come up, but not to the point of where it got hostile. Mostly they don't bother me. I can respect atheism as a view. Christians frustrate me more than atheists. Probably because I am more involved. It's like my own kid misbehaving is more troublesome to me than some kid down the street misbehaving. I am too detached from the kid down the street to fret much over it.

I remember one guy who said the was an 'anti-theist' rather than atheist - but that kind of implies that there is a god to be against. His attacks were a little less rational, but no less vitriolic than some of the other atheists.

In particular in the past the anonymity afforded by some user name meant that some could be troll-like in the way they acted and get away with it.

Not all were and are like that, but the thoughtful and considerate atheists on discussion forums were a minority group and sometimes even got berated for conceding a point or agreeing with those few of us who were arguing for Christianity.

Essentially those that get mad are fanatics and they get mad because nobody else sees things their way (which must be the only way to see things apparently). Of course if you called them out on this, they'd deny it adamantly.

The end phrase is a good reason why they get mad. Alien spotters don't get tax breaks, or have schools that can pick students or members who oppose abortion or homosexuality or transgenderism or any of the current issues.

I honestly think what might be happening is the fulfillment of the following;
Matt.13
  1. [12] For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.

That's a good question. But aliens don't threaten to interfere with our moral lives, whereas the concept of God does that very thing. People worship freedom now, even though they don't know what to do with it, or never find satisfaction with its promises.
