What shall be the sign of His coming….or rather “PRESENCE” (Greek: Parousia)?

Matthew 24:3 KJV
(3) And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

The Lord comes to open up the Scriptures in the Truth (the Scripture of Truth) to our hearing ears and so how shall we know it is Him speaking (His Voice) and not the voice of strangers…. false prophets ….that He had warned us about?

The disciples heard a Voice which came from Heaven that told them that this was His beloved Son whom they were to hear. This authenticated Jesus as the true Son of God in their hearing ears. God's witness of His Son to the disciples was not questioned.

Matthew 17:5 KJV
(5) While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him
.

Again, they heard a Voice from Heaven declaring that this is the authentic Son of God in whom God is well pleased.

2 Peter 1:16-21 KJV
(16) For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
(17) For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
(18) And this voice which came from heaven we heard,
when we were with him in the holy mount.

But today, we have a more sure “word” of prophecy. We have a very personal authentication of the presence of His Son when we hear His voice.

We shall know that this is the true Son of God speaking to us from Heaven in the Voice of the Spirit of Truth by the Light that shall shine in the darkness of our very own hearts when we hear His Voice speaking to us from Heaven as He interprets the Scripture in truth.

The “day star” = the bright and morning star arising in our very own hearts.

The “Bright and Morning Star”…..this is the “sign” of the Son of man in the heavens (in those who are focused on the things above). We are to “take heed” when we hear His Voice and see the arising Light shining within our very own hearts. This “sign” is the sign of authentication of the true Son of God sent by God to shine within our hearts. This is the witness of God within our very own hearts signifying that this is His Son whom we are to hear…to take heed to.

(19) We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
(20) Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
(21) For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

His presence is as the “lightning coming out the east and shining unto the west”.

The “lightning” = the beams of light shooting forth within the heart. The “east” = rising of light…the dawning morning star. The “west” = where the sun had previously gone down (in darkness).

We shall know that we are in the Son of man’s presence (the coming of the Son of man) by the light dawning and shooting forth within our once darkened hearts.

Matthew 24:25-27 KJV
(25) Behold, I have told you before.
(26) Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.
(27) For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

This is why Jesus stated that He is the “Bright and Morning Star” as it was the sign to His people of His true presence (as compared to the presence of false prophets who do not have this authentication).

The sign shall “appear”…that is, shall SHINE. His sign shall shine in the heavens.

Matthew 24:30 KJV
(30) And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

His sign shall shine in the heavens….where His people have their citizenship already.

The “heavens” are His people (on this earth) who are focused on those things above. Their hearts are there already….and so His sign of His presence shall shine within their very own hearts in His presence when they shall hear His voice speaking to them.

Our “Conversation is in heaven” = our citizenship is in heaven.

Philippians 3:20 KJV
(20) For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

Our heart should be focused on those things which are above and not on those things below where the false prophets (the thieves) have ample opportunity to use the earthly things we focus on to deceive us and lead us away from the road that leads to His Life now.

Matthew 6:20-21 KJV
(20) But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
(21) For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Those who "dwell on the earth"...focusing on earthly things and behaving earthly (in envy and strife and hatred of one another)...shall "mourn" what they hear His voice saying. The "tribes of the earth" shall mourn His words of life and spirit as they will not agree with them and contend with the Word of Truth.

The false prophets do not have this authenticating-of-the-true-Son effect within our hearts.

They have to use outward “signs” to deceive us into listening to them. They use powerful “big signs” such as literal water baptism in order to deceive the very elect into listening to them and their “private interpretations” of the Scriptures.

They use big signs in your presence in order to deceive you into thinking that their "Jesus" is the true Christ.

Matthew 24:23-26 KJV
(23) Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.

The false prophets come to us preaching “another Jesus” whom they are calling the true “Christ” but is really the “antichrist”…the instead-of the true Christ.

They show “great signs” such as the performance of literal water baptism before our eyes in order to fascinate and deceive us into listening to and following them down the broad way to our mortal destruction.

They use “wonders”…flattering words…to deceive. They speak great swelling words of emptiness to us and perform “great signs” in order to fascinate…to bewitch us.

(24) For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
(25) Behold, I have told you before.

Their outward signs are performed in the desert of hearing the Word of Truth. After one gets water baptized by them, they then proclaim He is in your heart now (in the secret chambers of the heart).

(26) Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.

But do not go out into the “desert” where they are baptizing you supposedly in the name of the true Christ….which is the anti“Christ”.

John 1:19-20 KJV
(19) And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou?
(20) And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ.

They only want to lead you away from the true Christ and the path that leads you to His eternal life in this earth.

Do not let them “bewitch” you with their graphic representation of Christ being crucified in their outward performance of the “big sign” of literal water baptism. We are already told in the Scriptures by His eyewitnesses that Jesus died for our sins upon the cross. We do not need a graphic portrait painted by the false prophets by their outward literal water baptisms. This is a "big sign" as many fall for it and even cause the "very elect" to sway over it.

Galatians 3:1-3 KJV
(1) O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?

Did we receive the Spirit by the literal baptism or the hearing of faith?

Having begun in the Spirit are we now made complete by the flesh….the act of being literally water baptized? This is the "big sign" of false prophets who want to boast in the flesh of how many people they have baptized in the name of their "Jesus".

The water baptism of 2000 years ago were for the Jews who were still under the external regulations of the Law.

It was the “gospel of the circumcision”...to the first century Jews... who were to be literally baptized. Paul was upset with Peter who compelled the first gentiles (Cornelius and company) to "live like the Jews" by being water baptized AFTER the receiving of the Spirit. What God has cleansed do not call unclean in order for them to get literally baptized.

(2) This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
(3) Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

Those who are pushing literal water baptism are “zealous” for it. They exclude us from their church memberships if we are not submitting to their outward show of the flesh. They put pressure on us to be “baptized”….they zealously affect us but not for our well -being.

Galatians 4:16-17 KJV
(16) Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?
(17) They zealously affect you, but not well; yea, they would exclude you, that ye might affect them.

We have freedom in Christ.

Yet, they want to use the performance of literal water baptism (their “great signs’) in order to lead us into their bondage….the serving and worshipping of their church handwritings of “ordinances”….their dogmas of which many think are true and correct within their own minds.

Do not go into the “desert”….the desert of the words of emptiness where there is no Truth to be found….to find the Christ in the presence of those who are performing their outward “signs” in order to fascinate our eyes and who are speaking their flattering, empty words to fascinate our hearing ears.

His presence shall be personally known inside each of us as His Light shall shine in our very own hearts when we hear the Voice of the true Son of God speaking to us from Heaven.

That Light shining in our hearts at the hearing of His Son shall be an authentication of the true Son in whom God is pleased in and whom we are to hear over the many voices of the false prophets and their many private interpretations and performance of great signs and wonders.

I believe the "sign"of the Son of man is his "coming with the clouds". It's a motif of deity in the ancient world, applied also to Baal by the pagans. So when Caiaphas asks Jesus if he was the Christ, the Son of God, the Lord responds "... Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven." He knew Caiaphas would recognize this as a claim to deity. It goes back to Daniel 7:13 where the motif is applied to "one like the Son of man" apart from Yahweh himself (a primary basis for the Two Powers of Heaven teaching in 2nd Temple Era, outlawed as heretical in Judaism in 2nd Century). Jesus is basically claiming to be the "cloud rider" in Dan 7 which is why Caiaphas rent his clothes (Matthew 26:65). Which was unlawful btw Leviticus 21:10

FYI this is all covered in Unseen Realm pt 3 with Dr Michael Heiser here. Very interesting stuff as it discusses a Godhead teaching in the OT!!

Thanks for the input.

The “sign” of His coming…that is, of His presence…is one that is very personal to all us when He comes to open up the Scriptures to our hearing ears.

It shall authenticate the genuine Son within each of us...a personal experience in a like manner as the disciples whose hearts did burn within them as they journeyed unto Emmaus and heard Jesus (who initially was a stranger to them) opening up the Scriptures to their hearing ears.

The sign appears as the Light shining in the heart….in the darkness of the heart of each of His people and this sign is from God that says that is His Son whom we are to hear. This is the true Son of God coming to give us an understanding.

It confirms…in a more sure way for us personally…that this is indeed the true Son speaking and not false prophets who are currently claiming that their “jesus” that they are preaching is the true Christ.

Matthew 24:3 KJV
(3) And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

The false prophets do not have this “sign” accompanying their preaching of their “another jesus” and their empty words.

They come in the name of "Jesus" and claim that the Jesus that they are preaching is the true Christ.

Yet, they do not have the accompanying sign of the Son of man that shines in our hearts.

Instead, they have to rely upon their performance of outward signs (such as literal water baptism) and wonders….flattery...to deceive us into listening to their words and following them.

Matthew 24:4-5 KJV
(4) And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
(5) For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

Again, the sign shines….as the lightning comes out of the east and shines even unto the west.

So shall the coming (the presence) of the Son of man be as His presence shall cause our hearts to shine as He speaks to us via the opening up of the Scriptures to our understanding. We shall know then that this is the genuine Son of God and not the ‘son” that false prophets are preaching.

Matthew 24:27 KJV
(27) For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

The sign shall SHINE (appear = shine) in the heavens…in those who are focusing on the things above. It shall shine in the hearts of those who are treasuring the things in heaven and not things on the earth. We are the “heavens” so to speak even as we live here on this earth. His sign will enlighten our very own hearts….a personal sign of authenticity.

Jesus said that He is the "bright and morning star"...and that "star" arises within our very own hearts when we shall hear His voice speaking to us. We shall know it is Him...and not a false prophet...testifying to us these things.

Revelation 22:16 KJV
(16) I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.

While we have the Light with us, we are to believe in the light so that we might be children of light.

John 12:35-37 KJV
(35) Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.

If we do not believe, then Jesus will depart and will hide Himself from the unbelievers. The Light shall depart from our hearts leaving us in the darkness of our own unbelief.

(36) While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.
(37) But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:

Yet, all of those who will continue to live after the flesh….who are of the earthly wisdom (the envy, the strife, the wrath)… will not believe with what the Son of man has to say in this coming time and will contend with His words in their wrath and pride.

Do not let the sun ( the ray of His Light) go down upon our wrath.

Ephesians 4:26 KJV
(26) Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wra
th:

The unbelievers will mourn when they see the Son coming on the “clouds of heaven” with power and great glory. They will see the effects of the Son’s Light within the hearts of those who will hear His voice and believe.

The “clouds” of heaven are the believers in this earth who will be together in what they will hear Him saying. They will be of one mind and one spirit. They will lift up the Son of man's Voice...His teachings...over all of the preaching of earthly false prophets. The Son of man must be lifted up.

They will be His “cloud of witnesses” of which the religious leaders of today will mourn over when they see this happening to the “cloud” of believers in this coming time. They will mourn what they see happening as none of the believers will “buy” what they have been “selling “ us anymore with their great swelling words of emptiness.

Matthew 24:30 KJV
(30) And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

The religious leaders will rent their garments….mourn.

They will not see the “sign” within their hearts as they will not believe but will witness the effects of the Son of man coming upon the “clouds” of believers who will gather with Him in the Word of Truth that they will hear Him speaking. They will mourn what they see happening to all of those who were once deceived by the deceptive preaching of men.

Mark 14:61-64 KJV
(61) But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?
(62) And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
(63) Then the high priest rent his clothes
, and saith, What need we any further witnesses?
(64) Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.

The “clouds of heaven” are those who be gathered together from the four winds….from every wind of doctrine that earthly-minded men have been preaching to deceive. We are gathered together by His words spoken in the Spirit of Truth.

Matthew 24:31-32 KJV
(31) And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

We shall come together…in “clouds” of people…in the unity of faith and the knowledge of the Son of God….

Ephesians 4:13-15 KJV
(13) Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

….being gathered together from where we had once been scattered: from the four winds…..from every wind of doctrine preached by men who only wanted to deceive us.

(14) That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
(15) But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

We shall sing together....as the "morning stars" ...as we hear His voice and rejoice in what we will hear Him saying.

Job 38:7 KJV
(7) When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

We shall shine as the "stars" of the heavens as each of us will have His Light within.

We shall rejoice in His words while the unbelievers will mourn.

Isaiah 65:13-15 KJV
(13) Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, my servants shall eat, but ye shall be hungry: behold, my servants shall drink, but ye shall be thirsty: behold, my servants shall rejoice, but ye shall be ashamed:
(14) Behold, my servants shall sing for joy of heart, but ye shall cry for sorrow of heart, and shall howl for vexation of spirit.

(15) And ye shall leave your name for a curse unto my chosen: for the Lord GOD shall slay thee, and call his servants by another name:

The Son of God comes to give us understanding….in the same way that He did with the 2 disciples who were going to Emmaus. He opens up the Scriptures to our minds…to our understanding…through His heavenly interpretation of them (in contrast to the private interpretations of earthly men).

Luke 24:27 KJV
(27) And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

This was done while He was perceived as a “stranger” by His own 2 disciples.

Luke 24:18 KJV
(18) And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him, Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which are come to pass there in these days?

Yet, the 2 disciples did not behave in wrath, strife and envy towards the Stranger’s words…His interpretation of the Scriptures to their hearing ears.

They… instead of behaving badly…. did “entertain” the Stranger with hospitality and patiently heard His words of life and spirit. They did let brotherly love continue.

Hebrews 13:1-2 KJV
(1) Let brotherly love continue.
(2) Be not forgetful to entertain strangers:
for thereby some have entertained angels unaware
s.

They were hospitable towards the “Stranger” and did invite Him to abide with them and kept the feast of brotherly love and did not keep it with bad behavior.

Luke 24:28-34 KJV
(28) And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and he made as though he would have gone further.
(29) But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them.
(30) And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them.
(31) And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.

Their hearts did burn within them as the Stranger talked with them and while He opened the Scriptures to their hearing ears.

(32) And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?

The Lord is risen indeed and has appeared to “Simon” meaning “hearing”.

We will hear His Voice in this coming time through people whom we will consider “strangers” in this earth. These people will be those whom He will send out to speak His words of life and spirit.

(34) Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon.

This is why we must always be “ready” and awake to His righteousness (letting brotherly love continue). The Son of man comes in such an hour we think not.

Matthew 24:44 KJV
(44) Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

The Son of God comes to give us an understanding so that we may know Him who is true. We show we know Him by the doing of His will (have brotherly love)…by the doing of His commandments. We are to show forth our faith in Him by the external good works.

1 John 5:20 KJV
(20) And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

We shall enter in to know the mysteries of the kingdom of Heaven if we should be found of Him (the appearing of a “Stranger” in our lives by the hearing of His words) doing His will even though we do not immediately recognize Him.

The “under cover Boss” shows up as a “stranger” to see what is in the hearts of His people by seeing how they will react to His voice. We will then show we know Him by the doing of His will. We see His “face” so to speak by showing forth we know Him by our external good works.

Matthew 7:21-23 KJV
(21) Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Some though will cast those “strangers” out as “devils” and will not listen. They will behave badly (supposedly acting in His authority) towards the hearing of His words. They will not show they know Him through their actions.

(22) Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

Which of course will cause Him to profess to such people that He “never knew them” as they had shown that did not know Him through their bad behavior…their supposed “wonderful works” done towards strangers and their words.

(23) And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater….and we have that witness of God within our very own hearts as the Light shines within the darkness of our own hearts.

We hear the Voice of His true Son and the witness of God within us testifies that this is His only begotten Son whom we are to hear. The Light shines brighter and brighter if we believe on Him.

1 John 5:9-12 KJV
(9) If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.
(10) He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.

When we shall hear the Son speaking to us and show forth our faith by having brotherly love, we shall enter into eternal life. This life is in His Son whom is sent out to give us an understanding.

(11) And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
(12) He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

The witness of God within us says that this is His Son whom we are to hear instead of earthly speaking men who are preaching "another Jesus”…another “son”….that leads many astray from the Way of righteousness.

The Light shines out of the darkness of our very own hearts when we hear the Voice of the Son….the true Son of God… and not the “son” of earthly preaching men who privately interpret/twist the Scriptures to their own destruction. We enter into everlasting life when we shall believe on the true Son of God who shall speak the faithful and true words of God to our hearing ears.

2 Corinthians 4:6-7 KJV
(6) For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

It is the excellency of the power that is of God shown within our very own hearts and not of men. His witness of His Son is within us.

(7) But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

The disciples on the mountain did hear a voice from Heaven that told them that this is His beloved Son whom He is well pleased…and to HEAR Him.

We have a more sure word within us that this is His Son…His true Son speaking to us…and that is the Light that will shine within our very own hearts. We shall know within us to HEAR the Son of God speaking to us as He opens up the Scriptures to our hearing ears.

Matthew 17:1-8 KJV
(1) And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,

We must show we know Him…to His “face” that did shine as the sun.

We are to put on Christ (His raiment was white as the Light)….. by doing good toward the hearing of His voice. We must show the evidence of our inner faith in Him by the external good works (the putting on of the outer “raiment” of Light) towards the hearing of His voice.

(2) And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.

By doing so, we may then enter in to the know the Scriptures. He expounds “Moses” and all the prophets (Elijah) to us. Moses and Elijah talk together with Him so to speak by His correct, heavenly interpretation of their words in His words spoken to our hearing ears.

(3) And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.
(4) Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.
(5) While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

We must humble ourselves toward the hearing of His Voice.

(6) And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.
(7) And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.

We are to no longer listen to earthly men speaking their earthly sermons with their earthly interpretations. We are to hear Jesus only who is the author and completion of our faith in Him. His voice is over all others of this earth.

(8) And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.

We are to look unto Jesus only who is the author and finisher of our faith.

When we hear His voice opening up the Scriptures of the “great cloud witnesses” of Jesus, we are to lay aside all evil speaking (the sin coming out of our mouths) against what we hear Him saying.

Hebrews 12:1-2 KJV
(1) Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

He “finishes” our faith as we hear Him and behave with good towards Him when we hear His voice. We die to the sin and show forth the external evidence of our faith.

(2) Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Good works completes (makes “perfect”) our faith in Him as He opens up the Scriptures to our hearing.

James 2:20-22 KJV
(20) But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
(21) Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
(22) Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?

Jesus comes to open up the Scriptures in the fullness of the Spirit of Truth. He has the seven Spirits of God.

The “dead” church here in Revelation does not “complete” their faith in Him as they do evil works in their wrath towards the hearing of His voice. They that do not complete their faith. The wrath of man does not do the righteousness of God.

They profess their faith (having a name that they live) but they are “dead” as their faith is not accompanied with external good works (the white raiment).

Their works were not found “perfect”…complete…before God. They did not show they knew Him because of their evil works that is not an outward expression of their inner faith in Him. They are to “wake” up (be watchful) and strengthen the things which remain are ready to die.

Revelation 3:1-3 KJV
(1) And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.
(2) Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.

They are counseled to receive what they hear and hold fast to it and change their minds. They are to “awake” to His righteousness…putting on Christ….the good deeds….the white raiment.

(3) Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

They had a name that they lived but were “dead”….the professing of faith without the accompanied external good works is dead.

James 2:18-20 KJV
(18) Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
(19) Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
(20) But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

If we hear His Voice and “open the door”, He will come in and will give us the meat of the Word of Truth. We must be found having brotherly love…being hospitable….inviting.

As the disciples on the way to Emmaus invited the “Stranger” to stay with them: “Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent”. And he went in to tarry with them.

Revelation 3:20-22 KJV
(20) Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
(21) To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
(22) He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

He that will hear His word and believes on Him that sent the Son to give us an understanding via the opening up of the Scriptures, shall have everlasting life. They shall not come into judgment but shall pass from death unto life.

John 5:24-29 KJV
(24) Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
(25) Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
(26) For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;
(27) And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.

All of us who are “dead” in trespasses and sins and are in the graves shall hear His voice. Some will come forth and do good towards the hearing of His voice and shall have everlasting life.

(28) Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
(29) And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life
; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
