The parents of a 4-year-old Missouri girl allegedly killed by neighbours to remove a "demon" pleaded not guilty Monday to charges connected to the case.

Mary S. Mast, 29, and James A. Mast, 28, both of Lincoln, Missouri, were charged Thursday with felony child endangerment resulting in death and are jailed without bond. They don't yet have attorneys.

The couple's other children, a 2-year-old son and an infant, were placed in protective custody, Benton County Sheriff Eric Knox said in a news release.

Across-the-road neighbours Ethan Mast, 35, and Kourtney Aumen, 21, were charged last week with second-degree murder and other offences. Both are jailed without bond.

A probable cause statement from Benton County Sgt. Chris Wilson said the girl was already dead and had "severe purple bruising" over her body, along with ruptured blisters, when he was called to the home.

Knox said the girl's parents also had been beaten along with the 2-year-old. The infant was unharmed.

Still, Wilson asked James Mast "how he could let people do this to his family and he stated they were told (his wife) had a `Demon' inside her and her children would end up just like her if it was not taken care of," Wilson wrote in the probable cause statement.

Ethan Mast told investigators that he and Aumen used a leather belt to beat the girl on Dec. 19, the statement said. She was then taken to a pond behind the home where she was "dunked" in the water on a day when high temperatures were in the 40s.

Poor little angel :( The only good thing here is that she's safely away from her evil, horrible family and neighbors forever. I'm glad the other children were rescued and I pray they find a loving, safe home, preferably together.

These people are just evil. Pure evil.

If (and a very big IF) this was a failed exorcism, then none of us in the world truly know what we're dealing with...[1]
  1. Ephesians 6:10-20, Jude 1:5-11, 2 Peter 2:4-11
I'm not clear on what you're trying to say here.

The death of this child is a direct result of these people believing that demons possess people. These people deserve life in prison with no option of future release.

Demons are real, they do possess people---but neither Jesus nor His disciples ever beat anyone. They spoke in the name of Jesus and they came out. These people are evil. They have no knowledge of the true God and neither did these foolish parents! They are evil, and deserve the harshest of punishments.

They have the death penalty there right? If so, I hope they hang.
Yes, Missouri has the death penalty. When my wife read that to me, she said that she wished that they would receive as punishment what they did to that poor girl.

Might have learned this behavior from his father, who learned it from his father all the way down the line back to the colonial era.

There's plenty of destructive theologies left over from that time, this one was a non-biblical one of "beating the hell out of them"

Similar ideas were torture chambers for heretics, water torture for possible witches, burning at the stake. Very colonial and also medieval in a sense.

This was indeed very wrong, (kind of makes you wonder if the man is guilty of what he is accusing others of) but what is the action to take for individuals to correct this in the future?

This man was part of a church family, whatever was going on was invisible to the church family - so something like this could totally happen again, and they wouldn't see unless changes are made.

While I have to disagree that demons as spiritual entities that can hijack people’s nervous systems exist I certainly agree that these people are evil.

If only their Christian beliefs had inhibited rather than facilitated their actions.

Who was the actual exorcist in this? Or did they just do it themselves?

According to the article, the church was not involved in the exorcism. Just the man and a next door neighbor.

"Both families attend the same church, but Knox said that the actions involving the girl are not condoned by the church, which he declined to name."

Allow me to explain myself...

We are dealing with spiritual beings capable of rational thought, problem solving, communication, and other forms of intelligence...[7] And they do a good job at it through deceit,[1] bribery,[2] coercion,[3] and even through proxy.[4] While not always the case, they are even capable of making humans appear as severely mentally ill.[5] On top of all that, they have millennia worth of experience.[6] They know how we work. The weakest angel is much, MUCH stronger than the strongest human who ever lived.[7]

Why do they do this? It is nothing personal.[8] Their real vendetta is against the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob/Israel because of a prolonged attempt at mutiny.[9]

What is the most effective way of hurting a loving Father? Go after His children.

So my question is, how do any of us know it is not US being played by THEM?

On January 1, 2021, at roughly 2:30 PM Eastern Time, I have made some edits in efforts to make this a bit more understandable in layman terms. My apologies, I am still learning because I am a flawed human being who is predisposed to selfishness.

So, the crux of your point is "how do any of us know we aren't possessed tools of Satan"?
