Absolutely a possibility as well.
I agree that revelation 12 is history lesson, but I disagree that it is in regards to satan's fall during the time of genesis.
The vision starts with the woman clothed with the sun, moon, and crown of twelve stars, who is pregnant, as "IN HEAVEN". The dragon was a also another sign "IN HEAVEN", who stood before the woman "IN HEAVEN" who was about to give birth to a child, so that he might devour it.
revelation 12:1-4 And a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. She was pregnant and was crying out in birth pains and the agony of giving birth. And another sign appeared in heaven: behold, a great red dragon, with seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads seven diadems. His tail swept down a third of the stars of heaven and cast them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she bore her child he might devour it.
After the Child's birth, He is caught up to the throne of God and the woman fled into the wilderness for 1260 days to be nourished by God.
revelation 12:5-6 She gave birth to a male child, one who is to rule
a all the nations with a rod of iron, but her child was caught up to God and to his throne, and the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, in which she is to be nourished for 1,260 days.
However, it is revealed that the woman fled into the wilderness for a time, times, and half a time because the Dragon who had been cast out pursued her.
Revelation 12:13-14 And when the dragon saw that he had been thrown down to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child. But the woman was given the two wings of the great eagle so that she might fly from the serpent into the wilderness, to the place where she is to be nourished for a time, and times, and half a time.
IMHO, The NT should be used to interpret verses 9-11.
revelation 12:9-10 And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—
he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “
Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come,
for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death. Therefore, rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell in them!
But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because he knows that his time is short!”
Jesus said satan would be cast out in association with his death and resurrection.
John 12:31-33 Now is the judgment of this world;
now will the ruler of this world be cast out. And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” He said this to show by what kind of death he was going to die.
The kingdom of God and the authority of Christ are present in the 1st century:
Mark 9:1 And he said to them, “Truly, I say to you,
there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God after it has come with power.”
Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and said to them, “
All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Jesus said satan was coming
John 14:30 I will no longer talk much with you,
for the ruler of this world is coming. He has no claim on me,
Therefore it is upon Christ's ascension that the dragon was cast out and pursued the woman who fled into the wilderness to be nourished for 1260 days/time, times, half a time.
IMHO, this is a reference to the last half of the 70th week, and the historical events of this vision can be found in Acts 1-7.
