One thing I find odd about these theologies is that Paul said "we see through a glass darkly" yet a lot of end times theologies use old testament passages where the prophet's "eye sight" would have been worse than Paul's

2. there is only one way to be saved, and that is by believing on the Lord Jesus Christ, his death on the cross, and rising from the dead on the third day.

So, if that is the only way to be saved (and I agree), then I'm happy you likewise agree that understanding and accepting the "correct" eschatology, as it falls nowhere inside those parameters, has no bearing on one's salvation status.

I don't have a strong objection to what you post and reply only to say I think I like the term eventism as it can apply to current events being tied to prophecy by appearance but maybe not by fact. It is what I describe as certain things must happen in order for prophecy to be fulfilled but not every event that occurs is prophetic in nature. We sometimes try to tie it all up in a nice concise bow, but rarely is that the case. So I like the term eventism.

Who does scripture say has the authority to declare a particular event is indeed the fulfillment of a particular prophesy?

Anyone?
Only certain people?
Only one person?
Nobody?

We read how the apostles themselves infallibly declared events in their day to be the fulfillment of Prophesy... we also have the scriptural witness of the Holy inspired OT prophets many times proclaiming events in their day to be fulfillment of prophesy..

Who else does scripture teach Has such authority?
Do I have that authority? Do you? what happens when one of us declares one event the fulfillment of prophesy while the other says, "no, that's not the event that fulfills that prophesy, it's actually a different event that fulfills it"...?
(as everyone around this board knows, this happens ALL THE TIME on CF)
Who then has the authority to proclaim which is correct?
