I have approached my local RCA for membership information during their "Vision 2020" two year(plus) long quest to come up with a man-based vs biblical-based direction for the church:itself.Reformed Church in America Vision 2020 Team Final Report | Reformed Church in America
After over a month with no response whatsoever (I have made it clear that I do not align with our classes leader who promotes the New Apostolic Reformation and its adherents as being "church plant experts") I was offered yet another blow off: We won't even discuss membership classes until the church reopens for in person worship. This all happens as the Classes leader attempts to take over the church himself...twice.
Obviously, those seeking to destroy the traditional RCA as structured and make off with the denomination's valuable properties while sacrificing 'zip' themselves have strengthened their hands during this crisis. The LGBTQI+ (etc.) issue has been the devil's #1 weapon of choice in these matters and an issue that this particular church is loathe to discuss publicly along with Vision 2020 in any real sense. Most RCA leaders nationwide who have signed petitions supporting the former are very much local to me and have big money support politically as well.
The lesson?
Do not approach this denomination at this juncture expecting anyone to explain what it truly means to become a strict bible believing member of the RCA. The old traditional RCA leadership is obviously in a 'spiritual cleansing' mode. More likely? A whole lotta leadership pensions are on the line here and a whole lotta current and former leaders could care less whose name is on the check or their values when this is all over just as long as those checks keep a comin' (legally bind every future donating member to perpetuity or until the last check is issued...whichever comes first).
How many church denominations are seeing what we see every day now involving unionized and NGO (cough) 'promised' retirement plan scrambles worldwide for non-existent monetary crumbs not even left over?
Does anybody really believe that this is strictly about LGBTQI+ issues when this can has been kicked with impeccable timing to coincide with a likely bailout of those actually kicking it...past or future doctrine be damned?
