What color was the fleece, that is the question. Moving on

I hear no one has been able to make fire like the Bynzatines could during the crusades.

Greek fire - Wikipedia

Note to trees: smokey is watching

Hmmmm...I would imagine it would have been the average color of the flock.

Although, it could have been dyed. But, why anyone would want to dye a threshing floor fleece...is beyond me...I know the Gideon Bibles are usually red in color.

Oh yeah, I found this while doing a little research:

"God makes the fleece wet with dew, while all the threshing-floor is dry. Dew is the symbol of divine grace, of the silently formed moisture which, coming from no apparent source, freshens by night the wilted plants, and hangs in myriad drops, that twinkle into green and gold as the early sunshine strikes them, on the humblest twig. That grace is plainly not a natural product nor to be accounted for by environment."
Gideon's Fleece (biblehub.com)

I like to imagine that green and gold twinkling beside a beautiful violet flower!

“Jehovah-shalom” “The Lord send peace.” was the altar he built.

“Jehovah is with thee, thou mighty man of valor.” so seeth the Angel of the Lord.

He said, “Show me a sign,”

“Jehovah, send peace.”

“Lord, give peace to all thy people.”

Then ask for peace by conquest of an ungodly world for Jesus till the first Christmas carol shall be sung again, “Glory to God in the highest, peace on earth, goodwill toward men.”

Merry Christmas and have a wonderful new year!!! :hug:s

It’s easier to follow the shall than the nots to believe faith.
Yes, mankind struggles with all commands, even the one to remain faithful. That is why salvation is from God, not man.

Back to the trees: Does anyone know of anyone or anything we can eat from and live forever, besides Christ/God with us?
Well, the Father gives eternal life, His only offering. And the Son has the power to give and take from the sum of that, as rewards or loss of rewards of Him that is returning, that's the sign of belief in faith Hebrews 11:6 so nope, can’t think of anything else that would suffice.

The Sign from God ~ Emmanuel

The ultimate fulfillment of that prophesy was the incarnation, born of the virgin Mary, a son of duel nature, God and man, Emmanuel: God with us for the salvation of mankind. He's the Shoot of Jehovah and the fruit of the earth.

Isaiah 4:2
In that day shall the branch of the Lord be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely for them that are escaped of Israel.

God with us

Matthew 18:20
For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
Matthew 28:20
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

As Immanuel He is inclusive of all of the Godhead

First as our savior

Luke 2:11
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

then our Redeemer

John 1:29
The next day John saw Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which takes away the sin of the world.

our Life-giver

1 Corinthians 15:45
And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

and then the indwelling Spirit

John 14:16-20
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it sees him not, neither knows him: but ye know him; for he dwells with you, and shall be in you.
I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
Yet a little while, and the world sees me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.

Romans 8:9-11
But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwell in you.

Emmanuel is the sum total of the Godhead's work in human relations.

"Though he slay me yet shall I trust in him" is a key to escape the supposed duality of God that the tree of knowledge of Good and Evil cursed us with.”

The supposed duality of God? Isn’t it just Jesus that has the dual nature of God? And only given to us of fallen nature by bringing ‘to remembrance’ Christ in His crucifixion for us to break ourselves on so that, like Gideon, we too can shine forth the brilliant light the transformation at the mountaintop promised. That would seem to be the clothing lost that the crucified died to reinstate.

What did satan bring that wasn’t part of the new humanity? I would venture to say that it was the process, like processed meat, or any essential form under change from another added.

The light was always there but the understanding was not. Lucifer understood, and death reigned. He passed that knowledge on when acknowledgement of need was heeded. Suddenly carnality reigned because, like Cain, it was given free reign. The human/God helpmeet was usurped by satan/human helpmeet of Genesis 6

Jesus processed the journey to God/human helpmeet but because the world still consists of a darkened/enlightened mind that needs knowledge of good/evil to rightly divide then that of the full knowledge of God became assessable for the first time. Even the demons could understand it. But it was the mountaintop promise that shone thru. The axe is at the tree of bitter roots. Not to be made lemonade of. But rather a remembrance of the trees and leaning on the full story as it unravels in your own life.

That reminds me, what do you think would have been Job’s thought process for including his daughters in the inheritance? It was the only change made.

What does the Bible say about trees?

“And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.” When we read these words in the second chapter of the Bible, we see a setup for the plot.

I love this. This really speaks about how God sees us: Mark 8:22-25 (kinda like mini trees and Jesus says we are the branches while He is the root).

Personally, God spoke to me this way by these very verses: Psalm 1:3 & Jeremiah 17:8. I actually lived by a river at this time. :yellowheart:

Ran into this article @~Cassia~ and though of you.
The Story of the Bible, Told by Trees

There are lots of prisms for viewing the storyline of the Bible, we want to give you some takes on the big story from the perspective of four earthly elements of redemption.

“If you understand the trees, you understand the story.” And it’s true, the trees are there from start to finish, and one tree in particular is at the very center of the entire narrative.

And right in the midst of it all, let there be trees—of the seed-bearing fruit kind in particular.

In the Bible trees are often signposts and gathering places, and they provide images of both the blessing and the judgment of God. You can tell how the story is going based on what’s happening with the trees.

When the liberated people are stuck in a mostly lifeless desert, God leads them to camping places like Elim, home to twelve springs and seventy palm trees. Islands of trees, proof of water nearby, are lifelines to a new land.

Trees end up being the barometer of the blessings of the covenant bond between Israel and God. When Israel celebrates how God rescued them, the festival begins with the people taking “branches of luxuriant trees—from palms, willows, and other leafy trees” to build temporary shelters as they remember the Exodus and rejoice before the Lord for seven days.

God’s people are like a tree and they are therefore judged and pruned, sometimes severely, but never outright destroyed. Cut back and even burned, there is a life within them that persists. And it is onto this besieged and wavering remnant that God will graft a new people, fulfilling that old oath to Abraham. His family will be what it was meant to be after all. The forests will be filled and the earth will find its own exodus story. The story of trees is inexorably tied to our story.

One thing about this story of trees in the Bible is that it is inevitably a story for the long term. Trees are mostly slow-growers, but are all the more enduring for their deliberate pace. And this is exactly how God’s plans for his world also go. Slow, but steadily onward and upward. Trees sometimes turn into weapons and siege ramps, or are fashioned into tools for idolatry. But out of the cut stumps and smoldering ashes, God patiently nurtures life. The trees live on, and from the trees new growth will emerge. Hope, symbolized by the trees, does not die.

ect etc love it!

Trust in God is certainly a key of faith that allows us to escape His wrath. I do not think of the tree of knowledge of good and evil/the law so much a curse but more as a guide to faith. We soon realize the law condemns, not because it is evil but because our fleshly nature is and if we have faith it drives us strait into His loving arms.

Your theology is so deep I am having a hard time understanding. What has helped me to understand some of the deeper things is when I realized satan is a metaphor for mans fleshly nature. Do you personally know of any other accuser, tempter or adversary (which is what the word for satan means) besides your own or some other persons fleshly nature? Lets face it, there has never been another talking snake, not that God could not cause a snake to talk or a donkey : )

A lot of the posts are from notes on those topics, so often means different things at different times, at different levels of my own walk here.
A difference between an old testament believer (law) and new testament believer (grace) is that the new creation doesn’t experience ~bitterness~, no mention of anger, discontent or rebellion.
Somehow the vemon doesn’t have that effect when viewed from the cross.

4751 mar mar or (feminine) marah {maw-raw'}; from 4843; bitter (literally or figuratively); also (as noun) bitterness, or (adverbially) bitterly:--+ angry, bitter(-ly, -ness), chafed, discontented, X great, heavy.

4805 mriy mer-ee' from 4784; bitterness, i.e. (figuratively) rebellion; concretely, bitter, or rebellious:--bitter, (most) rebel(-lion, -lious).

4846 mrorah mer-o-raw' or mrowrah {mer-o-raw'}; from 4843; properly, bitterness; concretely, a bitter thing; specifically bile; also venom (of a serpent):--bitter (thing), gall.

There are other references in the OT but these are the usual meaning. There is, however, only 4 meanings for the same words in the NT.

When bitterness is spoken of in the NT believer it refers to a bitter and violent piercing and makes no mention of anger, discontent or rebellion.

4087. pikraino pik-rah'-ee-no from 4089; to embitter (literally or figuratively):--be (make) bitter.

4088. pikria pik-ree'-ah from 4089; acridity (especially poison), literally or figuratively:--bitterness.

4089. pikros pik-ros' perhaps from 4078 (through the idea of piercing); sharp (pungent), i.e. acrid (literally or figuratively):--bitter.

4090. pikros pik-roce' adverb from 4089; bitterly, i.e. (figuratively) violently:--bitterly.

It seems to me that satan can still bite the new creation of believers, sometimes using those closest to us to inflict the pain.

Jesus' saving grace saves us from the anger, discontent and rebellion but not from the pain involved from the poison inflicted on tender hearts, made more tender from association with Jesus. Jesus' compassion always shone through His pain, but no doubt Satan inflicted serious poison on His soul, probably more than any other.

It also helps to see and prove His overcoming to the new creation imo

The secret is not to let the poison set in by not harbouring anger either good or bad, but to clean the slate with God each and every night.

:)

I do not believe there is any basic differences between old and new testament believers. WE are all saved by faith, even those who never verbally heard of God or Christ according to Paul, Romans 1&2

Jesus is the vine, we are the branches.
That is abiding.
Abiding is for the purpose of producing fruit
stemming from being rooted in the Father,
but Jesus wants the new wine, the finished product.

Song of Solomon 2:12-13a
Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land. The fig tree forms its early fruit; the blossoming vines spread their fragrance.
Song of Solomon 7:12-13
Let us go early to the vineyards to see if the vines have budded, if their blossoms have opened, and if the pomegranates are in bloom? there I will give you my love. The mandrakes send out their fragrance, and at our door is every delicacy, both new and old, that I have stored up for you, my lover.
Hosea 14:5-7
I will be like the dew to Israel; he will blossom like a lily. Like a cedar of Lebanon he will send down his roots; his young shoots will grow. His splendor will be like an olive tree, his fragrance like a cedar of Lebanon. Men will dwell again in his shade. He will flourish like the grain. He will blossom like a vine, and his fame will be like the wine from Lebanon.

The new wine, the finished product, results are 2 trees, sanctified, in the garden future/present Kingdom, .... No one, a single vine winding it’s way around the living water.

Paradise Restored
1 Then he showed me a river of the water of life, clear as crystal, coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb, 2 in the middle of its street. On either side of the river was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. 3 There will no longer be any curse; and the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and His bond-servants will serve Him;
The finished product is to be enjoyed with Him.

Maybe he thought he would weave them into the theme of the Seed of the Woman.
I’m sure it is a symbolism being woven into the meaning or pattern of the coat of many colours that the Father is individually weaving all of our lives, into the finished product we will wear for eternity. I have no doubt about that.

The wooden cross

LET US GO FORTH, OUTSIDE THE CAMP

Among the Hebrew Christians many still clung to the temple and its ritual. And there were among them teachers who inculcated obedience to the laws in regard to food etc. But the writer of Hebrews warns against these strange teachings FOR IT IS GOOD FOR THE HEART TO BE ESTABLISHED BY GRACE, NOT BY MEATS. No outward observances can sustain the inner life; it's by grace alone, grace that comes from the throne of grace, that the heart must be established.

Hebrews 12:28-29

28Therefore, since we are receiving an unshakable kingdom, let us be filled with gratitude, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe. 29For our God is a consuming fire.…

Our altar is the cross. The Levitical priesthood is entirely different from the new worship. The old priesthood has no part in the sacrifices of the cross and the new worship has no part in the old sacrifices. THE SIN OFFERING, OF WHICH THE BLOOD WAS BROUGHT INTO THE HOLY PLACE BY THE HIGH PRIEST, WAS __not eaten __ BURNT OUTSIDE THE CAMP. The sin-offering leads to seperation and rejection. He was cast out of the city as one made sin for us. Hebrews 11:10, Hebrews 13:14 THEREFORE WE BEAR HIS REPROACH.

Outside the camp is in fellowship with Jesus, crucified to the world and in death to sin. He not only provided a sin-offering for us but the new and living Way

Hebrews 10:19-25

19 Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus,

20 by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh,

21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God,

22 let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; 24 and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds,

25 not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.
