Loving our neighbor is how we love God.
JLB

I know several Atheists who love their neighbor. Buddhists teach to love your neighbor.

If I Judge God and His Word regarding how to treat my neighbor as worthy of my honor and respect, but Judge God and His Word regarding other Commandments as unworthy of my honor and respect, that makes me a Judge of God and His Word, Not a Faithful follower of God's Word.

And there is a difference, according to the Word of God, between God's Love, and the love of the flesh.

1 John 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.

3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

So in your religious philosophy, loving your neighbor with your love is your "work" of Faith.

But the Holy Scriptures, where God gives us His Instruction, and HIS definition of Righteousness, true acceptable Love for our Neighbor is humbling our self to God and His Commandments.

Isn't that the difference between the Atheist and Buddhist love for their neighbor, and the "Truly Faithful's" Love for their Neighbor?

Are you sure? How many commandments are there in God's 10 commandments spoken by God and written with the finger of God *Exodus 32:16? Was there 9, 10 or 613? I have put some hints in the question. I know you will ignore this so you do not have to answer this question if you do not want to. The answer is provided to the question for those interested in the scriptures here *Exodus 34:28; Deuteronomy 4:13 and Deuteronomy 10:4.

How then do we worship God? By worshipping our neighbor?

And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. (Revelation 19:10)

God tells us how to love and worship Him in commandments 1-4 and 5-10 is how God wants us to love each other. Obeying all 10 commandments is how we show love to God according to Jesus

John 14:15 15 Jesus said “If you love Me, keep My commandments.

That there are many commandments, and they are written on our heart.

If you believe it’s a sin to gather and worship on Sunday rather than Saturday, then that is your choice to make.

One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind.

Who in the world said we should judge God and His commandments as unworthy of respect?

The essence of His Commandments is love; loving God and loving our neighbor.

If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.
1 John 4:20-21

If we choose to esteem Saturday above the other days of the week, yet fail to love our neighbor, then our esteeming the Sabbath is worthless, because we have judged that loving our neighbor is unworthy of our respect.

For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. 1 John 5:3

Nor this one —

He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 1 John 2:4

Nor this one —

Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not bear false witness,” “You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

In Exodus 20 God Himself wrote how the 10 commandments read and made an example of it in the second commandment:

Exodus 20
4“You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; 5you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, 6but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments

Also, note who does God show mercy to?
but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments

Written very similar to the verses you quoted
For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. 1 John 5:3

He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 1 John 2:4

There is only one place where God wrote and spoke the 10 commandments. Why would you not want to obey what God wrote for us? Seems like some are going out of their way to close their ears and eyes on what is so simple to understand and read. God bless

If love is the fulfillment than why do we need grace? If there is no laws, grace is not needed nor having Jesus being a sacrifice for our sins (breaking Gods laws 1 John 3:4)

Today, the church is not under the law of Moses, who was the mediator of that covenant (which was added until the Seed should come) that pertained to the children of Israel who physically lived in the land of Israel.

Now today, we are under the New Covenant, with Jesus Christ as the Mediator, who abolished in His flesh the enmity between Jew and Gentile, which was the law of Moses.

If you believe the Church should observe the Sabbath as the law of Moses dictated, then that is between you and the Lord.

Please remember it starts with becoming physically circumcised and keeping all the law of Moses.

Example of observing the Sabbath under the law —

Then he said to them, “This is what the Lord has said: ‘Tomorrow is a Sabbath rest, a holy Sabbath to the Lord. Bake what you will bake today, and boil what you will boil; and lay up for yourselves all that remains, to be kept until morning.’ ” So they laid it up till morning, as Moses commanded; and it did not stink, nor were there any worms in it. Then Moses said, “Eat that today, for today is a Sabbath to the Lord; today you will not find it in the field. Six days you shall gather it, but on the seventh day, the Sabbath, there will be none.”
Now it happened that some of the people went out on the seventh day to gather, but they found none. And the Lord said to Moses, “How long do you refuse to keep My commandments and My laws? See! For the Lord has given you the Sabbath; therefore He gives you on the sixth day bread for two days. Let every man remain in his place; let no man go out of his place on the seventh day.” So the people rested on the seventh day. Exodus 16:23-30

And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak also to the children of Israel, saying: Surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the Lord who sanctifies you. You shall keep the Sabbath, therefore, for it is holy to you. Everyone who profanes it shall surely be put to death; for whoever does any work on it, that person shall be cut off from among his people. Work shall be done for six days, but the seventh is the Sabbath of rest, holy to the Lord. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.
Exodus 31:12-15

Then Moses gathered all the congregation of the children of Israel together, and said to them, “These are the words which the Lord has commanded you to do: Work shall be done for six days, but the seventh day shall be a holy day for you, a Sabbath of rest to the Lord. Whoever does any work on it shall be put to death. You shall kindle no fire throughout your dwellings on the Sabbath day.”Exodus 35:1-3

Now while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering sticks on the Sabbath day. And those who found him gathering sticks brought him to Moses and Aaron, and to all the congregation. They put him under guard, because it had not been explained what should be done to him.
Then the Lord said to Moses, “The man must surely be put to death; all the congregation shall stone him with stones outside the camp.” So, as the Lord commanded Moses, all the congregation brought him outside the camp and stoned him with stones, and he died. Numbers 15:32-36

And on the Sabbath day two lambs in their first year, without blemish, and two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour as a grain offering, mixed with oil, with its drink offering— this is the burnt offering for every Sabbath, besides the regular burnt offering with its drink offering. Numbers 28:9-10

Does your congregation observe the Sabbath with these requirements?

JLB

And in like manner, if we claim to love our Brother, but despise and pollute God's Sabbaths, then we are also a liar. Not because I said so, but because HIS Word did.

1 Jn. 2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. 6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

And Again:

James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:

24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. 25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

James 2:11 For he that said, "Love thy Neighbor as thy self", (my addition in the Spirit of this scripture.) said also, "Keep the Sabbath Holy". Now if thou "Love thy Neighbor", yet defile God's Sabbath, thou art become a transgressor of the law.

12 So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

You are right we are not under the laws of Moses, we are under the law of God. His 10 commandments, the ones He spoke and wrote with His own finger to show us the importance of them.

The Bible says the wages of sin is death Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The burnt offerings, feasts, circumcision was all ceremonial laws meant for the time of Moses in the wilderness. Colossians 2 says they are wiped out. God's moral laws, the 10 commandments telling us how to love and worship God and how to love each other are eternal. Does God want us to lie, vain His name, covet or not keep His Holy Sabbath?

Our God saves us by grace but God has clearly asked us over and over again in to keep His commandments which includes the day HE defined as Holy, His seventh day Sabbath.

Please give us the scripture from Jesus or His apostles that teach us how we are to observe the Sabbath under the New Covenant?

Do you believe it a violation of the Sabbath, a sin that displays hatred of our brother and the Lord, to gather and worship the Lord on Sunday rather than Saturday ?
