For 2 years I had head knowledge about Jesus what he did, I already knew about the Trinity, we being sinners, that he died on the cross, and that he is in heaven.

I know head knowledge does not save.

One night (August 9th) I just believed in it all fully with my heart and the Holy Spirit came to me. But what belief in what exactly got me saved?

Was it Jesus is Lord, and him dying for my sins and being alive in heaven? Or was the belief in the trinity involved along with other beliefs that got me saved?

Long story short I just believed in everything in the Bible

I love what you said about you believing everything in the Bible because it's so true. I believe that if we accept Jesus as our personal Lord and Saviour and trust only Him to save us, we are saved. God bless you and Jesus is Lord.

I really don't like this head knowledge vs. heart knowledge stuff-makes it more complicated than it ever needed to be. You either believe that Christ died and rose again and view that as sufficient payment for your sins or you don't. When you say the Holy Spirit came to you what do you mean?

I agree with Godisgood.

Hi John, you said you already knew everything before becoming a Christian, so what was different/what changed on August 9th that made the difference do you think?

Thanks!

The difference was I truly believed in it all, rather than doubt it.

I also experienced the supernatural the moment it happened

You can read about all the things technology behind a faucet can do, find it fascinating even, but belief is getting up in the night without any doubt water will come out of that faucet..

Perhaps a redefinition would be helpful. When you have head knowledge, you still have doubt. But when you believed fully in your heart, it became a complete faith without doubt.

Saving faith, which is complete in the heart, is the same as miraculous faith. We may fully believe He is our Savior and truly be born again, but still not believe that His power can fully flow through us for the miraculous to occur. But this is what simple faith is: complete faith with no doubt.

The head knowledge was "Ok I heard about all of this but I don't know".

The fully trusting in my heart was "I believe in it fully all of it with no question, I believe he raised from the dead just as much as his crucifixion."

The miraculous thing that occurred was something inside flowing in my body. I don't know what it was but it sure has changed my life or way of living.

Long story short I just believed in everything in the Bible

"But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart." (1 Sam 16:7)

"Then said Jehovah unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I watch over my word to perform it." (ASV Jeremiah 1:12)

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it." (Isa 55:8-11)

"So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." (Romans 10:17)

“No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.” (John 6:44)

"The Word is near thee, even in your mouth, and in your heart: that is the Word of faith, which we preach; that if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus Christ, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." (Romans 10:8-10)

After their hearts were pricked and they asked Peter what must we do? "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." (Acts 2:38)

Then there was the story of Saul (who became Paul--Acts 9) and Cornelius (Acts 10) who were different.

"But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His Name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." (John 1:12-3)

"Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.(John 3:5-8)

"No one can come to the Father, but through me." (part of John 14:6)

Salvation is a process that began the day you were born and will continue until the day you die. It is more scriptural to say that you are being saved.

1 Cor 9:27 ... after preaching ... I myself disqualified.
1 Cor 10:12 ... thinks that he stands ... lest he fall.
Phil 2:12 ... work out salvation with fear and trembling.
Heb 4:1 ... fear of failing to reach salvation.
1 Jn 5:16,17 ... some sins are mortal, some not.
Rom 11:21,22 ... spare branches, continue or be cut off.

You must continue to be faithful. As Mt 7:21 says, It is not those who say Lord, Lord, that will enter the kingdom of heaven, but those who do the will of the Father.
The Father's will includes keeping the commandments, loving your neighbor as yourself, being baptized, striving for holiness, etc.

There have been several threads on this topic in the Salvation forum, so I will not repeat that material.

God bless you John.

Everyone can bring you these verses, instructing this and that BUT WE KNOW THE BLESSINGS OF THE LORD FOR WE KNOW OTHERWISE, therefore i tell you John, if there ANYTHING, grab your Bible, open it, it doesn't matter. Read it. THE BOOK IS TRUTH, it will be declared, the Lord is powerful, His message will reach you. I can tell you OH THIS and THAT, it is ok, we share the faith, but the Book of the Law of the LORD, is your covenant.

But i have to ask you John, we're you atheist?

The reason i am talking to you like this is because i see your PROFILE IMAGE and i recognize it. Bless you.

Hi and it happened to LYDIA in Acts 16:14 the Lord opened here HEART !

Just like Christ did to Paul in Acts 9:6 where SAUL said " WHAT DO YOU WISH ME TO DO LORD !

In Rom 10:9 , That if you should confess with your mouth the LORD ( THAT MEANS LORD YOU ARE MY MASTER ) , and should believe in your HEART that God raised Him from the DEAD , you will be saved !!

Verse 10 For with the HEART he believes to RIGHTEOUSNESS , and with the MOUTH HE CONFESSES TO SALVATION .

Remember 1 Tim 1:16 that SAUL / PAUL is the PATTERN for the ones coming to believe on Him unto EVERLASTING LIFE !!

And verse 16 says that Paul was the FIRST / PROTOS to be saved nby GRACE !!
