You have to constantly put the Word of God on the inside of you.

Jesus said:

“I know that you are Abraham’s descendants, but you seek to kill Me, because My word has no place in you." (John 8:37).

Jesus said that the reason the Jews did not believe Him was because God's word was not abiding in them.

"And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not." (John 5:38).

King David said,

"Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You." (Psalms 119:11).

A person can hear the word of the kingdom and not understand it because the wicked one can snatch away what Word was sown in their heart:

"When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side." (Matthew 13:19).

We have to be doers of the Word, otherwise we can deceive our own selves and be a forgetful of what that verse really says or means.

22 "But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was." (James 1:22-24).

Scripture is profitable for righteous instruction (i.e. godliness) (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Any man who does not agree with godliness (Which is by knowing and applying Scripture) is proud and they know nothing.

3 "If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
4 He is proud, knowing nothing,..." (1 Timothy 6:3-4).

For the person who is of God hears God's words.

"He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God." (John 8:47) (NKJV).
So we have to hear, or obey, or apply God's Word to our lives. We have to put God's Word on the inside of us. It has to have a place within us. For Jesus said that the Pharisees wanted to kill him because His Word (God's Word) had no place within them.

Absolutely...... It is my prayer too that I may grow in His Word.... That it will become more and more alive in me.... And will do as it has promised.....

I think there are many in the church that speak against certain portions of what Scripture says. They do this because certain words of God (Scripture) had no place within them. They do not like certain parts of the Bible so there are certain verses that they cannot see. It is like certain verses do not even exist for them. Even if you show them the verses, they cannot see them.

Usually outside man made theologies snuff out a person's ability to see certain portions of God's Word. Sometimes they just do not want to see a particular verse or passage because it does not fit their lifestyle or way of living.

The pharisees were ready to sin (they sought to kill Jesus) because His Word had no place within them. This is why it is important for us all to read, believe, and accept all of God's Word in what it says plainly. We have to force God's Word on the inside of it, and not speak against it.

Jeremiah 31:31-34
“Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, declares the Lord. But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts.

2 Corinthians
Who has made us competent to be ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

Hebrews 9:15
Therefore he is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, since a death has occurred that redeems them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant.

Hebrews 8:13
In speaking of a new covenant, he makes the first one obsolete. And what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.

Luke 22:20
And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.

Hebrews 8:6
But as it is, Christ has obtained a ministry that is as much more excellent than the old as the covenant he mediates is better, since it is enacted on better promises.

Hebrews 8:7-8

They studied the Hebrew Bible but they did not believe all of it. They did not put all of it on the inside of them. Hence, why they misunderstood the Sabbath law, and hence why they were unable to see that Jesus was the Messiah and or God. For there were hundreds of Messianic prophecies that were fulfilled by Jesus.

Here is a list of 353 of them:
AccordingtotheScriptures.org :: 356 Prophecies Fulfilled in Jesus Christ

Jesus says that the Pharisees wanted to kill him because His Word had no place in them (John 8:37). Jesus said if they had believed Moses, they would have believed Him (See: John 5:46).

There is no doubt that we are under a New Covenant and the Old Covenant has passed away. But when Paul speaks how the letter kills, he is not referring to Scripture in general but he was referring to the 613 Laws of Moses that is no longer a binding contract anymore. The Law of Moses is the letter that kills because if one disobeyed certain laws within the Law of Moses, they could be stoned or put to death as a result of their disobedience of it. This is not the case under the New Covenant. Again, Jesus said that the reason why the Pharisees wanted to kill him because His Word had no place within them (John 8:37). His word. The words of God the Father that He told the Son (the Eternal Living Word made flesh) to speak. Jesus spoke words of God the Father and they were later written down by the Spirit by men of God. The audible words of God were spoken first unlike with the Law of Moses. God gave Moses the ten commandments on tablets of stone, and then God gave Moses the words to write the Torah or the fives books of Moses (i.e. Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy). This is why the New Covenant was not initially written with ink. The New Covenant was first going out in audible form and later it was written down in ink (i.e. Scripture). The New Covenant (New Testament) was not initially made in ink (unlike with the Torah or the OT), but the NT was later put down into ink later.

3 "If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;

Amen. God's Word is like "spiritual manna", which was given to, and eaten by the Israelites DAILY.

It's like "spiritual bread" (manna) that nourishes us and strengthens and sustains us "daily". And therefore it must be "consumed" daily.

Yes. The New Testament describes the conditions of the new covenant.
No, Paul was not referring to people being stoned. He was referring to the legalism where people thought they gained grace through following all the laws.

Mark 14:24
And he said to them, “This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many.

Romans 8:1-39
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. ...

Romans 7:6
But now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code.

Bible Highlighter, I see you quoting from modern versions here. Guess your KJVO myth went "POOF!" in your mind. But if you change your mind again, I started a thread in response to one of your pro-KJVO posts.

Seeing you have a strong antagonism towards the KJV, there is no sense in me in trying to reason with you on why I believe the KJV is divine in origin. Believe as you wish. Nothing I will show you will convince you unless you are open to checking out the other side of the fence.

Oh, and if you were to read the latter half of my OP (post #1) in the recently closed KJV thread here, you would see why I use Modern Translations.

Reasons why I believe the KJV is the divinely inspired perfect Word of God.

Note: This is not a KJV thread. So please do not make it one. Thank you;
And may God bless you.

In certain portions of Scripture that you quoted it talks about the end of the Old Covenant and the establishment of the New Covenant. The Old Covenant included the Law of Moses that had laws on stoning. So I disagree. The words of NT Scripture do not kill. It was the Law of Moses that obviously killed because if one broke the Old Law, they would be killed. For Paul says all Scripture is profitable for instruction in righteousness and correction so that the man of God may be perfect unto every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

Note: This is not a KJV thread. So please do not make it one. Thank you;
And may God bless you.

Thing is, the KJV is NOT perfect. "Easter" in Acts 12:4 is a major goof. And the HUMAN makers of the KJV are known; it was no more under Divine inspiration than any other valid Bible translation.

That being said, Sir, I shall bow outta this thread for now. If you wish to defend the KJV, I've started a KJVO myth thread.

To all:

When Jesus says we must be born again of water, I believe that this is in reference to acknowledging how we had a transformation by the communicated Word of God. I believe that while the Parable of the sower appears to refer to the gospel message and or in receiving Christ as one's Savior, I believe it can also refer to the acceptance of other words in Scripture, as well. For whatever words of God in the Bible we do not accept, they will be snatched out by the enemy and they will not be believed by us. This is why it is vitally important for us to believe every Word of God in our Bibles (even if we may not like what it says). But when I talk with many Christians today, they appear to speak against what the Bible says in certain places.

I believe "born of water" refers to the fact that EVERYONE BUT ADAM & EVE was born of water. A human embryo/fetus won't grow outside of water. The 2nd birth is spiritual, of course.

And the reason for disbelief of some words in a given Bible version is that they're obvious goofs, such as "Easter" in the KJV's Acts 12:4 or Matthew 26:31 in the NIV:"Then Jesus told them, "This very night you will all fall away on account of me…". It SHOULD read "stumble", not fall away. Many stumble without falling.

As for being born of water:

Ephesians 5:25-27 says that Christ gave Himself for the church so that He might sanctify us with the washing of the water of the Word so that He might present to Himself a church who is holy, blameless, without spot, or wrinkle, etc.

25 "...even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish."
(Ephesians 5:25-27).

Jesus says, "Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you." (John 15:3).

"Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word." (Psalms 119:9).

So the water = the Word of God.

So when a person is said to be born of water, it is not talking about baptism, or being born physically into this world, but it is talking about being born again by the Holy Scriptures.

Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.” (1 Peter 1:23).

What is the context of the words “the word of God” in 1 Peter 1:23? Is it Jesus (the Living Word) or is it the communicated Word of God (Scripture)?

1 Peter 2:1-2 says,
“Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:”

That washing occurs after the spiritual birth. But again, everyone's born of water.
