I don't know about the other series mentioned, except for "The Promised Neverland."

Years ago when the manga series was relatively new, I wrote a review of it. Obviously back then, the anime adaptation was not out yet.

The beginning of the series had the premise of a group of children aged 12, down to infants, where they were "farmed" to be food for a group of monsters. It can be very disturbing when reading it due to the dark theme in the artwork and the basis of the story, particularly when it is involving infants and children and using them as food. In fact the place where the children were staying was named a plantation or farm and there were multiple of them. Well, I wouldn't want to go on telling the story as it may become a spoiler for those who have interest to read or watch the series.

As much as the series does not have any implicit sexual content, it is still portraying some form of a dark theme. Some people even called it satanic. This isn't one of those series which has a dark theme out there. I believe the others that were mentioned could be similar too. One would have to read or watch these series with care.

The OP lists series such as Fullmetal Alchemist, Cowboy Bebop, and Made In Abyss in the safe category, and my own opinion is that The Promised Neverland should fit right in with those.

I would not use the word "safe" as per say rather I would use the word "appropriate". Meaning suitable for certain age groups.

I see nothing wrong with animes that present subjects Christians deem out-of-line with our teachings; such as sexualization, violence, gore, torture, witchcraft, magic and negative portrayal of the divine. They're just fictions, ideas to tell in interesting stories. If every story has to follow a checklist of "wholesomeness" it will be the same story all the time; every time.

We live in this world but are not of it (John 17:14–19). We cannot create a "clean Christian bubble" to live in. It will affect us and how we interact with other people. People will begin to see us as nothing more than holier than thou and unrelatable. And in the long run it changes us personally to actually be unable to relate with other people. The way we talk and the way we act.

I have seen too often non-believers ask me personally why the Christians they meet are so snobbish and oversensitive. I tell them the Christians they meet are just like me normal human beings. They often tell me that I'm the exception not the norm when they deal with Christians.

Deep down I know how they view us. For I myself have seen it in person how "righteous" Christians talk and act. Even I feel somewhat erk by what I experienced. To be fair I have seen the same behavior from the "righteous" of other faiths.

How are we to spread the Good News when the mere first impression leaves a revolting feeling?

I'm not advocating for living a sinful lifestyle but rather just experience the world like other people experience them.

Naruto is not safe fam neither is Onepiece.
Naruto is full of reincarnation, death, possession, Chakra.
Onepiece has demons and possession too.

Before I was a Christian, I watched heaps of Anime. Now when I see it, I can't help but see the evil. Unfortunately, we must remember anime is made by Japanese artists who draw on inspiration from their culture and religion, and it is extremely spiritual without Christ.

That's how it works with just about any given culture or society.

Holding the mindset that "If it's not like my culture, I'm not watching it" will cut people off from a *lot* of material that might otherwise uplift them and inspire them.

What I was speaking about had nothing to do with culture but spiritualism.

I like Japanese culture, have travel around Japan but their spiritualism is not based on Christ.

In these anime as I said before showcase demons, possession, covenants being made with spirits and a lot more that is not Christian friendly.

Here are some of the anime's I really enjoy watching that I feel is safe for most Christians
- Violet Evergarden (masterpiece in cathartic storytelling)
- Demon Slayer (great show about forgiveness and seeing the best in others even if they seem unredeemable. One of my favorite aspects of this show is that the villains have to pay the price still even after being humanized)
- Anohana is a pretty great show about friendship and community.
- Charlotte has some great ideas but little time to pull them off so the last few episodes are rushed!
- Erased is great.

All of what I recommended would probably be for teens (14+) and up.

Most Precure stuff is perfectly kid-friendly. Maybe some yuri stuff in some, I don't know, I haven't watched them all.

Also, aside from the religious elements, Gabriel Dropout is really low on violence and lewdness, unless you count slapstick. However, it may turn you into a Sataniaist.

A lot of shows mentioned in this thread aren't really "safe". Depending on what your definition of safe is. Then there's the fact that witchcraft is involved when tv shows are produced.

I'd say the kid friendly anime would be, but they can be suspect too.

How about Tonikaku Kawaii (TONIKAWA: Over The Moon For You) and Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie?

I can't watch anime to much anymore cause there's so much occult images and themes. Im sure it's generally understood the religious state of japan.. but the live action j-drama I've found to be acceptable. There's of course plenty of things that are not so. But there's lots that don't seem to entertain cursing or explicit stuff.. I love a good medical drama! I would Def check some of those out!

The same for stuff from western media or other countries. A lot of people from all nations don't have God/Jesus Christ on their minds.

I don't think there is any anime that you can say are completely "safe". But you can say that there are some anime that are less offensive or troubling than others.
