Full armor of God, would be the Bible every word of it. Believe it over any words that state other wise.

Example Joshua 10 gives an account of Joshua commanding the sun and moon to stop moving. But most christians do not believe this account given in the Bible as stated in Joshua. Because science has corrupted the christians Biblical view of Gods creation as stated in The Bible.

See many this day, have turned parts of the Bible into metaphorical meanings because mostly of science or some history that speaks against the witness of the Bible.

1. The helmet of Salvation
2. The breastplate of righteousness
3. The shield of faith
4. The sword of the spirit
5. The girdle of truth
6. The sandals of the gospel of peace

Put them on in your mind for protection against evils

Can someone give a summed up, simple explanation for how one does this? I was trying to research it, but still had some issues getting it. Thanks.

The Apostle St. Paul here in Ephesians compares those matters of Christian faith with the military equipment worn by a Roman soldier. Paul makes this analogy as part of his statement that our struggle, or contest, isn't with other people; but rather with the powers that be. The devils yes, but also, our struggle as Christians is often the ideologies, the views, the sensibilities of the world. Where the world rewards power and violence, that isn't how the Christian is to operate, that isn't the way of the Church. Which is why our weapon isn't a sword, but the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which is the "sword of the Spirit", the word of God. We guard ourselves from the flaming arrows of the devils by our faith, our faith, our confidence and trust in Jesus Christ, we can boldly proclaim our faith in Christ and the devil becomes wholly disarmed.

We don't "put on" something, like an exercise or something. What Paul means is simply to hold to these things, hold to faith, hold to the Gospel of peace, hold to God's promises, hold to justice, etc. These things are what get us from today to tomorrow. Thus be peaceful, be truthful, be faithful, pursue justice, cling to faith, be confident in God's promises to you which are in Jesus Christ. Christ died for you, and Christ is risen, death and hell and the devil are defeated, your sins are forgiven, believe the Good News, for this is most certainly true. That's our spiritual armor.

It's a conscious declaration of what Christ has done for us in the face of the enemy. No soldier goes to war without his weapon and uniform. So we can say that Christ is our salvation, which is our helmet. It protects our mind. When Satan accuses us, we have the answer. Hint: it is always something that Lord Jesus has done for us. Are we attacked for our behaviour? It's not always good. But we can point to the Lord Jesus being our righteousness all the time. Satan lies continually. We put on Lord Jesus as the belt of Truth - He is the Truth! When we are unsettled because of the enemy's attacks, our stability lies in the peace that passes understanding - our footwear. We need to take the attack to the enemy. We have God's word, the Sword of the Spirit. We can attack Satan any time that we need to. It's the only weapon that we need. Again, Lord Jesus is the Word. Finally we have the shield of faith. When flaming arrows of accusation are fired at us, we can defeat them by declaring what Christ has done for us. We stand by faith in the work of Lord Jesus on the cross - He said, "It is finished!"

We take to ourselves, we put the armor on. God doesn't make us do it and He doesn't do it for us BUT it is His armor and we need each and every component of it "Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God..." "Put on the whole armour of God, ..." In Isa 59, God put on His own armor so that helps us to realize how vital it is. With zeal, He destroyed the enemies to protect His people and be their Redeemer. That's what He and His armor does for us

"Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;" His Word is truth (Psa 119:16, Pro 30:5-6, John 17:17). We're to put on the "...breastplate of faith and love..." Faith working righteousness by love (I Thess 5:8, Gal 2:20, I Joh 4:16). The breastplate protects our hearts. Since there's about 1,000 verses about our hearts just selected a couple - "For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." (Matt 6:21). "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh." (Luk 6:45) Because of Christ's sacrifice, when we become believers, we become the righteousness of God in Christ (II Cor 5:17-21).

'...your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;" (Matt 24:14, Mark 16:15, Rom 10:15, The great commission, Matt 28;16-20) In the OT, their iniquities (one example- defined in Isa 59 with consequences included) had separated them from God - as it does us. There were no intercessors nor any one to lead in righteous. So God put on His own armor.with zeal as a cloak and destroyed the enemies Then the people had the fear of the Lord (Isa 59). This is a reverent, worshipful "...fear of the Lord leads to life, and he who has it rests satisfied; he cannot be visited with [actual] evil." (Pro 19:23). "Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him,, and make our abode with him." John 14:23 Pro 2:1-5 tells us how to have the fear of the Lord.

"Above all, taking the shield of faith..." God is our shield when we put our trust in Him (Pro 30:5-6). With their shields, the Roman soldiers covered themselves completely and enabled them to stand side by side - in other words, shield to shield as a wall of protection against their foe. As believers, we have been reconciled to God and are baptized by the Holy Spirit into the body of Christ by believing in His death, burial, and resurrection.

"And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:" God has chosen us and we agreed to His plan that's open to whosoever will (John 3:16). "For godly grief and the pain God is permitted to direct, produce a repentance that leads and contributes to salvation and deliverance from evil, and it never brings regret; ..." (II Cor 7;10). After we believe and have faith in Him,, instead of our sins describing us, God defines our Christian identity as righteous - not ashamed (Psa 34:5), not disgraced (Isa 50:7), nor shameful (Isa 50:7, Eph 4:15, I Joh 1:9). Then - we proceed, we accept, we willfully believe Scripture such as "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (I John 1:9). God's Word is His truth. (II TIM 3:14-16).

Then "...having done all...." When fiery darts come, put up that shield of faith to protect yourself. Faith comes from hearing the word of God, His truth (Rom 10:17). His word is spirit and life to us (John 6:63). We're to speak His Word (Psa 145:21, Pro 8:7, I Pet 4:11).

Also, by putting on the whole armor of God, we gain His benefits which we need - "...be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might." "... that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil." "...wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked." (I Pet 5:8, John 10:10). Though God's armor on us seems very individualistic, it also has an alertness/concern/love for others; i.e., sharing the gospel, having the breastplate of love, and praying for other believers. Also, another benefit is being able to stand. Four times in this chapter, we're told to "...stand." We stand firm, steadfast and unmovable resisting every attack because of what Christ did and faith in Him and His Word. We are victorious (I John 5:4-5).He is always with us even to the ends of the earth (Matt 28).

Believe v18 is part of the armor "Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;" "Embrace the power of salvation’s full deliverance, like a helmet to protect your thoughts from lies. And take the mighty razor-sharp Spirit-sword of the spoken Word of God. Pray passionately in the Spirit, as you constantly intercede with every form of prayer at all times. Pray the blessings of God upon all his believers." TPT

Armor up.

I will try to explain how I understand it.

The helmet of salvation- Guard your mind. Our mind is the devil's target. The battle is to win our minds. So we need to be constantly aware of our thoughts and imaginations. Is it righteous or not?
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ 2 Corinthians 10:5

Breastplate of righteousness-Walk in righteousness for it is worthy of acceptance but the paths of iniquity will quickly be destroyed.

Shield of faith-And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Hebrews 11:6
Only faith can move mountains.

Sword of the Spirit-It is the Word of God and if you know the Word the enemy can't bring you down with his lies.

The belt of truth-Again here the Word of God is truth. Jesus is truth and the immovable rock of our lives. Stand on the rock that is Jesus and nothing will move you and bring you down.
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash".Matthew 7:24-27

Sandals of the gospel of peace. Spread the gospel.

Also you need to pray in the Holy Spirit. Pray in tongues.

It's a reminder to me that we are to be prepared for the battle. Therefore the battle is a God-promised reality, not a judgment from God on our lives. God has provided what we need to stand, today, tomorrow, and in that future day.

It means to strengthen yourself in the Christian faith by doing these things:
Read and study the Bible, and memorize pertinent verses (to be used at appropriate times).
Fellowship with other Christians, and develop your Christlike character amid the relational temptations.
Pray for yourself and others, and for the nation, and for spiritual revival in the world.

Much of the Bible is figurative, and requires thinking about what it means in a practical sense.

I second the recommendation of the book The Armor Of God" by Priscila Shirer. I lead a Bible Study of women inmates in my jail ministry with this book. It was very illuminating and thought provoking.

Thanks,The study was so good our womens bible study did it twice.

These are components of your faith and character. The more they are present, the better you are equipped to do well spiritually. Because there is an invisible, spiritual war going on and because our moral and faith-related decisions have spiritual consequences for ourselves and others, our moral and faith-related decisions matter. Having the full armor equipped means that each component is informing us, either passively or actively.

Interestingly enough, God himself is spoken of wearing salvation as a helmet in Isaiah 59:17.

To "put on the whole armor of God" is, essentially, to be born-again. Salvation (Acts 4:12), truth (John 14:6), faith (2 Corinthians 4:11-13; Romans 8:9-10), the Gospel - these are all centered in Christ. To "put on Christ," then, is to put on the armor of God. And one "puts on Christ" by being born-again of the Spirit into Christ.

Romans 13:12-14
12 The night is almost gone, and the day is near. Therefore let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.
13 Let us behave properly as in the day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and sensuality, not in strife and jealousy.
14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts.

Galatians 3:26-27
26 For you are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

(See: Romans 6:1-6)

All those who have been born-again have "put on the whole armor of God"; for that "armor" is Christ into whom the believer has been "baptized" by the Spirit (Titus 3:5), and thus "clothed" in him.

Ephesians 4:20-24
20 But you did not learn Christ in this way,
21 if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught in Him, just as truth is in Jesus,
22 that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit,
23 and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind,
24 and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.

Colossians 3:2-3
2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.
3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

I think most of us have gathered what it means, but it is probably a little hard to understand due to the fact that there is not much of a distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not. I think most will agree that you do not need to be a Christian to be a good person, however, it makes perfect sense when you read it in its context which is that Paul is referring to "a day of evil" that will come in verse 13.

Ephesians 6:13 "Therefore put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand."

So, it would appear that this "day of evil" is when there is a period when Christianity becomes obscure or highly subjective and Truth is thrown to the ground. (Dan. 8:12) It is then that The Armour of God will be most needed for those that continue to believe.

If you ask me, this "day of evil" Paul is referring to is perhaps what many Christians of the eschatological variety deem as "the great tribulation."
