It’s an exchange of, dumb, ideas not any sort of attack.
Nobody talks like this unless they are making a mockery out of something or someone, which is why I'm of the opinion that it's a prank.
Is this an individual person in an isolated situation that you are now painting ALL "leftists" as?
I'm an atheist, socially liberal, perhaps slightly fiscally conservative. I don't care if people put Christmas lights up or not, I don't care if people have Christmas trees or not, don't care if people take Christmas holidays or not, don't care if people say "Merry Christmas" or not.
My mother is atheist and she generally puts up a Christmas tree with lights on it.
We exchange presents and eat lots of food.
Me and the wife we buy our presents for each other after Christmas, when all the sales happen.
I prefer Easter because chocolate is Yum, but at least Christmas comes in the Summer time and barbecues at the beach are always fun.
Even if you don't like it attempting to invoke shame is not an attack upon another its a cheap bit of rhetoric. One often used by preachers for some reason.Trying to shame someone into stopping something they are free to do is an attack.
Such as this?
The letter, signed as if it were from Santa Claus, read, "Please remove your negro Santa Claus yard decoration. You should try not to deceive children into believing that I am negro. I am a caucasian (white man, to you) and have been for the past 600 years. Your being jealous of my race is no excuse for your dishonesty. Besides that, you are making yourself the laughing stock of the neighborhood. Obviously, your values are not that of the Lakewood area and maybe you should move to a neighborhood out east with the rest of your racist kind.”
Family with Black Santa display heartened by community support after hateful letter
I don't see how a person having Christmas lights on their tree can offend anyone. The words were used a leftist or some leftists. I don't believe the word all was used.
I'm glad you don't care. I think most are like you. But there are quite a few that are very vocal about things like this. It's not just about Christmas. This incident just happens to include Christmas. It's more about the demand From some leftists that want to shame people into giving up their freedoms because they might offend someone who has a different point of view.
Of course it is. "Xmas" is a shorthand way of writing "Christmas" that finds its root in using the Greek letter Chi (X) to mean Christ in the historic church.
It’s an exchange of, dumb, ideas not any sort of attack.
Using language like systemic bias does not mean it is an example of systemic bias. The more people like this whine about the non-existent war on Christmas, the more they are easily tuned out. But these same folks already tuned themselves out when they latched themselves to philandering, unscrupulous politicians that traffic in racism and xenophobia. As always, people will celebrate Christmas as they do every year, without this fraudulent claim of oppression or hypocrisy registering in even throwaway conversations.
Happy holidays!
Xmas was started as a way to stop offending non believers. I remember when it started showing up.
Assuming that’s you in your avatar, you look pretty good for being 1,000 years old.
The letter that prompt the article this thread is centered on.What is an exchange of dumb ideas?
Man the right must be bored having to grasp at straws like that.
Do I need to remind you all of the time the right cried about Starbucks cups? No? I thought so.
Amazing. Leftists control everything from CHAZ to HOAs.
And the actions of an HOA are evidence of who is controlling the HOA. You are not trying to say that it was conservatives demanding the cross come down are you? Because we do it all the time. Right?
Yup. You're right. From that article:HOAs are notorious for objecting to all sorts of things, from basketball hoops to what color you can paint your house. Sight unseen, I'm willing to bet money that it had nothing to do with religion, and everything to do with the HOA rules.
The Board said:The Board believes that the Bible is very clear on the distinction between these two major events in Christ’s life on earth. The cross is appropriate for display during the Easter season, but not as a decoration during the Christmas season. Unless biblical references can be provided noting the cross as a symbol of the Christmas season for the board to reconsider, the cross is not considered to be a Christmas decoration.
