There is a pop belief going around in certain seminaries, which I won't name which ones, that are wrongly teaching that the 1st beast that comes up out of the 'sea' of Revelation 13:1, is about the Antichrist as a concept, pretty much leaving it open to just any interpretation one desires about "antichrist", except the only true interpretation that the Scriptures point to.

Then for their interpretation about the 2nd beast which Rev.13 mentions in verse 11, they push the "false prophet" label on that one when the Revelation 13:11 verse is pointing to the "dragon" (i.e., Satan per Rev.12:9). The "false prophet" idea is from Revelation 16.

The Revelation 17 chapter helps define the symbols in Rev.13, because it tells you more info as to what they mean. So really, both chapters should be studied together, along with other relevant chapters in God's Word, like Daniel 7.

If one sticks to the Scriptures as actually written, then all their cloudiness in it gets cleared away...

Rev 13:1-14
13:1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.

This 1st beast comes up out of the "sea", so waters are used as a symbol. This beast has ten horns, seven heads, and ten crowns, which that second verse along with it especially point to the beast kingdom symbols given in Daniel 7. Thus the Daniel 7 chapter is made part of this Rev.13 revealing by Lord Jesus via His servant John.

In Rev.17, we are told the "seven heads" are "seven mountains". And that the "great harlot" sits upon "many waters" and also sits upon "seven heads and ten horns". We are also told those "waters" represent "peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues". That is about that 1st beast of Rev.13:1-2. It is about a 'kingdom' beast, a world-wide system over all the nations upon earth for the end of this world. It is the final 5th beast part of Daniel 2, the beast of the feet of ten toes made of part iron mixed with part clay. It is NOT the Antichrist. It's his beast kingdom. The Antichrist is not a system, nor kingdom; the Antichrist is an entity, a person.

3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.

Per Rev.17, the "seven heads" are "seven mountains", which is about this 1st beast, a beast kingdom over all nations that the "great harlot" sits upon. One of the beast kingdom's 7 heads (one of its 7 mountains) suffered a "deadly wound", not the Antichrist.

When we look at Rev.17 about the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit, and learn of "the beast that was, and is not, and yet is", that is about this "deadly wound" that one of the seven heads suffered, and then is healed. There is even a direct connection to the Revelation 17:8 verse about those who will "wonder" when they behold that beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit, and he goes into perdition. Here in Revelation 13:3, we are told that same idea of "all the world wondered after the beast." So once again, Rev.17 is helping to explain these symbols in Rev.13. We just have to pay attention in study there.

Thus this "deadly wound" upon one of the beast kingdom's "seven mountains" happened some time in the past, and then for this Revelation beast system (which is for the end of this world), that deadly wound is healed. A question we might ask ourselves at this point is, "well who or what healed that deadly wound, and when exactly?" And remember, per Revelation 17:8, the beast was, and is not, and yet is, when all the world will wonder after it.

4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?

Per Rev.12:9 we know that "dragon" title is just another title for Satan, for he has many. These next verses reveal the whole world will worship that "dragon", except for Christ's elect whose names were written in the book of life from the foundation of the world. Per the end of this Rev.13 chapter, the Antichrist, who will speak as a "dragon", is who will setup the "image of the beast" for all to bow in worship to. So make no mistake, this is revealing that it will be Satan himself the whole world will worship as the coming Antichrist.

5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.
6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.
7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
9 If any man have an ear, let him hear.
10 He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.

Those above events of his blaspheming against God, and having power over the saints for a time, and a times, and half a time (i.e., 3.5 years, or 42 months), was first mentioned in the Book of Daniel, especially Daniel 7:25. And those Daniel scriptures were describing a single person, mentioned as a "little horn" that comes up among ten horns, which Revelation 17:13-14 points to with the one the ten horns give their power to. So really, Rev.13 and prophecy in the Book of Daniel are linked together here by our Lord Jesus.

Rev.13:11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.

There we have another pointer to the "dragon" symbol again. And who is the "dragon"? It's another title for Satan himself. This "another beast" means a 2nd beast. But this one comes up out of the earth, and is a person. This 2nd beast is... the coming Antichrist. Who comes up out of the earth do you think? Revelation 11 speaks of a beast that ascends... out of the bottomless pit to kill God's two witnesses. In Revelation 9:11 we are told the angel over the bottomless pit is named Destroyer in Hebrew and in Greek. Who is that, and here is association speaking as a dragon?

This false one coming, having two horns 'like' a lamb (Jesus), but speaks as a dragon, and comes up out of the earth (i.e., bottomless pit), is the Antichrist, an individual, not a kingdom. This is Satan himself. He is that king angel of Rev.9:11 that is over the bottomless pit, the abyss. That pit is his to rule over. It's as simple as that. Keeping to these symbols in revealing 'within' God's Word, easily reveals this. But our Heavenly Father allows Satan's workers to deceive you away from this understanding in God's Word, if you allow it by straying from the written Word of God.

Furthermore, this idea of that false one that speaks as a dragon, but has the two horns 'like' a lamb (Jesus), is pointing directly to our Lord Jesus' warning about the coming pseudo-Christ which He forewarned of in His Olivet discourse (Matthew 24:23-26).

I must warn you, the KJV of Matthew 24:24 has "false Christs" plural in English, but the actual reading and subject flow of the 23-26 verses is about a singular false-Messiah in Jerusalem for the end that Lord Jesus said to not believe on. Dr. James Strong in his Strong's Exhaustive Concordance defined Greek pseudochristos there as 'a spurious Messiah'. The early Church fathers also warned about this singular Antichrist person for the end of this world setup as a king in Jerusalem, and even declared that he will claim to be of the tribe of Judah, since he will present himself as the Messiah prophesied to come per the Old Testament scriptures. That is who this section in Rev.13 is talking about, the coming false Messiah at the end of this world, the first mentioned "antichrist" that Apostle John said the brethren had heard shall come (1 John 2:18).

12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.

There a distinction is clearly made between the two beasts idea. This "another beast", one who speaks as a dragon, the Antichrist, will exercise all the power of the 1st beast. The first beast is the ten horned, seven headed, ten crowned beast kingdom over the whole earth. Simple. The whole world will agree with that future beast kingdom system, and will even be saying, "Peace and safety" in that future time because of what it will do for them (1 Thessalonians 5:1-9; Daniel 8:25 about craft prospering by the Antichrist's hand).

This 2nd beast, a king, is who heals the "deadly wound" of Rev.13:3. We are shown in Rev.17:10 that he is to be the 7th beast king, and must continue a short space (i.e., the tribulation time). That is about this Antichrist, a beast king. He is who will heal the "deadly wound" that was upon one of the 1st beast's seven heads.

Since Rev.17 tells us the "seven heads" are "seven mountains", and that "deadly wound" was upon only one of those heads, then where would that have been on earth? What area or mountain on earth? And by the symbol of a mountain being used, per usage by God's Word that is pointing to the idea of a high or exalted area over other areas.

Recall Rev.17 about the beast that was, and is not, and yet is. What were we shown in Revelation 12:3-4 about a beast system with ten horns, seven heads, but only seven crowns, and at a time when the "red dragon" drew a third of the stars (angels) of heaven to the earth? That was about Satan's original rebellion in the time of old, before this present world, before Adam and Eve. THAT... was when the "deadly wound" happened, and it was upon one of that old beast system's heads. It was when Satan first rebelled in coveting God's Throne!

Some might say, "Wait a minute. You mean Satan tried to be GOD in the old world that was?" Yes! Exactly. And Satan did that upon this old earth, drawing a third of the angels into rebellion with him. That is what the Revelation 12:3-4 event is pointing us to. Thus we are to 'understand'... that the idea of a beast kingdom, that one there of ten horns, seven heads, but only seven crowns, was Satan's beast kingdom of old when he first rebelled.

What might that mean for this system in Rev.13 for the end of this world? He is coming to do it again, that's what it means. He is coming to 'heal' his beast kingdom type he tried to setup in the world of old, and that he has been trying to create through flesh men's kingdoms during this present world. But this time, like that time of old when he first rebelled against God, he will be this coming beast king for the end of this world! Are you prepared in your mind and heart in Christ for that? If you belong to Jesus Christ, then you should be, because this is exactly the main event for the end of this world He is warned us about!

Where exactly do you think Satan had that 'head' on earth, one of the seven mountains, that suffered a "deadly wound"? Well, since his original rebellion involved his trying to usurp God's Throne, where on earth did God declare that He has chosen for Himself to dwell forever? What, did you say JERUSALEM, that area on earth? YES! That's the 'head' that suffered the deadly wound in the time of old when Satan tried to play God, and God ended that old world, all the cities were broken down, and there was no man, and He caused the earth to tremble out of its place (Jeremiah 4:23-28). This is why Satan as the "dragon" is coming to this world again, to JERUSALEM, to heal the "deadly wound" it suffered by God's destruction of that old world!

Didn't Apostle Paul kind of warn us about this coming event in Jerusalem? Yeah, he did...

2 Thess 2:3-4
3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

KJV

That is about another Jewish temple to be built for the end of this world. Today's orthodox Jews in Jerusalem already have the materials ready to build it and startup old covenant worship again in Jerusalem. They are still expecting Messiah's 1st coming, so they still do not believe our Lord Jesus was Messiah. God is going to send them a false one first, and they will believe on that "dragon", and worship him in place of God. No wonder God's Word shows them wishing for the hills and mountains to fall upon them, because of the shame they will be in when Lord Jesus Christ does return after that future event (Luke 23:27-31).

13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
KJV

No wonder that coming Antichrist cannot be a pope, Mooney, nor any flesh man, because that false one is going to have the power to do supernatural miracles! Satan has that kind of power! Those who don't understand this will literally 'wonder' at him when he does those miracles. They will not know his real identity, but will actually think he is God having come to our world. So the majority will have no problem bowing in false worship to him in place of Messiah.

And forget all the false stories about the coming Antichrist by Satan's servants that say Antichrist is coming to wreak chaos and havoc upon the earth; they are teaching opposite of what God's Word reveals about him! And who do you think would be behind them to do that false teaching opposite of God's Word? How many outlets in this world do you think Satan's servants have infiltrated and taken over, especially this close to the end?

Davy, may I make a suggestion? To make it easier for other readers to know what you are going to set out to prove in your post.

Edit your opening post, insert at the top in the beginning, a couple of brief statements...

The first beast is ....(then use your words to say beast kingdom, not a person)

The second beast is ..........(then use your words to say, the Antichrist, who will be Satan)

That the second beast and false prophet are the same is obvious.

Revelation 16:13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.

John clearly implies here that he had previously mentioned "the false prophet" just as he had previously mentioned the dragon and the beast (first beast). Otherwise, we'd have to conclude that he mentioned "the false prophet" out of the blue here as if people would somehow know what he was referring to despite not mentioning it before. That would not make sense.

Since he gave no explanation of the identity of the false prophet in Rev 16:13 that means the false prophet had to have been previously mentioned as having a close relationship with the dragon and the first beast. And that means the false prophet has to be the second beast.

The following verse confirms that the false prophet is the second beast:

Revelation 19:20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

This description of the false prophet in Rev 19:20 clearly matches the description of the second beast here:

Rev 13:11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. 12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. 13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, 14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. 15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. 16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

This really couldn't be more clear. Both the second beast and false prophet do miracles before the first beast. Both the second beast and false prophet deceive people to worship the image of the first beast. Both the second beast and false prophet cause people to receive the mark of the beast. Therefore, the second beast is the false prophet.

Good observation.

The second beast "IS" the false prophet. Unfortunately, church history shows that many theologians tried to label or definition this false prophet with something they can "see" such as the Roman Catholic Church or Papal to fit their false interpretation assume it has to do with seven mountains, etc.

No, we get God's definition in the Bible. Not our private interpretation based on what we read in the newspaper or history book.

For example, the 10 horns are symbolic and thus illustrating certain characteristics or aspects. They are not actual horns, nor actual physical kings (men), rather they merely represent some aspect of these people. Namely, God has already defined the horns in His Holy Word, that they represent power. So people are given power and the symbol of a king "represents their rule. In other words, power to reign. To many theologians, they thought someone in power with a physical throne, government office, etc. somewhere in Europe. People tend to be looking at it as if the horns are actual kings, when the horns signify power and the kings signify rule! God is talking about the power the false prophets and christs receive where they will sit (rule) in HIS HOUSE, the church! Like wise with the image of four great beasts of Daniel and says they are four kings. It didn't mean the kings were actually men or beasts, only that beasts symbolized some characteristic of their rule.

Exactly what is a beast to God. It is a BODY of people with the spirit of antichrist. Not one particular man. That is why the power (horns) are kings, or more succinctly and biblically put, "the beast recieves power to rule or reign" through these kings of the earth. They do battle with the True Saints, in spiritual warfare for the control of the camp of the saints - the church. Horns=Power=Kings=Ruling.

Ephesians 6:12
  • "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."
Satan comes as a messenger of light, and his ministers as ministers of righteousness. They are the false prophets. They are the wicked kings of the earth as Satan's ministers coming with power as rulers of the darkness of this world, yet sits in the very House of God. People like Joel Osteen, Paula White, Joyce Myers, etc. They are being perceived by many delusional professing Christians in the church thinking they are children of light sent by God but are not! It is no small thing.

God has already defined who a false prophet is in Scripture that you can look it up. The second beast or false prophet is the BODY of false prophets coming in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves because of their lying signs and wonders. They are all over many churches today, indeed!

The holy prophets (Elect) are the church messengers of God that faithfully declare God's word from out of the Bible. The false prophets, however, are those who unfaithfully declare God's word from outside sources, such as their personal opinions, private interpretations, the imaginations of their own willful hearts, or what they want to believe rather than what is written authoritatively. We prophesy both of what was, what is, and what is to come. And the words (testimony) of the true prophets torment the unsaved as if it were fire from our mouths because they don't like to hear it. They are adversaries to it. While those with the office or gift of being a prophet speak more precisely to what God has written, we are all divinely inspired messengers of God. We are the two prophets, the two Candlesticks, the two Olive Trees:

Revelation 11:5-7
  • "And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.
  • These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.
  • And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them."
When Satan comes out of the bottomless pit, he will give the false prophets the power to overcome the testimony of True Elects so that more and more people in the church will be deceived by the doctrines of Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyers, etc. This is what God is talking about here.

Not about Rome, Papal, or Antichrist ruling from Jerusalem in Israel. The church is the new testament representative of God's kingdom on Earth after the cross. Not national Israel.

There is only Satan, the FP, and the image. The beast is the image, brought to life. The FP is the first beast of 13, and the dragon is Satan, the 2nd beast of 13. Satan empowers the FP. Then Satan shows up and creates a human form image of the FP. Then Satan breathes life into this image and it is a beast, with no name, but presented as a messiah, savor of mankind.

So let's see where this idea of the "false prophet" comes from...

Rev 16:12-17
12 And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.

13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.

14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

There is the first mention of the idea of the "false prophet". It doesn't come from the Rev.13 chapter, it comes from this one, and it is linked to the event of the 6th Trumpet - 2nd Woe of Rev.9.

Notice all 3 of these symbolic entities come "working miracles". And notice that the "dragon" is mentioned as one of those 3. Who did Lord Jesus show us is the "dragon" per Rev.12:9? It is another title for Satan himself, not another, not a flesh man, but Satan himself. And what does that "another beast" of Rev.13:11 appear like? He appears with 2 horns LIKE a lamb (Jesus), but will speak as a "dragon"! Thus that "another beast" is indeed... Satan himself doing those miracles of Rev.13, making fire come down from heaven to the earth in the sight of men! (Revelation 13:11-13).

Did you notice that the above "false prophet" and the "beast" also do those miracles? How does that work?

Just as with the Book of Daniel about the idea of the 'beast', that symbol is applied to both a kingdom, and a king. Revelation switches back and forth pointing to both, so we have to be very careful and not get the two of them confused. For example, the "another beast" is associated with a false person that works the signs and wonders, and miracles to deceive the whole world with. Is that the kingdom beast, or the king beast? It's the king beast, the one who speaks as a "dragon" (Satan). The Rev.13:1 beast that has ten crowns, seven heads, and ten horns, which beast is that, a kingdom beast, or the king beast? It's the kingdom beast, because Rev.17 defines those ten horns as ten kings, and the seven heads as seven mountains, or areas of the earth. It's a system over the earth, not a person.

But what actually defines who this "false prophet" and "beast" are which also do those miracles?

They are ROLES that Satan as the "dragon" will play for the end when he arrives here on earth, in OUR dimension. The way we know this is because in Revelation 19:20 tells us the "false prophet" and "beast" are cast into the "lake of fire" on the day of Christ's return. That means they are already judged and sentenced to perish in that lake of fire. As of yet today, NO flesh man has been judged to perish in the lake of fire yet, for that time of flesh man's Judgment is after Christ's future "thousand years" reign of Rev.20. That means this "false prophet" and "beast" have to be ROLES, or characters in a stage play, that Satan himself will play. This is why, if you'll notice, this "dragon" (Satan) is NOT destroyed at that time in that "lake of fire" of Rev.19:20.

Can that "beast" ROLE be applied to both the beast king and the beast kingdom concept? Yes. Both of those concepts will be destroyed in the lake of fire on the day of Christ's 2nd coming per Rev.19:20. Per the end of Rev.20 when Satan is loosed one final time to go deceive the nations, there is nothing said about another beast kingdom being setup over the nations in that time. He will simply gather his followers who still reject Lord Jesus, and go up against the "camp of the saints" on earth to destroy. That is when God's fire will be like a wall of protection around the beloved city, and destroy those enemies of Christ, including Satan. Then the Great White Throne Judgment will happen, and we will see who else will go into that "lake of fire".

There is a pop belief going around in certain seminaries, which I won't name which ones, that are wrongly teaching that the 1st beast that comes up out of the 'sea' of Revelation 13:1, is about the Antichrist as a concept, pretty much leaving it open to just any interpretation one desires about "antichrist", except the only true interpretation that the Scriptures point to.......

I just wish people would use this format for posting:

1. Article summary.
2. Key findings.
3. Full explanation.

I agree with @TribulationSigns "Good observation" statement.

However:

The beast rising from the earth "exercising all the authority of the first beast before him" speaks of the seven-headed beast giving this authority to the beast that rises from the earth (in the way Joseph exercised all the authority of Pharaoh before him), so this tells us that the false prophet has higher status in the kingdom of the beast than anyone else except the beast, and this false prophet causes all who dwell on the earth to erect an image to the seven-headed beast and to worship it.

This is unlike the ten kings who (we are told in Revelation 17) hand over all their own power and authority to the beast that ascends out of the abyss, who (we are told in Revelation 17) is the "8th" king or kingdom.

Revelation 17 tells us that there will be a total of seven kings/kingdoms, the 6th one of which existed when John received the Revelation. The 7th kingdom is the kingdom of the 10 kings. They hand their own power and authority over to the beast ascended out of the abyss, who is also the 8th king.

Revelation 13 says of the seven-headed beast that rises from the sea:

"And a mouth speaking great things was given to it, and blasphemies. And authority was given to it to continue forty-two months.
And it opened its mouth in blasphemy toward God, to blaspheme His name and His tabernacle, and those dwelling in Heaven.
And it was given to it to war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given to it over every tribe and tongue and nation."

The ten kings are the ones existing on the 7th head of this beast, and they hand over all their own power and authority to the beast that ascends out of the abyss, who is the 8th king/kingdom - but is one of the first seven, because one of those heads had received a deadly wound to its head when it was wounded by the sword, and yet it "lived" again.

So if these ten kings are the 7th king/kingdom of the beast and therefore are "body-members" of the seven-headed beast that rose from the sea, then who are these 10 kings handing all their power and authority over to?

If we consider that the beast from the earth will exercise all the power and authority of the seven-headed beast before him, then surely it must be him to whom the ten kings are handing their power and authority over to?

It seems to me that the 7th head/kingdom is a united kingdom (not the U.K!) with 10 regions, each with its own ruler/king, and that these ten kings are of one mind, and they hand over all their power and authority the the beast ascending out of the earth who has two horns like a lamb, yet speaks like a dragon. He does their bidding - and he is also the 8th king, and therefore the beast ascended out of the abyss (because Revelation 17 says that the 8th king is the beast ascended out of the abyss).

So the dragon gives the 7th head of the 7th-headed beast with its 10 kings its seat, its power and great authority, and these 10 kings in turn hand over all their authority and power to the false prophet.

Sounds like the false prophet = the antichrist, because he is the 8th king and the beast ascended out of the abyss and goes to perdition.

My thoughts are the first beast of Revelation 13 is the "one world political system" which then receives the deadly wound. The second beast of the chapter is Satan, who heals the deadly wound and becomes a hero to the world. Soon, everyone believes upon him (their forehead) or go to work for him (their right hand). Oh, happy world!

Again, the beast, as God defined it, is a figure or animal or carnal action, as opposed to a man who is supposed to act with reason rather than natural instincts. The first beast is a "figure" of the carnal Kingdom of Darkness, as it gets its power, seat (throne), signifying rule or reign, and authority (signified by its heads throughout time), from Satan (the Dragon).

Revelation 13:2
  • "And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority."
When one of his heads was wounded, that is symbolism to show his authority in time had been cut or limited by Christ.

Therefore, the second beast is the false Prophet or false Christ (a body of false prophets and christs) who rises up when the wound of the head is healed, so this beast will take all the power of the first beast (the Kingdom of Satan that ruled before), through the Dragon. It takes up where national Israel left off, as also the fallen Old Testament Congregation. We know that Christ destroyed Satan who held us in bondage, but the false prophets teach that which brings us into the bondage of Satan again. They say (spiritually speaking) that we should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. ..that we should again become in spiritual bondage to it (mark of the beast), a slave to the Dragon.

The 6th head represents Satan's kingdom with its head wounded at the Cross. It was when Christ has handed Satan a defeat. The head represents authority. Therefore, Christ has removed Satan's authority at the Cross. The Old Testament congregation of Israel as a temple (which the temple of Christ's body represented!) fell when Christ died on the Cross. And at the time time, Christ has acast Satan out of the kingdom, restrain or bound him so that in three days, Christ came and rebuilt the temple which have fallen. This new temple is the New Testament Congregation, the Church! For she has been a physical representation of God's Kingdom with Christians as His witnesses. This is how Christ has built his Kingdom with Elect and professed Christians coming in for the past 2,000 years. This is why Satan's kingdom, being the 6th, "is not" or had no power to deceive the nations like he did before the Cross. He was bound by Christ for "thousand years" which spiritually represented the whole Church age. Now, after Christ has finished sealed (secured) all of His Elect (Revelation 14:1-4). Satan's seventh kingdom arose. IN other words, his head has been healed. How? Christ has loosed Satan out of the bottomless pit and his power to deceive has been restored! Selah! This is when Christ will use Satan as a tool of judgment upon his unfaithful New Testament Congregation prior to Second Coming. This is when you will see more and more false prophets and Christs in the church is because they received power form the beast so that the beast works through them. Where? CHURCH! Please understand this... the ten horns signify Satan's "POWER" over men to rule for the fullness of this short season near the time of the end of the world. This is how Satan is "revealed" to us through the false prophets and Christs in the church with lying signs and wonders. The fullness and rule of this period is also spoken of in Scirpture as "one hour." Thus these 10 horns rule (as kings) with the beast kingdom for one hour. IN other words, The false prophets and christs are doing the will of the beast and they knew it not! They thought they are serving Christ with their doctrines but are not. God is using them to deceive unfaithful people within the church as a judgment. As it is written:

2Th 2:7-12
(7) For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
(8) And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
(9) Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
(10) And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
(11) And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
(12) That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

God is saying that the false prophets and christs (body of second beast/False Prophet) will be used by God to deceive many people that they will believe their lies.

Revelation 17:12
  • "And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast."
This also shows clearly that the first beast (with these 10 horns) spans the completeness (7) of time, and near the end of this time (the 1 hour of God's judgment) when the church becomes spiritually Babylon, these 10 kings will reign with him for this short period (little season) after Satan is loosed from the bottomless pit. The wound that was healed was the power of Satan to deceive the nations, which was before taken away (when Satan was bound) by Christ. At this time when Satan is loosed (the wound healed), he again goes out to gather together and deceive the nations to bring them up against the camp of the saints.

Revelation 13:3
(3) And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.

Christ, of course, wounded Satan by the cross, and also looses or heals that wound, AFTER ALL spiritual Israel are sealed or secured in the redemptive blood of Christ, so that He might bring judgment upon the unsaved and unfaithful (spiritual harlot) church who have NOT sealed by Christ.

Rev 9:1-6
(1) And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.
(2) And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.
(3) And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.
(4) And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.
(5) And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man.
(6) And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.

What "in those days?" The days when the beast came out of bottomless pit with its wounded head healed. His deceving power was restored. But he only can deceive those who have not sealed by Christ. This is the job of the 7th and 8th king. The 8th king is Satan himself which revealed within the unfaithful church, the 7th king, where ten horns (false prophets and christ) gave their rule and power to Him.

Rev 17:16-18
(16) And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the harlot, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.
(17) For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.
(18) And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.

What kingdom was it that was given to the beast by false prophets and Christs (10 horns). Of course, this is the seventh kingdom, the church, where they did not receive a kingdom as yet (because faithful Elects were the ones running it as long the day of salvation was going on). Then when Satan was loosened, he gave them power to false prophets and christs, so they can overcome the Elect and become rulers of the seventh kingdom. In exchange, through their false doctrines (lying signs and wonders) they have agreed to give their kingdom to Satan! Therefore, Satan is the 8th king and is of the seven because this is WHERE Satan is revealed through them. God has agreed and allowed "HIS" kingdom, the church, to be given to the beast for the purpose of judgment. This is the judgment of the great city, the unfaithful harlot who is supposed to serve Christ. That is why you are seeing more and more church fell into apostasy today.

Sorry, the "beast" has NOTHING to do with the political system or world empire. It is a spiritual kingdom.

How can the second beast be Satan when the dragon is Satan? The second beast is the false prophet (please see post #4 in this thread), which is differentiated from the dragon and the first beast (Rev 16:13).

I agree. The first beast receives its seat, power and authority from the dragon. The second beast speaks like a dragon, and appears to be either a Christian, or claims to be Christ because it has two horns like a lamb.

Personally, I stick with the Old Testament symbols:

1. Beast = a political authority and its king/s, very often an empire.
2. Horns = kings or rulers.

I believe the Revelation is talking about two political entities here. And it would be perhaps something to bear in mind that there is only one kingdom ever to have received a mortal wound to its head and then rose again, and in the same way that the scriptures say:

"For the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin; and within sixty-five years Ephraim shall be broken so that it shall not be a people.
And the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliah's son. If you will not believe, surely you shall not be established." (Isaiah 7:8-9),

so Jerusalem is the head of a kingdom which received a mortal wound to its head when it was wounded by the sword, and yet it rose again.

Yes, you have spoken to me on these lines before. I partly agree with the things you say, but I also partly disagree. I do not believe that "beasts" refer to spiritual powers, but to literal political powers in the world, even though these have spiritual powers behind them.

The dragon is not the same as the beast. The language tells us that the beast receives its seat, its power and great autthroity from the dragon.

The Bible is always consistent with its own symbolism and in Daniel 7 we are told what "beasts" symbolize. It's not what you believe they symbolize.

I'm not unhappy with you because you and I don't agree on that, so I hope you're not unhappy with me.

The final Gentile Global Government, (as God has told us, Dan. 2) consists of a Political, Economic and Religious aspect.

1. Political - We are told that the Political aspect comes from the `sea of humanity,` (`the wicked are like the troubled sea.` Isa. 57: 20) The beastly kingdom (rule of the Gentiles) is headed up by a leader. That is the one who seems to be killed and stages a false resurrection.

2. Economic & Religious. We see that the second beastly person holds these two offices. Emerging from the `earth` reveals that the philosophy is based on the earthly, sensual & demonic, (James 3: 15)

I would define some of these symbols as follows:

  • The ‘Beast’ rising from the sea of nations is the aggregation of world power into empires – the end result of secular human government, independent of, and antagonistic to God.
  • The ‘2nd Beast’ rising from the earth, is religious power arising from human wisdom, and serving the secular power (1st beast) by deceiving people into worshiping it.
  • The ‘10 Horns’ are the geo-political regions that make up the last beast empire. Their number is a re-appearance of Daniel’s 10 horns which originally emerged during the breakup of Rome. Therefore, they refer to Europe and the Islamic domains.
  • The 'image of the beast.' The final beast will be an empire, but it will also be personified in the form of a man. (2 Thess. 2:4) Other scriptures call him 'Antichrist.' Revelation calls him the 'Image of the Beast.'

Hi CG,

I think we are nearly thinking the same.

One difference - The Roman Empire has been judged and will rise no more. It will be the Assyrian the leader of the Islamic Empire that deceives the rest of the Federations of the world.

Also you have missed out the Economic aspect of the false prophet. He is a prophet to the world using the leverage of the religion of Climate Change & save the earth, to connect people all over the world into a world currency by the IMF, (International Monetary Fund.)
