Imagine this: there is an unprivileged white student who lives in a trailer park. Despite his lower socio-economic status, he does well in school and scores high on the SAT/ACT.

Meanwhile there is a a privileged black student whose parents are millionaires. Despite having access to all sorts of resources, he does okay in school and scores not as high on the SAT/ACT as the white trailer park student.

Both of these students apply to the same university. The less qualified, privileged black gets accepted, but the more qualified, unprivileged white gets rejected.

That's how affirmative action works in the United States. It purports to exist to even the playing field and help disadvantaged people of color, but in reality it discriminates against white people, including genuinely disadvantaged white people. It's very unfair. And people say "white privilege" exists.

Here is another example. In the NFL 70% of the athletes are black. No one is saying we should have more diversity in the NFL and implement quotas for more white, Hispanic, and Asian players. Meanwhile 75% of all NFL coaches are white, and people are saying that is a major problem that needs to be fixed by creating incentives for teams to hire less qualified coaches of color. You can read about it here: NFL owners table proposal incentivizing hires of minority coaches, GMs (usatoday.com)

So let me get this straight... White privilege purports to exists in the US. Yet everyone thinks it's okay when 70% of NFL players are black, but having 75% of all NFL coaches being white is somehow a problem that needs to be corrected. Are you kidding me?

Both examples I listed sound like black privilege.

I voted Yes. Being white, i know theres a good chance if i get pulled over that the cop will be strictly business and not give me a tough time. I received a better education where i grew up then minorities did who live in Hartford which is only 10 to 15 minutes from where i live. Better education means more job opportunities

The judicial system is biased. Despite the fact that the black population is i think less then a quarter of Americas total population, there are far more blacks in prison then there are whites

If im driving through the city its possible that i might see 8 or 9 people who are hispanic or black before i see a white person. They live in a far more dangerous environment then i do

Racism and oppression do most certainly exist in America

The privileged Black student is more likely to have been admitted because his parents made a big donation, or he had a coach help him apply to the school or any number of other advantages that he had because of his parent's money.

Yes, it is a problem. Coaches get paid a lot more, have a longer career and don't seriously jeopardize their health on a weekly if not daily basis. Coaches are a much more desirable position then being a football player. And notice the article you posted said nothing of "less qualified". That was your own gloss on it. But your whole argument relies on taking edge cases and then trying to imply they are the norm.

Boy, that's a lot of judicial bias! So judges across the board just jug theBlack folks and turn the whites loose, that it? Maybe it's just judges who are racist. Wonder why?

Prison population
Black males = 34%
White males = 29%

US population
Black population 13.4%
White population 61%

I cant tell you why the judges are racist. I do know its a broken world with broken people. And we are redeemed only through Christ

Why is their environment more dangerous? Poverty. When there is less job opportunities people are more willing to go to desperate measures such as stealing and dealing drugs to make money

What causes the gunfire in the cities? Once again we live in a broken world with broken people. There is alot more negative influences in the cities and even the music glorifies violence, drug usage, adultery, anger, hatred, victim mentality, etc

Its a broken world not just for the poor but also for the middle class and upper class. Ive met some great loving people with money that care about the poor and homeless. I would never stereotype them all but alot of people with money simply dont understand what the poor and oppressed go through. They dont see it because they are unfamiliar with the environment. And often their wealth and greed blinds them

That isn’t affirmative action. Privilege tipped the scales in his favor. The OP said his acceptance was based on color and that isn’t true.

Blacks seem to have an edge when it comes to college admittance, and in some situations, hiring.

However, whites seem to have an advantage when dealing with police, and when dealing with people who call the police, and in other hiring situations.

Individual cases of black people doing well and white people doing poorly do not invalidate the institutional concept of white privilege. White privilege refers to the idea that being white affords you a general advantage in society. If you liken it to a dice roll, it's like saying that if you're white, you need to roll a 1, 2, 3, or 4 to win, but if you're black, you have to roll a 1 or a 2. You can still win if you're black and lose if you're white, but if you're white, your chances of winning are significantly higher.

A lot of that is failure by design in cities that are overwhelmingly run by Democrats.

White kids from disadvantaged backgrounds with high SAT scores don’t get rejected at universities.

And college is one of the few areas in life where affirmative action exists.

White privilege refers to those areas where when other things are more equal, skin color gives one an advantage.

If white privilege doesn’t exist, why do whites dominate disproportionately in positions of power? Why is the Senate so white? Why are CEO’s so white?

Not such in my experience. I've been picked up by cops enough when younger. I've had white friends beaten senseless by cops. But they had it coming. I learned soon enough to behave myself regarding cops. Don't be troublesome and your chances of staying healthy are pretty good. Can't speak for others regarding their experiences, but I haven't seen any overt white privilege. I did experience sexist discrimination once because although I was much more qualified for a job, a woman was hired simply to fill a quota. The guy who interviewed me was angry and said his hands were tied and very much regretted not being able to get me. He told me he had to go through the charade but the decision was made before I came along.

People are not equal and never will be equal, this side of eternity.

That said, of course there is racism in American society. But it's absurd to characterize a country that voted for a black man twice for President as essentially "racist".

Not essentially, but there is always a strong smell of "We've done enough. They should be grateful" that rises off of discussions like this.

Look up the Department of Justice (DOJ) annual victimization studies reports. The DOJ has thousands of people called and asks them questions: Were you the victim of a crime? What kind of crime was it? What race was the perpetrator? What was the age of the perpetrator? Etc. These studies have consistently shown that police are arresting blacks in proportion to the amount of crime they commit. Numbers don't lie. So it's not that our judicial system is biased; it's that black people are more prone to committing crime.

I agree with this too. Also, its democrats that want to make abortion more easy for women. And it has a very negative impact on the black population. They make up 13.4% of the population, meanwhile i think its 40% of all aborted babies are black. As far as i saw CNN ignored this. I really cant stand Fox news or CNN. What they really care about is ratings
