GROTTAFERRATA, Italy (Reuters) - In an ancient monastery behind huge medieval battlements in a hilltop town just south of Rome, 10 monks are striving to keep alive a 1,600-year-old spiritual tradition against increasing odds. Aged between 23 and 89, they are among Italy’s last remaining Byzantine-rite Basilian monks - adherents of an order founded by St. Basil in 356 in present-day Turkey who still follow his ascetic regimen of prayer and work.

I'm fairly certain there is chant out there from the monks at Grottaferrata on Spotify as well. Byzantium in Rome I think it is?

I'll have to look once I'm in a place with a better internet connection.

Edit : It is "Byzantium in Rome", but it's not the monks chanting. It's Cappella Romana chanting manuscripts that came from the Abbey at Grottaferrata.
