Today is the first Sunday of Advent. To follow the news, some may not have known that. To our society, this is Thanksgiving weekend, and much seems to be, as usual focused on materialism.
We do stop and give Thanks for what we have. It has been a challenging year. 2020 has been described as everything from a "dumpster fire" to the year "that tried to kill us "
Our society has allowed itself to be divided politically, socially, and face an unseen enemy when we need to unite as brothers and sisters more than ever. Together, with Grace and Faith, we can do this. But we will have to put aside our fears and insecurities to do it. We should be Thankful of the opportunities that 2020 has given us to fix problems in our world which are long overdue.

But Advent is here, the season of hope, the season of promise, of anticipation of the Great Gift from God. Advent is the time we prepare for Christmas spiritually.
We here have already done the material aspects, the gifts, the shopping. Most of the decorations, including most of the trees are up, most of the lights are up. But all the energy, the focus, the wonder and beauty of the season cane now be fully enjoyed, realized, and awaits us at this most beautiful time of year.

The times have also brought out how ones are ready with love and creativity.

Yes, we can do this, now, but every day is time to celebrate Christ being born and living and sharing with us. But it is good to be reminded, yes
