"The land is full of bloody crimes". Innocents being executed isn't even a blip on the radar.

You might feel otherwise if you were the one being falsely convicted.

We romanticize things in America. But crime isn't complicated.

You must possess a desire to exploit something or someone. Or you can't be a criminal.
Your desire to obtain the object of interest must be greater than your fear of consequences.

Consequence is the tipping point. There's a lot of things we'd do if we wouldn't pay the price. We count the cost and take a different course. You don't have to moralize it or mention God. Self-preservation is usually the reason.

I have no desire to spend my days behind bars with Big Bertha. That dispels any crazy idea that crosses my mind. I don't want to end up in her clutches. It's that simple.

Yours in His Service,

~bella

ah yes, that's the christian way of course. collateral cost...

The Christian way is to obey the law and not be involved in the mess in the first place. My comments come from one that has "come out of her" and are launched from the cheap seats far from center field.

Of course, but in this forum you can speak freely (hmm), and you stated that it's ok that some innocent people die.

False convictions are but a tiny drop in the lake of insanity that we live in.

So if some innocent people are wrongly put to death, too bad, so sad? That's your attitude on this?

What about in cases of false convictions?

Flawed humans will make mistakes. But that must not stop us
from following God’s plain commands!

A swift death penalty was intended by our Creator to deter or
restrain additional people from committing the sin of murder.

To stop or delay the death penalty because the courts are afraid
of making a mistake is direct disobedience to God and His laws!
-

The book of Proverbs states, “When the scorner is punished,
the simple is made wise,” and “Smite a scorner, and the simple
will beware” (Proverbs 21:11; 19:25).

People can learn vicariously from the experiences of others!

The deterrent effect of the death penalty is muted because of current
practices. But even basic understanding of human nature tells us that,
if administered properly, the death penalty would have a significant
deterrent effect!

Evil would be doing nothing and letting murders go free to kill again.

Nobody is suggesting doing nothing or letting murderers roam free.

However, killing people is not something that can be undone. Inevitably wrongful convictions happen and innocent people are put to death. *That* is evil.

As the late FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover once stated about our modern
permissive society, we have “substituted INDULGENCE for discipline.”

The result is that our prisons are full to overflowing and our
societyis inundated in violent crime.

Correction is the God-given means to prevent crime and other
problems. Using strong correction FORCES CHANGE in criminals
convicted of lesser offenses and eliminates entirely the threat of
those convicted of violent crimes such as murder.

In God’s eyes, repeated reprieves and appeals—
and now, insistence upon DNA testing to verify guilt
—should not be necessary for death-row inmates.

Two or more witnesses should be enough.

Why should he fear to kill again ? Even though he
probably murdered unmercifully, the “merciful”
liberals will see to it that HIS life is spared so that
the taxpayers can support him for the next 20, 40
or 60 years in a prison environment.

Flawed humans are going to make mistakes but it's wrong to install safeguards against them...

How does this square with the death penalty becoming more rarely used in the US while our murder rate has been on the decline in that same period?

Ok, you're not killing enough prisoners. Maybe lower the bar for capital punishment, maybe down to shoplifting?

If by inundated you mean at 1950s levels or below, sure.
