Psalms 2 - Kiss the Son

'Why do the nation's conspire and the people's plot in vain?' (Psalms 2:1). Now there"s a good question to begin a Psalm! A Psalm for the Coronation of a King of Israel. A Messianic Psalm for the Coronation of King Jesus and His future Reign in Glory! This verse is referred to in (The Acts of the Apostles 4:23-25) 'On their release' (from the Priests and Elders) Peter and John went back to their own people and reported all that the Chief Priests had said to them. When they heard this,they raised their voices together in prayer to God. 'Sovereign LORD',they asked,'You made the heavens and the earth and the sea and everything in them. You spoke by the Holy Spirit,through the breath of Your Servant,our Father David. 'Why do the nation's rage and the people's plot in vain?' .......There are 'rages'and 'plots' all around us. David and the Israelites had those wicked nation's 'raging and plotting' in vain. It is what ungodly people do!

'The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the Anointed One' (Psalms 2:2) As this Psalm is a Messianic Psalm prophesying of the Lord Jesus Christ,His life,death,rising again and future Reign. David the Shepherd,soldier,King and prophet wrote this Psalm telling of the rebellion of the nations and the triumphant future reign of the Messiah.

(Psalms 2:2) is referred to in Acts of the Apostles 4:26) What an impact followed as the brethren prayed. 'The place where they were praying was shaken and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the Word boldly' (Acts of the Apostles 4:31)

'Let us break their chains',they say,'and throw off their fetters'.(Psalms 2:3) People think they can escape God and throw off the constraints of the righteous,but they are deceived.

'The One enthroned in heaven laughs,the LORD scoffs at them' (Psalms 2:4)

'Then He rebukes them in His anger and terrifies them in His wrath,saying' (Psalms 2:5)

'I have installed my King on Zion my holy hill: (Psalms 2:6) No matter how much the ungodly rebel and rage and plot against the righteous,God has installed His King Jesus on His holy hill.

'I will proclaim the decree of the LORD. He said to me,'You are my Son,today,I have become your Father' (Psalms 2:7)

'Ask of Me and I will make the nations your inheritance,the ends of the earth your possessions' (Psalms 2:8)

'You will rule them with an iron scepte. You will dash them to pieces like pottery' (Psalms 2:9) None of these wicked ones is a match for Almighty God. They will all fall and come to nothing!

Therefore,you Kings be wise,be warned you rulers of the earth' (Psalms 2:10)

'Serve the LORD with fear and rejoice with trembling' (Psalms 2:11)

'Kiss the Son,lest He be angry and you be destroyed in your way' (Psalms 2:12)

'For His wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in Him' (Psalms 2:12)

God is the Maker and LORD of heaven and earth. His purposes will prevail although plotters and wicked would seek to thwart His plans. He will triumph over evil. He is the One to be worship,loved and adored for evemore!
