I think all of the apostles made mistakes as sinners and when interpreting the unseen things of God.

Peter was a serial denier who blasphemed the Son of man Jesus the chief apostle. Jesus who was sent to do the will of the father . peter was forgiven each time because it was against the temporal flesh of Jesus which Jesus declared it profits for nothing, zero .Its the unseen Holy Spirit of the Father that does profit .To blaspheme him is not forgivable.

When the Son of man Jesus left, that window of opportunity to be forgiven ended.

Matthew 12:31-32 [Full Chapter]Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

God is not a man . God is Spirit .

Its the inerrant word of God that works in the apostles or any Christian .The apostles are not inerrant .They are sent with that authority . God does the work to empower us to believe of form Christ in us.

In that way the apostles "sent ones" they are considered nothing. God is not served by human hands .He must increase as we decrease.

1 Corinthians 3:6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

Yet that contradicts what God Says.
He did not leave His Word, Scripture, up to the thoughts or abilities of man, nor of any man.
He Says He Breathed His Word, He Inspired His Word, so the men God Chose Himself Wrote (Scripture) what God Breathed Through them by God's Doing, not subject to the errors any man might make on their own doing.

So what is a preacher ?

Like the apostles and evangelists - messengers, sent by God. NOT middlemen.
NOT between God and man,
but telling God's Message, The Gospel, as Written and as Sent by God, as Directed by God.

First, not everything the apostles said became scripture, so there is certainly room in they saying we don't have for them to have made mistakes.

Second, your description of "inspiration" reduces the apostles to being occult mediums. Scripture actually says, "The spirits of prophets are subject to the control of prophets." 1 Corinthians 14:32

The Holy Spirit did not take possession of the lips and hands of the apostles the way an evil spirit takes possession of an occult medium.

Likewise, apostle Paul have told us :
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, -2 Timothy 3:16

Hi I would offer.

Its not the preacher that we hear but the understanding of the faith of Christ, that works in us and others. The preachers that plant and water are considered nothing. Its the Holy Spirit that can form Christ in us the increase if any.. .

The words of the preacher (the law of God) are found in the book of the law the Bible .(sola scriptura) Men perish without it others are judged by it .

Without it no man could come as the father draws them by a work of his faith or labor of his love that does work in those given ears to hear his understanding.

Its how beautiful are the feet of those shod with the gospel .

If Christ through the water of his word (the gospel) does not wash then mankind has no part with God not seen .

John 13:8 Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me

In that way we wash each others feet with the gospel, the water of the word or doctrines of God that fall like rain .

God's good news to His new creation the church, the chaste virgin bride of Christ.

There is still time to preach it in a hope God will perform it in those who hear and believe Him not seen . He sends them out two by two with all things written in the law and the prophets. The one witness of God's written law. .

Yet many have turned away from the Gospel of the Kingdom, no doubt teaching out of tradition, of a church that blindsided Jesus and the Kingdom, to rejoin the world of man and work in parallel with the enemy to build worldly institutions and kingdoms of their own.

The new Jerusalem is not the temporal made up of the corrupted rudiments of this fallen creation but the eternal city not seen (Zion) prepared for his chaste virgin bride. Paul who is used to represent the mother of all pursued Timothy with the gospel seed in pains of labor till Christ was formed in him .He then espoused Timothy as the chaste virgin bride , the church .

2 Corinthians 11:2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.

To OP: Paul is an easy target if a person who hates Christianity but doesn’t want to go directly after Jesus.

Every group that wants to use Jesus’ name (but dislike following Him) will attack Paul to justify their novel teachings, they need a point in time where Christianity has been “corrupted,” or lost, and now only their new false religion (which they insist is the old true religion) can save the day.

Muslims do this consistently, trying to undermine the Christian faith is like a job for some people.

As sons of God we are not what we will be which is neither male nor female, Jew nor gentile .

The five, representing redemption is the chaste virgin bride, guests as new creatures become the one bride.

Timothy is used as a example.
