It has nothing to do with any judgment of mine.
God's Word says these things, whether a blanket statement or not, I don't know.
Like as in the day's of Noah, so it is again, or becoming like that ... as written... is this a blanket statement ?

You wrote, "most people willfully ignore it , dismiss it, and oppose it" That is a blanket statement criticizing "most people". You also wrote "like in the day's of Noah, so it is again, or becoming like that ... as written", another blanket statement with no evidence except your negative opinion of humanity.

It is 100% your judgement; own up to it.

FYI:
This is the Spirit-Filled/Charismatic forum.

From the Statement of Purpose for this forum ...

WHO WE ARE
Spirit-Filled, Pentecostal and/or Charismatic believers can be from ANY Christian Denomination. They are those who believe that all the various spiritual gifts (or charisms) listed in the New Testament (including but not limited to the manifestations gifts found in I Corinthians 12:8-10) are active in the Church today and desirable in the life of the individual believer, for the edification of the Body of Christ. It is not a requirement that the individual exercises/exhibits any specific spiritual gift(s).

Definition of Charismatic in THIS forum:
The Divine Trinity is the only source from Whom messages are given. The Gifts of the Holy Spirit emanate from the Divine Trinity through the Holy Spirit. Departed Christians, Angels, or any other being are not involved in this work of God. We believe that the Holy Spirit, One of the Persons of Trinity, speaks forth the words and messages from either the Father or the Son.

The Holy Spirit speaks what He hears from them, and it may be through various ways such as:

  • tongues and interpretation
  • a prophetic word
  • or a word of knowledge
House Rules:
All posts within this faith community must adhere to the site wide rules found here (Terms of Service and Christian Forum Rules). In addition, if you are not a member of this faith group, you may not debate issues or teach against its theology. You may post in fellowship. Active promotion of views contrary to the established teachings of this group will be considered off topic.

Also on the opening post topic, i have asked God lots of questions regarding the bible and doctrine, he didn't answer... why i don't know, i say that doesn't happen today? i don't know,
what he did talk was a lot about my relationship with him, and about solutions or insight, counseling etc on spiritual problems.

... good thing he's not insane right?

Thats the implication of this.

The Holy spirit can talk, even if i would be insane.
That how i could describe he talking, as a witness like dave says he has, but pointing out something.

Look... somebody already posted the forum rules in an effort to stave off the belittling from those who don't believe in hearing Gods voice.
Thanks for this clarification (if it is right).
I thought that when they posted the forum rules, they were wanting anyone who disagrees with the particular group whose section we are in
not to post the different ideas. (even if believing in hearing God) .
i.e. ideas that are different doctrinally, or different from the group's teachings or dogmas ....

lol...you could be right too, after all I am new here. Oh well, I just hope this thread can continue without people trying to derail it. Challenging almost every other post in this thread smacked of spiritual pride, when a single gentle illuminary post would have nudged any erring interpretation and blessed everybody else.

I didn't know a subject or topic in this thread was cessationist.
Best answer I can think of is like this : I am neither for not against cessationist - I am relying on our Heavenly Father, in union daily/ continually/ with Jesus, as He directs our steps/plans/ words/ so graciously.

Cessationists think today there is no prophecy no baptism of the Holy spirit, no gifts, no tongues, God doesn't talk etc. Why God would stop doing this things i don't know.

To keep this thread alive i'll contribute what little i have.

One time i was sure it was God was when i lost my job for over a year. I was doing 3 odd jobs just to pay the bills and twice hit the curb from lack of sleep. Finally told God I surrender everything to him, that as much as i loved my family He love them more so it is up to him to provide for them. Then i felt peace. I quit 2 of the odd jobs, told my family we will sell everything if after a month i don't get a job then prayed and waited in faith. About 3 days after while standing prayerfully looking out our washroom window (my prayer room lol) i distinctively heard God say in my thoughts "What about that project in that department ...?". My eyes widened and i thought back "what about it?". Quickly God brought to mind a one line wise crack from an office mate where he mentioned he saw a floor plan with my name on a desk in a Gov office i never stepped in 3 years before, followed by a download of how my old company won contracts using our names and qualifications without our knowledge. And an assurance that if i send an application i will get a job there because that was how much they were in need of my skills. Long story short i wrote a single job application end of Feb/March and got the job April 5. No tests interviews or anything.

When i heard His voice:
1. It sounded a bit like my older brother and my Dad. But with more authority and assurance.
2. I wasn't even looking for a job anymore. I was just resting peacefully gathering my strength until the end of the month so i can start selling the house.
3. I was in faith, fully resting in Him and trusting he will provide for my family. My mind was clear, i had no fear. Just letting the days take their course.
4. The idea presented was clearly not my own. The explanation download was something i had no idea.
5. The assurance was so strong i didn't apply for any other jobs than that. I just waited until i got it.
6. All this conversation happened in my mind. No verbal exchange came out.

Thanks for letting me share. I hope this keeps the ball rolling.

Hi DirectionSeeker,

It seems evident in scripture that God does speak to his children today through that small and still voice.

Yes, God does.

For those that have this privilege ...

Sometimes we can think that there are only 'chosen' or 'special' persons who hear God. And that belief can be a hindrance to our hearing. But every Christian is privileged to hear the Lord speak to him or her personally. "God is no respecter of persons" (Acts 10:34). God loves everyone the same. He doesn't have an 'elite' group of 'favorite' people that He talks to.

In the Bible, Jesus taught about our privilege of hearing Him speak to us:

(Jesus referring to Himself as the Shepherd ...)
"... and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice."
~ John 10:3-4

(Speaking of the Holy Spirit ... )
"However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you."
~ John 16:13-15

God has promised that He will speak to us. To hear God, we start by believing His promise. If we don't believe that He will speak to us, our doubt will hinder us from hearing Him.

"But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him."
~ Hebrews 11:6

God loves faith and will always reward it!
