Hey,

It seems evident in scripture that God does speak to his children today through that small and still voice. It also seems like (based on various testimonies) that this isn't a privilege that you get overnight but rather over time. Also yes I'm aware that we should test all spirits so they don't contradict scripture!

For those that have this privilege please tell us how long it took before you could head God on a regular basis, what you did in order to hear God and how your technique looks like.

Some other questions:
1. Does fasting help with hearing God's voice?
2. Could you ask God anything and expect an answer? For example, could you ask Him questions like: Is the apocrypha actually inspired by you or not? Should I continue with this project?

Thanks!

Most spirits do contradict Scripture, so testing them won't change if they contradict Scripture or not, it will only hopefully reveal that they are not of God, or if they are of God (the ones who obey Him, and do not contradict anything of His Word or Plan) .
Fasting might of might not help. God sees the heart.
If God wants someone to hear His voice (in SPirit), then it will be. If not, then it won't be.
Those 'questions like' might not get any answer at all. Those things that are opposed to HIm and to Scripture , He might not say anything about any such inquiry - it is and was and is clearly revealed in Scripture as God Permits..

Be always alert, aware, that the enemy of Christ will also say things, demons will answer as if they are an answer to what you ask (and even if you don't ask a question, they will talk to you) ,
so don't just accept an answer because it 'feels' good, or because it comes right after asking....

lol

I always think Charlton Heston. :)

But seriousely, I was genuinely interested.

What the voice may sound like may vary from person to person. With me it hasn't really been a "voice" rather a sudden flash of insight, that is very different than my normal way of thought. If that makes sense...

It does. I have heard directly speak to me on two separate occasions. Most recently, it was "love your neighbor", spoken to me as clearly as if God was right next to me.

I wish there was a homogeneous opinion among christians in every area

I wonder what the most common opinion among christians is. Do most believe that God still speaks today?
Most common is unScriptural.
Most people do not turn to God, nor repent of their serving demons. So it wouldn't matter if they thought God still speaks.

That makes sense, and that is the key, how to know it isn't in our head.

Could be as simple as, if we didnt get what God was telling us, then he didn't tell us anything

When you write that most people do not turn to God, nor repent of their serving demons, where/how did you form this opinion? Did you do a scientific survey? Where are the data? Otherwise, it's just your private, judgmental opinion.

God still speaks -- to everyone!

No opinion involved.
All the information in the world verifies God's Word is True, even though most people willfully ignore it , dismiss it, and oppose it.

Again when you write your judgement that "most people willfully ignore it , dismiss it, and oppose it", where are your data? Just making a blanket statement condemning most of humanity a) won't convince anyone and b) is contrary to the love God has for His people.

It has nothing to do with any judgment of mine.
God's Word says these things, whether a blanket statement or not, I don't know.
Like as in the day's of Noah, so it is again, or becoming like that ... as written... is this a blanket statement ?

God directed his people always, we need his direction assurance, wisdom, and help like the people in the bible, i would say a christian should expect interactions with God, if not there is something wrong, the bible is not God himself. Also there is lots of topics it doesn't talk about, specially about your life and things that can happen to you, or if talks, maybe people interpret some scripture 100 different ways, you sometimes need God to intervene and tell you how it is something.
