Why does Matthew 22:30 cause me SO MUCH PAIN?

Proverbs 18:22
and Matthew 22:30.
Marriage is a good thing, and God withholds marriage in eternity.
I wouldn't say Jeremiah is my role model, i think you brought him up first, but it is a good case potentially to look at, where God withheld marriage from Jeremiah, and it seems to not really even touch on whether or not Jeremiah wanted to have his own family or not. If God forbid it on this earth, and Jeremiah wanted a wife and children, all we know in how God "makes good" on that commitment to be a "eunuch for the kingdom of heaven" is Isaiah 56:3-6

Sure, in eternity you won't need children to carry on your family name, so the promise of a name that will never die can be better in that sense that you don't have to look to children to continue your name and inheritance.
But as far as for having children just to love them and raise them and teach them and see them grow into godly people, and see them have their own children? A name is no replacement for that.
I don't know if Jeremiah had those desires or not, maybe the Lord simply never gave him those desires to begin with.
But for me, I do have them, and frankly, recommitting my life to Jesus made me more aware of them, not less.
In my late teens and early 20's when i backslid. I didn't think about marriage, and I thought I didn't want children, too much of a hindrance on lifestyle, and marriage? Nah just a desire for sex. Going back to Jesus.. changed a desire for just physical lust and sex, into a desire for love and intimacy with just one woman, because that is what the Lord designed, and it seemed way more beautiful of a concept than I had seen it as before, and made me desire children, even though I know genetically that'd be a very bad idea for me to have.
But this one verse.. shatters everything. Any negative feelings I have towards the Lord, come from this one verse (well and it's parallel in Luke)
You need to get your thinking straight. When God replaces or supersedes something, the new is always vastly superior to the old. The obvious example is the covenant of Law, which is an old covenant. The Law saved no one ever. The New Covenant is infinitely superior. The old covenant had one objective and that was to lead us to Christ. Once we have come to Christ, we are saved. We are no longer subject to the Law, which we could not keep anyway. It is no different in heaven. Marriage is superseded by a relationship vastly superior. it is spiritual, not natural, perfect, not hindered by the human frailties that make even the best marriage inferior to heaven. You need to come to the cross and surrender this aspect of your desires. Every Christian who goes on to maturity faces a great conflict between self will and God's will. Sometimes it comes early in the Christian's experience, sometimes later. Always there is more than one challenge. Lord Jesus faced the same choice - self will and self preservation, or God's will and the cross.

If you will ask God for grace to accept His will, you will have a breakthrough that will transform your Christian life. The cross seems painful and great loss. Remember that after death comes new life. Lord Jesus rose again from the dead. That's what is in store for you.

The relationship with a man (even a God man) being the only intimate relationship I will have and never with a woman as God designed, is a massive hurdle.
to remove that desire because it cannot be fulfilled, is like a spiritual lobotomy.

What is your priority? The Kingdom of God or your own needs? You put the Kingdom of God first and your needs will be either changed or met. "Rather, as it is written: No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no heart has imagined, what God has prepared for those who love Him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9

Paul goes on to say that God has revealed these things by His Spirit. If we have an open heart to receive the truth, God will reveal these things to us. Don't be like Esau who traded his birthright for a bowl of soup. Eternity is a long, long time. This lifetime is a blink of an eye in comparison.

Kingdom of God, but it's not a singular desire. I don't see things as a scale of "better" or "worse" when they're apples and oranges. Maybe other people do, and they just see one desire supersedes all others but that doesn't work for me. Wanting Christ as a God, Father, and King doesn't erase a desire for a spouse because they are not comparable things. One is an apple the other is an orange.
CS Lewis tried to describe it with the chocolate vs sex analogy with the little boy, and I think it's stupid because nobody has sex then immediately never wants to eat chocolate again. It's a false equivalence. In fact skipping the sex I think it'd be quite possible to be in the presence of Jesus and still feel like eating chocolate, and find both things enjoyable. Probably even more enjoyable if eating chocolate was something you could do in fellowship with Jesus, and since Jesus didn't say you'd never have chocolate again after the resurrection, I don't see why that wouldn't be possible, God did afterall create the cacao tree.
On the other hand, marriage and all things connected to marriage, such as intimacy, sex, children, that Jesus did say won't be there. Unless Jesus was simply meaning levirite marriage and a relationship similar to marriage that has the intimacy, and ability to have children would still exist, but that was not clarified so you can't really base a doctrine off of it.
Choosing Jesus over that, does not mean the desire for that just poofs into non existence, it does not mean I'm not sad that I'll never have those things. It just leaves an unfulfilled desire. I wouldn't choose marriage over Jesus, because a marriage without Jesus would be empty, unfulfilling, and probably end in divorce anyway. It's again, creating a false equivalence, and also claiming mutual exclusivity, when no such mutual exclusivity exists. Jesus never said if you choose me you can't ever get married in fact according to 1 Timothy 4, to make that claim is a doctrine of devils.
So don't try to make that claim that if you want to be married and you're sad about the fact that you'll never be married, that you don't want Jesus as your Lord.

The other point of view is spiritual lobotomy.
Sure, when you get a lobotomy to "cure" a person's violent tendencies they're no longer violent
but you've also stripped away their personality, their dreams, and even their desire to live.

I guess you missed the bit that says there is no male and female in heaven. Agape is boring? That's God's kind of love. I've never found God to be boring. If you want the best in this life and the next, my advice is to quit obsessing about your needs and focus on God's will (Matthew 6:33)
Aww... why not?
But eros is still pleasurable. Agape is just boring in comparison. Agape isn't pleasurable, it's just... how could I say it? Good? More comforting than pleasurable.
Where does the Bible say there's no male and female in heaven? Wasn't Jesus still male in the resurrection? What about Elijah in heaven?
The Bible never says angels are genderless.
Also, gender is an important part of our identity.

In Luke 20:35-36, "sons of God" doesn't mean that they are all male. I know we use "son" to refer to a male offspring. However, "sons of God" may be better translated "children of god." I don't know what the Greek word is.
It says we will be "like" the angels. Not that we will be angels.
Are you referring to Galatians 3:28? That refers to something that's true in this world already. It means there's no discrimination between male and female or Jew and gentile.

I honestly can't see men and women remaining anatomically male and female bodies, with memories of their past lives, and yet, somehow, not having any desire to even try having sex with each other if they truly love each other at a "higher" degree than on earth.
and if God still deems sex outside of marriage to be sin, and marriage does not exist, that's a disaster waiting to happen, another fall of man.
Only ways I see it are
Physical bodies like barbie and ken dolls, sex is physically impossible
Spiritual lobotomy so your mind is just incapable of remembering or thinking about such things
A relationship that is like marriage but not marriage that allows for men and women to be one flesh still somehow
Or God just ... allowing sex between anyone who wants to have it seeing it as no worse than a hug, and expression of affection and love.

I guess I see those possibilities as most likely to least likely to happen, but the first two, being the most likely, are also the most dreadful to think about. God giving you an "incomplete" body compared to what you're used to just to keep you from having sex, or God lobotomizing you for the same purpose.

God is always He. Angels are always male - in spite of the heretical images of female winged beings you see everywhere. Eve was taken out of Adam. If you want to know the "female" (in reality a meaningless term) of heaven, it's the Bride of Christ - Christians. As only what was of Adam became Eve, so only what comes out of Christ (the true Church) is His Bride.

"Agape" boring? You have to be kidding. No one would be saved if God did not love us unconditionally. I would not call the life that Lord Jesus lived on earth boring, yet He never married. Heaven is a spiritual realm. Believers get a spiritual body with entirely new functionality. There is no marriage in heaven. God's purpose for creating Adam and Eve will be fulfilled. There will be a new heavens and a new earth. It will transcend any experience that we could have here on earth.

If it's a physical body on a physical new earth, and the people love each other, would they not hug each other? kiss each other? sex is another step on that showing affection to each other.
So again
barbie and ken doll anatomy
a lobotomized brain that can't remember what sex was and won't think to even try fitting 2 body parts together
a relationship analogous to marriage where such an activity is blessed
or the activity is always blessed

Otherwise, 2nd fall of man just waiting to happen.

Physical body? No. It is certainly visible and concrete, but it is not physical.
1 Corinthians 15
42So will it be with the resurrection of the dead: What is sown is perishable; it is raised imperishable. 43It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power. 44It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. 45So it is written: “The first man Adam became a living being;” the last Adam a life-giving spirit.

The purpose of sex was to enable humanity to reproduce and fill the earth - Genesis 1:28. That's about the only purpose of God that man has fulfilled. New body, new heavens, new earth - a whole new lifestyle. I don't know exactly what it will be like, but the male/female distinction will be no more. It will be vastly different and vastly superior.

Being a man, or a woman, is central to who we are as people. To make us gender neutral is not giving "us" eternal life but giving a drone with our likeness eternal life.
The Galatians verse you're thinking of is not meaning that there's no diversity among us or differences between the sexes, but rather a egalitarian statement of equality in God's eyes.
Sex is not just for procreation, it's also for bonding and to express love. Otherwise after child bearing years, a married couple would not be able to enjoy sex.
and while it may be spiritual in that it is glorified and holy, the resurrection body is a physical body that eats food, and can be touched. Jesus' resurrection body is our example.
Jesus was also, resurrected still as a man.
Not some androgynous drone.

What is the Greek word for "natural body"? What is the Greek word for "spiritual body"? I think the correct translations are "corruptible" and "incorruptible." It's a "glorified" body.
Why isn't there gender and romance and sex in heaven just for the purpose of pleasure? Just for the purpose of our enjoyment? Guys and girls appreciate each other for being opposite.
Kissing the same sex is just bland and boring. Especially between two men. Opposite gender kissing is most exciting and pleasurable.
If there is no male and female in heaven, will there be more variation than just two genders? Like polygender instead of bi-gender. Nope, that's not quite it. But continuously variable? Nope, that's not quite it either. Let's see... more variable than just two genders, like nonbinary? Nonbinary doesn't explain it quite. But instead of binary, polynary. Fully variable? Decimal instead of binary? Nope, decimal doesn't explain it. Do you know what I'm trying to explain?
There is no neuter in Hebrew. That's why angels are never described as neuter in the old testament.
There are only two named angels, they are both male, but that's just two.

I've always thought that illustration of his was very poorly thought out.
People don't just never want to eat chocolate again once they had sex. Nobody just goes right to the most pleasurable thing and does only that exclusively except junkies, which for them, getting their addiction fix is all they care about. But everyone else... they vary up doing things they enjoy in life, because doing the exact same thing over and over gets pretty boring pretty quickly.
Even the junkie stops actually enjoying doing the thing they're addicted to, at that point they keep doing it just to satiate the addiction.
It's a disingenuous claim by Lewis, and frankly, some people end up enjoying chocolate more than sex after awhile, and continue to enjoy chocolate long after sex loses its thrill.
I have no doubt that people will want to do more than just fall on their face singing at the throne of God in eternity. Even if that brings them extreme pleasure just from looking at Jesus, after awhile they're still going to want to do other things, Jesus Himself is going to want us to do other things, we weren't created to just sing around the throne, He's got angels for that already. Jesus created us to do work, the original plan has always been for us to be His stewards, having dominion on the Earth. We'll still enjoy other things because their ultimate source, is God. Every good thing that comes to us is designed to make us appreciate and love and worship Jesus more. When a parent buys a child a gift, it's not like the father expects the children to not enjoy the gift and only enjoy the father, the father enjoys seeing his children enjoy the gift, as long as the children remember who gave it to them and are thankful to him for it. On that thought, I have no doubt that despite seeing the face of Jesus as it truly is, we'll still enjoy chocolate and still have desires to have chocolate from time to time, and, in the right context, of understanding that we have chocolate because God created the cacao tree and wanted us to have it, designed it to taste amazing, loaded it in heart neutral fats and antioxidant flavinoids to make it actually good for us (not overeating of course), just for us to enjoy as a good thing, and we thank Him for it. It's perfectly spiritual despite being a physical thing.
Just because we'll be in the presence of God doesn't mean we won't want other types of pleasurable things, and just because we have a relationship with God doesn't mean we won't want other meaningful relationships. Otherwise once people got saved they wouldn't want a spouse or children or friends or pets... but that's not the way we were designed. Every proper relationship just makes all the rest of the relationships more meaningful. Each mutual friend you have makes your friendships more meaningful, and as far as I can tell, children and even pets make marriages more meaningful, and marriage makes the relationship with God more meaningful (and simultaneously, the relationship with God makes a marriage meaningful)

Will there be such a thing as gender in Heaven? | GotQuestions.org

Also see C.S. Lewis "Miracles" and what it says about the possibility of sex in heaven, and about a boy and choolate.
Whatever. Believe what you like.

I will never marry in this life, circumstances put me in a position where it hasn't happened and likely would never happen. I have genetic based illnesses that I don't want to pass down so children would be a bad idea even if I want them too. For a long time I deluded myself thinking, well, maybe not this life, but in eternity I can make up for it.
But a nagging feeling kept hitting me, like something I'd been forgetting since it'd been a long time since I'd read the bible, and in my immaturity I always assumed what many people assume about heaven; you get everything you want, no desire of your heart unmet. But the nagging feeling was that not only was that not going to happen, but God never meant it to happen for me, He ALWAYS wanted me to be alone, and He made sure that I would fail every relationship I entered to keep it that way. I couldn't even fornicate, so yes, still a virgin at an embarrassing age to be one by the world's standards. I got in situations where I might have, but something would happen to stop it every time. Just seemingly random events that would break it up. I thought it was bad luck then, now I see it as the Lord telling me no, not even if I wanted to He was going to stop me.
Anyway, there was that dread, that the Lord MEANT for me to be alone, forever. Then I read the scripture that sealed the deal on that fear, and made it reality. Matthew 22:30.
That it wasn't just this life, it was NEVER.
To be told you will NEVER have something you want, but other people find a lot of joy in hurts worse than any physical pain (and I experience quite a bit of that). In fact it hurts so much that all it does is make you want it even more and feel like you're missing out on something awesome forever. It makes you think about what it is you're missing out on, to have a partnership exclusive between you and someone else that is special and nobody else has it with that person, as (relatively speaking anyway) equal partners. You love them more than anything but God, they love you more than anything but God. A person you can keep no secrets from, a person you share everything with, make decisions together with, start a family with, and those children that you love so much that you would die for them, that's something incredible, the only other thing people might be willing to die for is God right? A person you are united in 1 flesh with.

I share these fears and depression with people and they say "oh don't worry it'll be better and more intimate." Which.. to me doesn't make sense, the marriage relationship has you physically naked with each other even bodies inside each other.. and you're going to be more intimate than that at handshake distance as just "brothers and sisters" in Christ? They try to say you aren't missing out on anything, but their actions belie their words, like I said, they'd die for their families, and the only other thing they'd die for is Jesus Christ, and in some cases, they'd die for their family, but NOT Jesus Christ! How am I supposed to feel like I'm NOT missing out on something when it seems to give them that much joy? Why did God single me out to be single? Why is it one of the ONLY revelations I've had from God Himself have to be this one that causes me so much pain? When I ask for revelation in other areas of life.. I get nothing. This one area I got revelation but it's like asking God something in prayer and His answer is not silence, but a definitive, resounding "No."
Why does this verse cause me so much pain every time I think about it? A simple answer from Jesus and it feels like tearing off a scab off a wound that just won't heal.

Genesis 2:18
Why is it good for me to be alone specifically? Why would God create me to desire something that he wanted me to never have? Some people choose to be single and are happy with that, it doesn't hurt them to tell them they'll never be married because they never wanted any part in it in the first place. Why couldn't He create me like that if that's what He wanted for me? At least then it wouldn't hurt.

This single verse, this single thing, is the cornerstone that makes me think I won't even be happy in eternity, and my only way to manage with it is to devalue myself and think my happiness is inconsequential that God is not a genie in the bottle and that if I'm unhappy I just have to accept it and be content. Forever.
It has almost created 2 hells as the potential afterlives. Just 1 Hell where everyone is suffering eternally and 1 where I'm singled out in exclusion but everyone around me is happy.
Where do you find your happiness? Have you ever been in love or had a relationship? There are plenty of people who are single and happy. You need to pursue your passions and find someone who shares them with you. You have to find your natural happiness so that you aren't trying to impose all that makes you happy into one person. That is a tall order and a lot to put on someone.

I think that we will feel different in heaven. Listen to what this kid says about what it feels like. Skip the intro and start it at about 7 minutes..

No, never a serious relationship, just dates here and there, and that's part of the problem. I don't even know what those kinds of relationships are like, and I feel like I've missed out. Not knowing and a feeling of missing out on something that I see a lot of joy come from in other people, like when you've seen a Christian couple that have been together for 40, 50 years and they still love each other, that is something special and I feel like I will miss out on that forever. I feel like an incomplete half a person as well. Like you know, how Eve was created by taking something out of Adam, making her, and then in the process of marrying them, Adam was made whole again because they become one flesh. I feel missing parts. It also feels like I fail in God's original plan, because that original plan involved marriage, it feels like I'm getting "plan B", a contingency plan, rather than God's best plan for me.

I don't trust "heavenly tourists" outside of those in the bible.
The fact is the bible has never had anyone who went to hell and came back from it in any means. There have been a few prophets and apostles who've seen into heaven, but NOBODY in the bible saw into Hell, in fact, Satan is not even in hell yet, nobody is. The first beings thrown into hell are the beast and the false prophet after the second coming of Christ. Right now what "hell" is is more of a pit, and it used to be before the cross, the righteous dead were on one side and the wicked on the other, with a gap between them, on one side was torture, on the other side comfort. Now as far as we know the saints go to the third heaven, but the wicked still go to that intermediate pit, but not hell yet.
But nobody escapes from that, only Jesus and maybe Lazarus (if it's the same Lazarus) have any testimony on that, but Lazarus was on the comfort side.
So off the bat from the title alone, I'm going to say I don't believe this young man and think he's lying.
Not to mention this guy is talking about doing all this stuff to his son, while he's driving down a highway.
He also comes back from Hell, which is impossible, once you are there there is no way out... and to seal the deal, his description of Heaven, fails the test against scripture. Everyone who has been portrayed as seeing heaven has not said they forgot all their memories, and in Revelation 6:9-11 the martyred saints remember that they'd been murdered, and were aware that God was supposed to pour out His wrath on earth and He hadn't done that yet. I'd call this guy a liar to his face and tell him to repent.
Yeah, not buying it. They're trying to sell a book.

And afterward I will pour out My Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions. Joel 2:28

This is happening now, worldwide, in different languages and cultures. People accompanied by Jesus showing them hell and telling them " you will go back and tell my people this place is real and that people are falling here daily by the thousands. Tell them I died for them so they won't go through this but they MUST REPENT IN LIFE. Once they fall here it is too late. Tell my people there is no more time. They must turn back to me. For every 30 that go to heaven, 30,000 are coming here and they do not have to but they must do their part! If they do not then I died in vain." He tells them to tell everyone what they saw or the people who could have been saved will be their fault and on them. He has been doing this steadily for the last year and the stories are similar. The smells, sounds, properties almost identical. Some are pastors, atheists, children, muslims, ...it has been prophesied so maybe we should take it for what it is worth.

I watch until I see a contradiction with the word of God, after that, I write it off as a lie.
He contradicted scripture which gave it away.
I also don't believe that we will get NEW revelation. I've had a dream myself just a few nights ago that made me think about Joel 2:28. It however did not contradict scripture or come across as new revelation, or even as something that we'd actually literally experience. In the dream I recognized what happened as being symbolic and within the dream I even with my own voice explained to all the people around me what the symbol meant (those who I knew were saved were covered in blood wherever the rain had touched their skin, those people who I knew had rejected the gospel it was only water on their skin, so I said "we're covered by the blood of Christ, but they aren't"). It told me nothing new, that I was saved and my neighbors and friends who I consider family after all these years, who brought me to Christ were saved, but my mother and sister are not and need to be. Things I already knew but God telling me I need to get them on the program already. I've tried with my mom but she just doesn't like anything "religious" I'm not sure about my sister at one point I thought she could be but it's not a subject that has come up with her a lot so I'm not sure. Not sure how to broach the subject.
I distrust any NEW revelation that's not in the book, but if it's something symbolic that agrees with the word of God amen, I'll believe that was God speaking to that person through a dream.
But if it disagrees with the word of God.. that's not a revelation from God.

I do fully understand that what these people are doing is for a good purpose, to get people to repent and get saved, but you don't lie and take the Lord's name in vain in the process, even if the end result is getting people saved.
