You clearly believe that demons can speak into your mind, to counterfeit God's voice!
I think the devil can insinuate
a thought - a lie, usually - into a person's mind, or a sudden impulse or feeling. But I have never indicated that the devil
converses with a person as a disembodied voice in their mind. The Spirit brings to remembrance the truths of God's word, but nowhere in the Bible do we encounter an instance where he has
an internal dialogue with someone, speaking distinctly and directly to that person as we do with each other, nor are we taught in Scripture to expect such a thing.
Can God speak directly to our minds? Of course. Does He? Does Scripture give us good cause to think this is the common means of His communication with us? No.
I think Christians who think they are hearing from God, that the Spirit is speaking in their minds, are far more often than not hearing their own self-talk. Sometimes, though, they are hearing from the devil, who prods and guides their self-talk by subtle intrusions of devilish thoughts and feelings.
Satan speaks, but your god is struck dumb! (Or maybe you've just gagged him)
Hardly. Nice Strawman, though. God speaks clearly and comprehensively to me in His word - as often as I want to open my Bible and read it. He is far from "struck dumb."
Tell us, why would God allow Satan and demons to speak to people, but shun speaking to his own children when they seek him. That would make God an abusive father in the eyes of any child services department!
Yeah, still working from a Strawman version of my views, here. See above. God is not silent. He speaks to us through His word which the Holy Spirit brings to our remembrance. What's abusive about this?
So, despite admitting that demons can speak to God's children, you believe the lie that God just left an instruction book and then refused to say anything more.
Knocking down your own Strawman here...
I do most certainly believe, however, that all we need to know about Christian faith and practice we have revealed to us in God's word. By it, the Christian is "thoroughly furnished unto all good works." God has given us His wisdom, spiritual principles, moral commands and truth by which to navigate life in a way that honors Him. What need I, then, of His voice in my head that can be confused with self-talk and that can be easily manipulated by the devil? None at all.
Imagine treating your wife like that. You marry her, then on the wedding day, you hand her an instruction book and never speak to her again.
God is not my spouse. He is not human, either, readily accessible to my physical senses as my wife is. Your analogy, then, doesn't work. You're making a glaring category error.
As part of the Bride of Christ, your vision of Christ your husband is appallingly shallow.
I think what you mean is because I don't agree with you, your opinion of me is that "my vision of Christ is appallingly shallow." But, we all have opinions. Why should I care about yours? Especially when they are just ad hominem attacks in place of a solid, biblical argument?
If you are truly sensitive to God's spirit at work within you, then you are obviously part way there, and learning to hear the words of his voice is just a matter of sharpening your spiritual discernment!
Nope. This is nowhere taught in Scripture.
But in order to do that, you need to repent of the doctrine of demons that teaches you God never speaks. And yes, it is certainly a doctrine of demons that silences God's voice today.
And...more Strawman arguing. Not going to engage with this logically specious, rhetorical stuff.
That shows exactly how that doctrine of demons controls your thinking. Other people on this thread have shown from scripture how the Holy Spirit speaks words to our spirit, yet you are blind and deaf to them.
No, what I've pointed out to them, and which they have not yet been able to show is in error, is that in every case there is no description of God or the Holy Spirit speaking privately within someone's head. Not one. In every instance this sort of communication is ASSUMED, not stated. Who's the one who is blind and deaf, then? Not me. I'm simply pointing out what is and isn't in the verses and in the larger context of all of Scripture.
The claim that you need the bible to hear God's voice, has to be one of the most illogical claims in theology.
And yet
another Strawman. I'm beginning to see how you've become so confused about Scripture.
I first started hearing God speak to me in my head, back in the early 1960s, and he hasn't stopped speaking since.
Uh huh. I don't pattern my faith and practice on your personal experience but on God's word. Your experience will never trump what God's says.
When it first happened, I knew nothing of the gospel, and didn't even become a Christian till another 10 years passed.
This doesn't help your case any...
God has spoken to me thousands of times in the last 50 odd years, so don't be so foolish to insist that it doesn't happen.
I can insist what I like - especially when I can properly ground my thinking in God's word - unlike you.
The reason you are deaf to God's voice, is because you believe a lie, a doctrine of demons.
Uh huh. Ad hominem does not an argument make.
