Please help me... My bad thoughts are consuming me. They're awful, and not just blasphemous. They're down right disgusting. I feel like I'm being crushed, like it's so bad I don't even want to say them. I feel like how could God even want to hear from me. I doubt my salvation because these thoughts are so bad. And they won't go away. It's like a horrible record on repeat.

Here's my approach to walking in the Spirit.

“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;” (2 Corinthians 10:5) (KJV 1900)

We censor every impure thought or imagination. And change the channel in our thinking on any thought that does not conform to obedience to Christ.

And we replace it with:

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” (Philippians 4:8)

Knowing Jesus is God and God is love. So Jesus is lord of our lives when love rules our thoughts and actions.

Just simply stop it. It's been my experience that it's easier to say "can't "but in reality we need to admit to ourselves it's "won't".

Change whatever it is that's causing you to lose faith. Easier said than done but it can be done. Be strong.

Guessing by your name you are for sure saved , you probably have dubts about your salvation because of some sin you try to get rid of but can't in your life and every time you do it you have dubts afterwards.

If you worry about it then its just confirmation for you that you care about it and you are getting convinced of Holy Spirit that you just commited sin. Not saved person wouldn't even recognise it , wouldn't be bothered by it.

These two verses have been most helpful to me.I will be praying for you and welcome here.

Hey Saved. Intrusive thoughts is a thing that I've seen talked about as a mental health topic. I encourage you to look it up in the internet. I've done some self taught CBT for my own anxious thinking.
Then do a study or two on (or just read in) Psalms. I just finished "Book 2" (most Bibles denote these subsections of Psalms) and I've been extremely strengthened by how relatable the Psalmists (primarily David of course) are. What you're going through is nothing new to God. The trick is to submit and let Him do His work in you. Letting go of self is hard, we all struggle with that--no matter what external front we put out there for others to see. Prayers bro.

Hi, welcome to the forum.

I think bad thoughts are a product of the TV you watch, what you read, what you listen to, people you associate with and the sinful life you enjoy. People enjoy sin because all they see is the pleasure it brings at a moment in time not it's affects in the long term, to those around them and society as a whole. As a real Christian you need to come to an understanding of the damage sin produces in your life and the life of others. Many Christians do not understand how damaging sin is to all of us, it causes so much heartache, pain and suffering in all walks of life.

Over a period of time learn to recognise the sins in your life with the guidance GOD provides, learn what triggers you to sin and slowly remove them and change. Do not get involved with things that cause you to sin, it could be politics as at the moment it's causing many Christians to sin against GOD and cause harm to fellow Christians. Remove youself, out of the darkness that surrounds this world. This world will pull you in with all your desires, lusts and wants. This is why I am always telling others, the closer you get to the world the further you're away from GOD. I learned this quite some time ago.

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him

We no longer look to be served. We look to serve and give our lives for others. No longer fight for privilege, influence and status. We esteem others better than ourselves and put their interests above our own.

Peace be with all those in the body of Christ

Time to replace those negative thoughts with helpful ones. Here is one of my favourites:-

"No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 8:37-39 NRSV)

God bless you.

This is what works - When that first thought comes across, immediately switch to God's Word such as:

-"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." I John 1:9
-"As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us." Psa 103:12
-"Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works." Tit 2:14

Advice based on "Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;" II Cor 10:5

This works Stay with it. God gives the perfect solution.
