Have you ever wondered how often our words are not our own?

He said this plainly. But Peter took hold of Jesus and, scolding him, began to correct him. 33 Jesus turned and looked at his disciples, then sternly corrected Peter: “Get behind me, Satan. You are not thinking God’s thoughts but human thoughts.” Mark 8-32, 33

The chief priests and the legal experts were looking for a way to kill Jesus, because they were afraid of the people. 3 Then Satan entered Judas, called Iscariot, who was one of the Twelve. 4 He went out and discussed with the chief priests and the officers of the temple guard how he could hand Jesus over to them. Luke 22:2-4

If Satan can enter us and speak through us so easily, how often are our actions and thoughts not our own?

no Satan did not enter Peter , Jesus called Peter Satan because he said stupid thing contrary to what people been waiting for for nearly 4000 years untill then. All prophecy and all feasts were pointing towards this time that Messiah would die for sins.

And he spake that saying openly. And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him.

Imagine rebuking God thinking you have better idea of how things should be done.
But this was Peter and thats wha he did , he didn't want to openly admit before people anything which could cause trouble , we see similar reaction later when Peter is rebuked for basically same thing by Paul . Peter would act like Christian with Christians but to not cause troubles when Jews were visiting he would act like Jew and suddenly for the time of visit lean towards Jewish laws and traditions ect.

And ye Satan entered Judas that is correct
it was still Judas decision tho .

Hello @Jaxxi, if we are truly "possessed" by the devil and our words are truly not our own, then we cannot be held accountable for them by God, can we? (this would include both Peter and Judas if this was actually true of either of them)

There is a great book, a Christian classic, actually, by C. S. Lewis called, The Screwtape Letters. It's a collection of short stories that Lewis first read on the radio back in the 1940's if memory serves. It's fiction, but oddly, it will help you understand how they operate in our lives such that you will be able to recognize their attacks for what they are far more quickly.

If you decide that you'd like to read it, I recommend the 50th Anniversary Annotated edition, because of all the extra information it contains from and about Lewis. Or you can read it for free online here: The Screwtape Letters

Also, be sure to read the prefaces because of the odd POV this book takes, that of the demons. For instance, whenever you see the word "Enemy" in this particular book, you'll know that it is referring to God.

Finally, a true Christian is someone who is permanently indwelt by the Holy Spirit (which has been true since the Holy Spirit was given to us following the Lord's Ascension). While demonic oppression is still possible for believers, I do not believe that demonic possession is (because of the HS's indwelling of believers).

God bless you!

p.s. - wouldn't it have been better to place this thread on one of our Christian boards? Also, here's a somewhat more positive look at the same topic :)

1 Corinthians 2
12 We have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God,
13 which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words.
(see too Romans 8:26)

People get influenced all the time by bad spirits, they don't need to be possesed or have entered them or something,

'Yes, in the past your lives were full of those sins. You lived the way the world lives, following the ruler of the evil powers that are above the earth. That same spirit is now working in those who refuse to obey God.'

And christians can get influenced too, and you aren't a 'Judas' for being influenced by them, sometimes they just exploit some weakness in you, saying something you don't want in a moment of anger maybe or something, or a bad thought about someone or God, this happens all the time.

Whether we’re speaking the truth or hurling insults; our disclosure is a choice.

The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. —Luke 6:45

It is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth; this defiles a person. —Matthew 15:11
