My family usually gets together for Thanksgiving--about 25 Aunts, Uncles, cousins, boyfriends and girlfriends--but not this year. We will each be staying home with just immediate family, all because of COVID.

Will others here be downsizing as well?

But for the fact that I suspect I have Chinese Coronavirus, we would be having family over. Odds are either I or my oldest son passed it on to the rest of us, we'll still be in the potentially infectious range on Thanksgiving or close enough that we won't take the risk. Otherwise, we would have had a total of 12 for dinner.

This year we're staying home. It will just be three people here for Thanksgiving but we'll still have a yummy dinner with all the trimmings. Hopefully next year will be back to normal.

We are having it smaller on one side because one family did not want to come so it will just be my grandparents, my mother my sister and me. On my dad's side I am pretty sure it has been decided for the virus along with another reason that we will not have it.

People should consider downsizing the turkey to fit household inhabitants only. Otherwise next year there may not be those aunts and uncles there to celebrate. I currently have an aunt who in spite of precautions has just contracted the virus and may not see Thanksgiving, let alone Christmas or anything else. Some however might prefer a chance to reduce that Christmas card list.
The other way families could choose to look at that though is we never know when will be our last holiday ( co-vid or not) so we want to create those memories. I by the way judge neither side.

And perhaps speed them along. Where are these family connections the rest of the year? Why rely on one 'holiday'?

Absolutely not! Do the research. The MSM is not using percentages to sell the Democrats Fear Mongering because the percentage of the Dead From Covid is less that one percent and rounds off to Zero Percent of the nation and is less than one percent of the infected. I am 75 and that with my Auto-Immune Disease, that puts me in the Most Affected Death Rate but I survived the three week ordeal. This is a Political Disease.

If Joe Biden wins the Presidency, the virus will dramatically drop off the radar. Numbers of cases and deaths will plummet. Biden will take credit for whatever small bits of action he's involved in, and be hailed as the savior who "ended the pandemic".

If Trump wins the Presidency, the virus will be "worse than ever" and the numbers will explode, and the vaccine may even be "revealed" to be far less effective than previously thought.

People are dying of the disease but the overwhelming majority of them, 99.7% will not. Most of those under 60 are like me and my family. Our symptoms are so mild that but for all the media hype we wouldn't realize we're sick.

The people who are dying are nearly all over 70 with multiple preexisting conditions. Those people are adults too, they can make their own decisions about what risks they're willing to take. If they want to go to Thanksgiving dinner, that's their business. They can make that choice for themselves, their not children or incompetents. But for my family knowing we have it, my folks and my brother and his family would be coming to dinner. All of them knew the risks when they agreed to come. It turns out we have it so we're not going to intentionally put people in harms way but otherwise I refuse to assume that others are ill and I refuse to treat my parents like they're idiots who can't look out for themselves.

I see that you persist in your belief that gatherings of people can only affect those people who attend and feel no responsibility for the others who may get sick as a result.

Actually he is but a page boy. Salvation will come but by way of the WEF, our overlords and saviour. It is to their advantage people keep ignoring common sense be it Thanksgiving or any other time, and spread the disease to keep up the hype. Come the next pandemic that people like Bill Gates laughs about when he speaks of it because he already knows the outcome, people will willingly give up freedoms for a chance to live. It is obvious from the hype that flattening the curve is proving useless through any means except their vaccination plan. The poor health systems are useless if you believe the promotion. And you can bet these folks with a plan will be celebrating Thanksgiving at how fortunate they are that this time their program is working.

As God would say, 'It's not about you'. :)
That's presumptuous. Where is this found?

The Bible speaks of "quarantining" the sick. But I'm unaware of doing it with the healthy.

Enjoy God, enjoy family, enjoy life.

But among the “healthy” are those who may have COVID but are not showing any symptoms. Hence downsizing for Thanksgiving.
