It has been long lied to people the day of Jesus birth is not december but March somehwere around 23,24, or 25. It would correct if politically United States of America changed it from december added another holiday and changed it to march. Slowly and steady change the day people have been fooled and put christmas and insted of presents people will pray and sing at that day.

It should be correct our lord was not made for selling on his birth but for truth. how would it affect culture and what will you think ;D.

Let me say it again then with another twist...

What if people backed off their soapboxes and didn't regard certain days for worship but chose to worship Jesus Christ and what He's done for us every day of the year?

Or you could do like many people in my Church do in America: have 'western Christmas' with your non-Orthodox friends, and the Holy Nativity ('Eastern Christmas') at church, since they're different days (December 25th vs. January 7th; unless you're Armenian, then it's January 6th -- unless you're Armenian and in Jerusalem, then you can get as many as three Christmases, because Jerusalem is like the polar meridian of Christianity).

In other words, it doesn't really matter. The point is in what you're celebrating much more so than when.

I dont take part in any celebration of Christmas whatsoever.

The whole rigmarole of it has little to do with anything I see in the Bible. The Apostles and early church did not celebrate it, so I am more than happy not to.

Yes years ago I celebrated it as much, if not more than many people.
Digging deep into the Bible I came to the conclusion that the birth (as a human) of Jesus is really to be a constant wonder everyday not just at Christmas.
That's me, we must all do what we are convicted of. I am not saying that I know better than anyone else but this is something I personally feel strongly about.

The 25th of March is already kept as the feast of the Annunciation. I guess we could just propel that whole cycle of the liturgical calendar forward three months... but then you'd have a clash between the Advent/Christmas/Epiphany cycle and the Lent/Easter/Pentecost cycle. How would we go celebrating Christmas and Easter at the same time...?

The point isn't about the date of Jesus' birth as a historical fact. The point is about providing a liturgical experience which nurtures the faith of the Church today. As long as you do that, the rest is not so important.

Actually, our Lord was all about giving, and in order to give, we have to buy, and in order to buy, someone has to sell.

And that's the truth. :)

It was likely actually September, but I like Christmas where it is, otherwise the winter would just be one huge bucket of suck. At least the holidays provide some cheer.

Plus, you'd have to change most of the song lyrics... huge hassle.

They don't know when Jesus was born. I have also heard September given as the possible date and those are months apart.

Changing the date won't change how people celebrate. Those who go to church will continue to go to church, those who pray will continue to pray and those who only party will continue to only party.

I believe the date of His birth is still open for debate, how did you come up with the dates you posted.

Christmass would probably still be there people believe more in Santaclaus than Christ anyways.
