When the Israelites first complained against Moses because of the bitter waters at Marah
in Exodus 15, the Lord did not react in anger, but responded with sweetness to give instruction.
Who would receive that instruction?
“Those who diligently heed the voice of the Lord”.
The waters were healed/made sweet, and the Lord made a covenant promise to them.
“I will put none of the diseases of Egypt upon you.
Then He calls Himself “The Lord Who heals you”.
Proverbs 16:21. The wise in heart will be called prudent,
And the sweetness of the lips increases learning.
How does one teach doctrine with “sweetness on the lips”?
Only by the wisdom of heart, such as was received by Solomon.
This is His theme in Proverbs, the Wisdom from Above, and the Tree of Life.
Proverbs 3:18. Wisdom is a tree of life to those who take hold of her,
and happy are all who retain her.
Proverbs 16:10. An oracle is on the lips of the king;
His mouth must not transgress in judgment.
James 3:17. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle,
willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.
