I agree with what Visionary has proposed

In the Bible the Genesis days are "evening and morning" -- each day begins in the evening.

Indeed "evening and morning" was the first day.

Gen 1:8 "And there was evening and there was morning, a second day".
Gen 1:13 "And there was evening and there was morning, a third day".
Gen 1:19 "And there was evening and there was morning, a fourth day".

And Lev 23 says "from evening to evening shall you celebrate your Sabbaths".

Visionary's proposed idea would be a great place to study this subject.

I was only talking about minor tweaks, nothing major as I like most of it. For example, I would leave out the section in red and just keep the section in green below.

Non-negotiable points:
  • No replacement theology. No posts teaching or debating that the Church/Christians have authority
God bless

I assumed that in this context "replacement theology" means replacing the 7th day with the first day of the week.

The Sabbath is the 7th Day of the week, from sundown 6th Day, to Sunset 7th Day.
Brothers and sisters, I propose the following change: The Sabbath is the Eden 7th day of the week, from sundown 6th Day, to sunset 7th Day in Israel. I agree with that statement.

And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day. (Genesis 1:3-5 NIV)

In the fine tuning of the proposed forum, we need to be united on the basics. While there maybe details that will need to be worked out, those can be in the forum itself.
Sister, than count me out of this proposal! I don't want my posts removed. I already went through that on the messianic forum, a waste of resources!

Needs to be deleted. Replacement theology means different things to different people

Are you implying the Sabbath in Israel should be kept in the USA? That we should adjust to their time table from their timezone?

Brother, happy Sabbath! Thank you for your interest in the word of God. I am saying that set is the Sabbath of Eden in that time zone and is kept at that time throughout the world. If you are calling Israel when you hear it begin for them, it also begins for you regardless of where you are in the world. That is the message that harmonizes the word of God that reveals the rise of the first Sabbath in creation week from morning to morning and the remembered Sabbath in Israel from evening to evening. I have a thread on the subject if you have any more questions titled "When do the biblical days begin?"

The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law. (Deuteronomy 29:29 NIV)

I think the subject definition of the thread should be limited to normal views of the Sabbath held by all Sabbath keeping groups -- the beliefs they all have in common,

1. A literal 7 day week for creation week.
2. From evening to evening (or in some case 6pm to 6pm)
3. Began at Creation - and so a memorial of creation
4. For all mankind
5. included in the TEN Commandments
6. the 7th day of the week - Friday evening to Saturday evening

====================

It is helpful to define what it is that is "Safe".

That way when someone asks "how do you keep Sabbath" we all know what they are referencing.

Or if they say "I did not use to keep Sabbath but now I do" we know what they mean.

===================

I think that questions (even the hard questions) should be allowed.. including Bible texts to support or illustrate the significance of the question or comment.

What is being eliminated is the constant "circling back" where someone makes a few accusatory, condemning "I challenge you" kind of posts about the Sabbath - and then is answered from the Bible about why those accusations don't hold up to sola-scriptura-testing.... and then that person simply "repeats the accusation" as if the complete response had never been posted.

I would be open to looking at texts that someone thinks are difficult for the Sabbath view - and then the group explaining how that is resolved from the Bible.

So then if someone were to post "Has anyone here looked at Colossians 2:12-18 to see how that fits with the Sabbath topic?" -- or something along those lines. Perfectly fine because it is not an unfriendly accusation or condemnation it is simply bringing up the bible text itself and asking to see how that either does or does not fit in with the Sabbath POV of the thread.

Related topics for the thread
1. what impact would Sabbath keeping have on global warming if all mankind kept the Sabbath?
2. what impact does the Sabbath have on building up the family
3. How can one believe in the Sabbath and also believe that rabbits come from bacteria over long ages of time. Is it even possible?
4. Can a scientist be a Sabbath keeper without denying proven, observable science?

If promotion of legalism is allowed in such a "protected" forum and a counter "protected" forum not allowed to reject legalism is not made I'm against it 100%.
The counter forum is the main Sabbath and the Law forum, where it can be debated and discussed in a non-safehouse area. Since the prevailing theological thought is not 7th Day there is not really a need for a specific protected area that protects Sunday worship.

However, your opinion against it will be noted in discussions with Administration on the matter.

Why would we want to promote "legalism"?

We don't promote legalism when we affirm "Do not take God's name in vain" Ex 20:7 and we should not have to promote legalism for the next commandment either. The thread should be ok without having to promote legalism.

We already have a protected forum for those who are Torah observant. That would be the MJ forum. The proposed forum is a meeting place for all those who observe the 7th day Sabbath. Not all who observe the seventh day are MJs and SDAs. Even if they were; those two groups have to be careful of what they say in each others dedicated forums. Some seventh day obedient have no home at all on CF. We want a place where the seventh day obedient can share with each other, at ease, without being interrupted by those who reject what we hold in common.

Agreed to that.

Also I would note that Paul was Torah observant, he kept Passover etc.. but was never called a legalist in the NT. So also Moses and Elijah stand with Christ before the cross in Matthew 17 and the NT writers do not refer to them as legalists either.

The Bible never says that what makes someone a legalist - is that the person chooses to obey the Word of God.
