I suspect that this will continue unabated until the new president can begin to initiate an effective scientific response to the threat ---- just a year too late.

It won't really be solved until there is an effective vaccine in place but in the meanwhile we must "flatten the curve" so that local medical facilities are not overwhelmed. There are several states that are at that point right now.

For anyone confused as to why Trump gets so much blame for the current state of the pandemic in America, I'm just going to recommend watching the Nov. 2nd episode of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. In just 20 minutes, it lays it all out exactly how the current administration mishandled the outbreak. And I know what you're all thinking. "Ranunculus, I hate John Oliver, I mean I like the show and all but I just wish they'd hired a comedian to present it, the guy is just not funny!" I feel you, but just watch it anyway.

From acting slowly, to cutting programs, to disregarding warnings, to badly coordinating crucial supplies, to ignoring experts, to delegating important functions to inexperienced volunteers, to undermining public messaging, to politicizing wearing a mask...
It's like a perfect storm of incompetence.

I'll just give you a quote from the end of the episode. "...And the thing is, there are so many more terrible moments we haven't even had time to cover, from using this racist term multiple times (kung flu), to never once releasing a comprehensive federal strategy for fighting COVID, to removing a watchdog overseeing two trillion dollars in COVID relief. To saying he asked his people to slow down testing, which his people then tried to pass off as him kidding, to which he responded, "I don't kid". To basically claiming that doctors are inflating coronavirus death counts for money. To suggesting sunlight and ingesting disinfectants could help cure the virus. To repeatedly undermining the nation's top infectious disease expert."

Meanwhile I saw non-ironic tweets chastising Biden because 'he will listen to the experts'. C'mon guys, what are you doing?

In case you haven’t heard a vaccine has been found.

Fact Sheet: Explaining Operation Warp Speed

heh by a company not part of that, and lets see what has trump done to stop the virus.

Denegrated wearing masks, called it a hoax, called people to protest, held rallies where no one wears masks. Refused to even try to get states to lock down and control the virus. Locked down travel to china AFTER it was already in the states and didn't lockdown any other travel. made fun of biden for making any attempts to control virus, complained about mail in ballots that will likely be responsible for thousands of deaths a day coming soon.

So ...MAYBE he helped get a vaccine now, after killing 230k people.

The same thing would happen with any president....they would find reason to blame them no matter what, and they would have a list of reasons much like you have there.

Anyone who doesnt realize that by now, either hasnt been around long enough, or is simply confused.

Yeah, they would, but again you have a president that wasn't just having a hard time controlling the pandemic you have one that was actively working against fixing it. Doing things and saying things that made it worse. Trump has from day one said and done things that made it worse. Heck, his attempt to steal the election made it worse by making sure none of his supporters used mail-in ballots and went to the polls that is likely to make the outbreak even worse.

I stand behind my last post.

Dems cannot be trusted to assess anything our president does. They have proven themselves biased beyond a fault and tend to go way overboard....that is simply a matter of fact.

Nice fallacy there, how about refuting the point instead of making an ad-hoc argument. Or is it that you know trump is to blame and can't refute it.

Let's nt forget the travel bans were announded in advance. We will ban travel in a couple of days means jammed airports and an ideal way to spread the virus for a couple of days.

Trump did a bad job and while Biden might not solve the problem, I doubt he'll personally make things worse like Trump has. Our misfortune is in the pandemic having started under this outgoing administration and not one that would have known what it was doing.

It will get worse this month. Despite the precautions taken at the polls, voting was probably country-wide super-spreader event. We'll see how bad it was in a couple of weeks.

I'd bet that varies a lot from state to state. In Harris County, Texas there was one drop box for over 4,000,000 people. In Los Angeles California ballots came with a list of convient drop boxes. Mine had 6 and I think that is the number on most. The farthest from me of those 6 was about 3 and a half miles. The closest about a quarter mile.

I saw lines on the news in Pennsylvania on election day. I'm on nextdoor online and someone asked where they could vote on election day. They got a reply that there was a voting center at a local JC and that there were no lines. The news on election day showed the voting center at Dodger Stadium where the booths were widely spaced and very short lines were reported. Even though quite a few people went out of their way to vote there.

Expect a surge in red states and states that were highly contested where there were efforts to supress the vote. (Note the classic way of doing that is to create long lines).

Expect states that encouraged early or mail in voting to fare much better.

What I found humorous is that you actually believe that Biden is going to solve this problem and also that Trump did a bad job. I guess you didn’t hear about operation warp speed.

Almost every nation in the world has thrown large amounts of money at universities and private laboratories to develop a virus vaccine. Warp Speed is nothing unique. If the Pfizer vaccine is effective it is in no way due to Trump. It is simply what governments should do to protect their citizens.
