In Hebrews, and as well many other verses of the Old Testament, the Righteous Judgment
of God is described as a "Just Recompense".="the measure you use, it will be measured
back to you."
Many get so caught up in arguing salvation and works that through neglect,
they ignore and fail to receive a "full reward".

2 John 1:8. Look to yourselves, that we do not lose those things we worked for,
but that we may receive a full reward.

Hebrews 2:
2
For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just retribution, [KJV:'a just recompense of reward"]
3 how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be
spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard.

Luke 14:12. Then said he also to him that bade him, When you make a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompence be made thee.

Let the Lord be your recompense!
"I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.” Genesis 15:1.

Hebrews 10:35. Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence
of reward.

Deuteronomy 32:
35 Vengeance is Mine, and recompense; Their foot shall slip in due time; For the day of
their calamity is at hand, And the things to come hasten upon them.
36 For the Lord will judge His people and have compassion on His servants, when He sees that their power is gone, and no one bond or free.
37 He will say: Where are their gods, The rock in which they sought refuge?

Job 15:31. Let not him that is deceived trust in vanity: for vanity shall be his recompense.

Proverbs 12:14. A man will be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth,
And the recompense of a man’s hands will be rendered to him.

Isaiah 35:
3 Strengthen the weak hands, and make firm the feeble knees.
4 Say to those who are fearful-hearted, Be strong, do not fear!
Behold, your God will come with vengeance, the recompense of God;
He will come and save you.
5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.
6 Then the lame shall leap like a deer, and the tongue of the dumb sing.
For waters shall burst forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert.

Isaiah 59:
17 For He put on righteousness as a breastplate, and a helmet of salvation on His head;
He put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloak.
18 According to their deeds, accordingly He will repay, fury to His adversaries,
Recompense to His enemies; The coastlands He will fully repay.
19 So shall they fear The Name of the Lord from the west,
And His glory from the rising of the sun: When the enemy comes in like a flood,
The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.
20 The Redeemer will come to Zion, nd to those who turn from transgression
in Jacob, says the Lord.

!Halleluyah!
Psalm 58:
10 The righteous shall rejoice when he sees the vengeance;
He shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked,
11 So that men will say, Surely there is a reward for the righteous;
Surely He is God who judges in the earth.

After we are saved by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ without the deeds of the Law (Ephesians 2:8-9), Christians have to then enter then next step or phase of the salvation process (i.e. Sanctification).

For...

  1. We are justified by works and not by faith alone (James 2:24).

  2. Faith without works is dead (James 2:17).

  3. A person can deny God by a lack of works (Titus 1:16).

  4. Jesus agreed with the lawyer that to love God, and to love your neighbor is a part of inheriting eternal life (Luke 10:25-28).

  5. Those who have done good, shall come forth unto the resurrection of life; and those who have done evil, shall come forth unto the resurrection of damnation (John 5:29).

  6. We have to continue in His goodness, otherwise we can be cut off [just like the Jews were cut off] (Romans 11:21-22).

  7. Helping the poor, and the unfortunate relates to inheriting the Kingdom (Matthew 25:34-40), and not helping the poor, and the unfortunate relates to going away into everlasting punishment (Matthew 25:41-46).

  8. Whoever does not righteousness or does not love his brother is not of God (1 John 3:10).

  9. Whoever does what Jesus says is likened unto a wise man who built his house upon the rock, and when a storm came, it did not fall, (Matthew 7:24-25), but the person who does not do what Jesus says is likened unto a fool who built his house upon the sand, and when a storm came, great was the fall of that house (Matthew 7:26-27).

  10. Abiding in Jesus will bear much fruit, but if a person does not abide in Jesus [thereby being unfruitful], they are cast out [or cut off] like a branch to be burned in the fire (John 15:5-6).

  11. If the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing (1 Peter 4:18-19).

  12. Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14) (NKJV).

I`ve studied sanctification. Not the man-made type (progressive sanctify etc.), maybe many years ago perhaps, if I ever did it was too long ago to remember now.

All I can tell ya is what the Bible says about it. The only part man plays in sanctification is to believe the truth and to abstain from fornication. Jesus takes care of the rest.

Sanctification is not a works-based program and works do not provide any type of sanctification.

You say we are saved without deeds of the law and then you follow up with a works plan for remaining saved.

1 Corinthians 1:30. But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption— 31 that, as it is written, “He who glories,
let him glory in the Lord.”
As we abide in Him, we take on His nature, and all these things are found in Him, including a more
natural aversion for sin, rather than some battle against temptation to sin.
As we grow, our temptations become much more subtle, as we literally face His temptations, not just
"lust of flesh, lust of the eyes, pride of life;" but real confrontations with Satan that we must face down.
"Resist the devil, an he will flee", but "we must not be ignorant of his devices".

2 Corinthians 7:1 KJB
“Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.”

We are to cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit. Some Eternal Security folk believe that they are cleansed in their spirit by Jesus and yet their body is sinful. They think they are saved by a belief alone in Jesus. But we are to perfect holiness in the fear of God. You cannot perfect holiness if you are already holy. This is clearly dealing with a progressive Sanctification here.

You said:

No. Believers are initially and foundationally saved by God's grace through faith without the deeds of the Law. But after they are saved by God's grace, they must enter the Sanctification Process as a part of God's plan of salvation. Proof? See again my 10 points in Scripture in post #3 that you are ignoring.

“Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.” (James 1:12).

All your works verses are performance issues, even the ones pertaining to holiness. The sanctification is something Gods does. Apart from abstaining fornication and believing the truth man has no part in it. Even the part man plays is just a qualifier, sanctification is a work of God, not man.

I believe you said you never felt lost even at your lowest point in life. Did you not?
Actually, I was just poking at these classifications. They were even written in caps, as if some
formalized system that I am just now learning on this forum. LOL
I will happily step aside and let you continue your discussion with Highlighter.

God ultimately does the good work through the believer (Philippians 2:13, John 15:5), but believers are the one’s who will be held responsible by not abiding in the Lord and the good work He wants to do through us. For the unprofitable servant was cast into outer darkness (Matthew 25:30), and a person can deny God by lack of works (Titus 1:16).

It does not matter. Anyone who thinks they must always sin again as a matter of fact and or they think they can sin and still be saved is not in line with the truth of God’s Word.

Your "can be progressive" is man's doctrine. This is the same argument as works for salvation. Sanctification gives a believer the ability to separate from sins and live a holy life. Holiness is the fruit of righteousness but it does not replace God as the One who sanctifies.

Again, you are asserting something false that I do not believe. I told you before that God ultimatley does the good work within the believer (Philippians 2:13, John 15:5). So we cannot boast in ourselves for any good we do, but we boast in the Lord. But we have free will to choose to cooperate with the Lord and He does not force us to do good. For the Scriptures tell us to...

  1. Continue in the grace of God (Acts of the Apostles 13:43).

  2. Continue in the faith (Acts of the Apostles 14:22) (Colossians 1:23).

  3. Continue in his goodness, otherwise we can be cut off (just like the Jews were cut off) (Romans 11:21-22).

We are told:

“...We are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end.” (Hebrews 3:13-14).

"Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life." (Jude 1:21).

"...be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life." (Revelation 2:10).

Joshua 24:15 says,
“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”

In addition, I told you before that we are initially and foundationally saved by God's grace through faith in Christ. No one is saved by “Works ALONE Salvationism” (which is what Paul argued against). Works are a part of the Sanctification Process (Which is a part of God's plan of salvation). For if this was not the case, then Matthew 25:31-42 would not warn us that not helping the poor in this life leads to everlasting punishment, and Luke 9:62 would not warn us of not being fit for God's kingdom in not preaching the gospel. Jesus said if you love me, keep my commandments (John 14:15). The two greatest commands in quick summary is to love God and love your neighbor. This inevitably involves works because to just pay lip service in loving others is not the way of God's kingdom (Luke 10:25-37). Paul says in 1 Corinthians 16:22 that if any man loves not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be accursed. So I find it hard to believe that an accursed person who does not love the Lord is going to Heaven. One is either loyal to themselves and their own sin, or they are loyal to the Lord. Jesus said you cannot serve two masters.

No. Progressive Sanctification is taught clearly in 2 Corinthians 7:1. You simply are not reading and believing this Scripture verse.

“...let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” (2 Corinthians 7:1) (KJB).

The words “perfecting holiness” suggests that it is not an overnight done deal. It suggests something we have to perfect in our lives over time.

It would be like Rick telling Bob, let us fix this house of all it's imperfections, perfecting the beauty and structure of the home.

This would not be an overnight thing to perfect a home's beauty and structure. It takes time to fix older homes and to renovate them.

Progressive Sanctification is a gradual perfection in growing in holiness (i.e. in living holy unto the Lord). This makes sense because there are many instructions that we as believers are constantly learning about when we read the Bible. For do you think that the disciples were perfect in the beginning? They had to grow and learn in their holy walk with the Lord. The disciples did not even know about the Scriptures on Christ's resurrection. They had to grow and learn. So yeah, what your pushing is not in line with the Bible.
