I was a lesbian. One day I started reading the Bible, looking for a "loophole" to justify my sin. Instead I found several places in His Word where God states very clearly that my lifestyle of choice is an "abomination ". I didn't want to go to hell and I asked God to take away my sinful desire. Not even 24 hours after I gave my life to Christ I lost my same sex attraction. True story!

Hi Joni,

It's really great that you managed to find such a miraculous resolution to your predicament.

I have been heterosexual my entire life, and have no idea how I could ever possibly choose to be anything other than heterosexual, mostly because I have absolutely no homosexual desire. I think I could probably be very close to another person of my gender but I would really struggle with any sort of physical intimacy. So I can easily imagine that there are people out there who could exchange the word 'homosexual' with the word 'heterosexual' and agree completely with this paragraph (indeed I know such people personally).

I do not wish to take anything away from your experience because it is yours. However, you are in a very small minority of people who have experienced such a miraculous transformation.

So whilst it is fantastic that you are able to take up your mat and walk, it's important to recognise that lots of perfectly good Christians spend their entire lives in wheelchairs.

People like Joni Eareckson Tada perhaps.

It's conceivable that you were not born with such a restricted sexual orientation as myself, and others like me, and that you were always able to chose between a gay or straight lifestyle, in which case you didn't really require a miracle, just a different choice that didn't cause conflict with your religious beliefs.

True . Not everyone is set.free.

Many homosexual Christians have to renounce their desires and ok e celibate. I know a few like that

It really doesnt matter that you dont consider it a miracle. The important thing is that I do.

I didn't say that I didn't consider it a miracle, in fact I said the opposite. I said that not everyone gets the miracle and it's actually really important to recognise that.

I am confused by the title of the OP 'Living proof that I was not "born" that way'

It sounds like you are saying that you are living proof that no-one is really born gay it's just "a lifestyle of choice", and yet the very fact that you (and I) would describe your transformation as miraculous, would seem to indicate the direct opposite.

Am I missing something?

Let's not continue to argue about this. It's not very Christian and there is already enough unrest in the world. I have no desire to add to it. God bless you.
