Hello everyone, I hope everyone is healthy and safe. :)

I am schizoaffective and my illness is very profound. I hear voices and see things that aren't there. I am on medication prescribed by my nurse doctor, but these meds have huge and profound side effects. The medicine is not doing any good at all, though.

I would like to try to live my life without my medicines. I am so tired of being so sedated and drugged while the meds do nothing for me. I would like to give it a go.

So please pray for me, that I make the right decisions. Thank you.

No. That's the worst possible thing for you to do. Do NOT go off your meds.

Tell your doctor - or find a better one, and work towards finding medication that works for you.

This is what I will pray for, but dont go off your meds... Christians have illnesses of varying kinds that need treatment. We don't tell the Christian diabetic to stop taking insulin and just trust God, and neither do we tell a schizo affective patient to stop taking meds..

It's a pain to find the right dosage and the right medication... I know. My daughter had severe type 1 diabetes, she was so unstable that she was a candidate for a pancreatic transplant as she got older and we continually had to change up medication or just hospitalize her periodically to stabilise her sugars and try something different, and most the time not even the hospital could get her stable, times she was hospitalized for months in effort.

So yeah, definitely a pain... but like her, you have an illness - fight for your own stability via the medication as hard as my daughter fought for her life - it's worth it in the end. God gave us intelligence, the opportunity to be treated medically...do what's right for you, and it's NOT going off your meds

So please pray for me, that I make the right decisions.
We will, and more. Please also yourself begin to pray each day the prayer Christ gave you and me to pray each day --

9Pray then like this:

“Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
10 Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread,
12 and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil."

Matthew 6 ESV

Praying this perfect prayer perfectly aligned to God's will, you can be entirely sure God will grant your prayer when you pray with belief. These things in this prayer are deeper than we realize at first. Also, we need to listen to Christ's words to us throughout all the gospels.

I would not just yank yourself off of medication. That would not be wise, imho.

Talk to your doctor. See if there are other, milder medications to try, and look into changing your diet in the meantime.

For me, I have found that reducing sugars and junk food and processed food has helped my mental health and nerves a lot. But I would combine this with current medications, as you work with your doctor on finding something milder.

Exercise has helped me a lot, too! I struggle with invasive thoughts, depression, exhaustion, and anger issues. Walking has helped me immensely. Just getting out for walks and moving.

God bless you, friend!
