I can show you *dozens* of laws that penalize citizens in this country, and limit freedoms that were handwritten by Democrats on the left.
I'd love to hear them!

Show me three laws crafted by the right within the past 10 years that reduce any freedoms at all...
Well they are pretty clearly currently demonstrating an attack on voters rights; by law or by behaviour, so it goes.

What are your thoughts on gay marriage?
Euthenasia?
Drug legalization?
Transgender rights?

Trump, and all Republicans and right-wingers are for LESS infringement on citizens liberties and freedoms. This jargon of the American right being Authoritarian is obviously a European invention, and is foolishly being parroted now by the American left.
No, they're just for less infringement on the citizens' liberties and freedoms that you happen to care about.

You are thinking of Libertarians.
Republicans are not libertarians. Like....AT ALL.

Be careful with using a phrase like "obviously" in a claim like you did. Besides being incorrect, it is not obvious (though admittedly, it is not obvious because it is incorrect).

Whereas you're for more infringements on those citizens' liberties & freedoms ? "Infringe on the infringers" ?

Infringement on the infringing infringers? You've lost me.
Seemed like you were acknowledging the "more infringements" on the majority part of the other post, whilst countering that they only sought "less infringements" on their own majority selves, but more for other groups (?)

On second thought, that may not have been what you meant

I only meant that one man's infringements might be another man's liberties.

Perhaps also that things that are seen as infringements on liberties are really no such thing whatsoever.

Lol, the US's ally relationships and memberships in international orgs are in its own interest and are part of why it became so successful post WWII.

That people think the US can be as successful without those relationships and without spending as much money and blood are conning themselves.
Not like the UK isn't being this silly either at the moment with its trading and political relationships.

Prior to both WW1 and WW2 America adopted "isolationist" policies that would only postpone the inevitable given that outside circumstances would eventually impose that decision on the nation - despite its repeated attempts to avoid foreign entanglements!

If America is unwilling to assume its role as the world's premier super-power, there will always be be other "pretenders" waiting in the wings that are more than willing to fill that power vacuum - under Trump the trust of traditional NATO allies has been shaken and it will take time before the US regains its prior status!

Despite misguided US military forays into Vietnam and the Middle East, the world has managed to survive 75 years without another world war, so what is the logic behind abandoning the foreign policy approach that has successfully withstood the tests of time to adopt a more isolationist policy that has twice proven to be unsuccessful?

Did you sleep through the Patriot Act or something?

That was during wartime invasions, it doesn't count.

In the meantime, in the UK, your own citizens have no right to private property:

Out of curiosity, what's with the obsessive focus on the UK in this thread?

Plenty of other countries noted the US' decline, and so far as I can tell I'm the only UK person posting itt ^_^

Most curious.

I’m also a UK person.

You were the ones launching the invasions..

Good to know that your freedom only matters under certain precise circumstances though.

True. We could write a whole book on how France, with it's open arms is now being jabbed in the stomach by the very one's it went to help. Who didn't see that coming?

...It's only a matter of time now. The work is done.

Haven't you heard? An entire region is having mass protests against the Macron administration...

...It's only a matter of time before the French give up their free-speech liberties in order to improve their coveted reputation. If not the current administration, then likely the next. it's only a matter of time considering the *silence* of the West concerning free speech support.
