Shadows point forward=---shadow of things to come. The Sabbath is not a Shadow of Things to come=---it points back to creation week and to God as the creator of everything. It has not changed, it is still the 7th day and, as has been posted, it will be kept on the new earth---it is from God, eternal and everlasting as are all his commandments.

Colossians 2:16-17
Easy-to-Read Version
Don’t Follow Rules That People Make
16 So don’t let anyone make rules for you about eating and drinking or about Jewish customs (festivals, New Moon celebrations, or Sabbath days). 17 In the past these things were like a shadow that showed what was coming. But the new things that were coming are found in Christ.

I do find it interesting how our SDA friends have managed to co-opt this thread which has nothing whatsoever to do about their pet dogma and turn it into yet one more tedious discussion of it.

This is not talking about The Sabbath. This is talking about the Jewish festivals which were all called sabbaths. Some Jews insisted they all still need be kept and Paul said that is not needed, and to not pay attention to the Jewis 'rabbis, if you want to keep those that do not point to the slain Lamb, that is up to you. Those were the shadows, for they pointed to the coming Lamb as the Sacrificial Lamb. The Sabbath is not a shadow of things to come but has always been since creation and it points back to Creation week and God as the creator of all.

So, God has only one "special" day out of seven. The other six are yours to work. Are you Jewish?
God has one Sabbath day that is defined clearly in the 4th commandment and Genesis 2:3.

Do you not understand that all the Jewish festivals are called sabbaths? They all cease to work on those days. If you read the scriptures you would know that.

Lev 16:29 And this shall be a statute for ever unto you: that in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, ye shall afflict your souls, and do no work at all, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger that sojourneth among you:
Lev 16:30 For on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you, to cleanse you, that ye may be clean from all your sins before the LORD.
Lev 16:31 It shall be a sabbath of rest unto you, and ye shall afflict your souls, by a statute for ever.

Lev_23:24 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.

Lev_23:32 It shall be unto you a sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your sabbath.

There is also a land sabbath--6 years they sowed, the 7th year they did no sowing.

the sabbath days: 17 Which are a shadow of things to come;

If you notice---it says sabbath days---it does not say THE SABBATH DAY. Your passage is not sopeaking of THE SABBATH DAY but of these Jewish sabbath days.
And you think the sabbath day is not included?

This is not about The Sabbath---but sabbath days---festivals, so no. If it had read the Sabbath that would be different. Again, those other sabbaths were shadows of things to come, The Sabbath, points back to creation week.

In Lev 23 when they list the "sabbath"s guess what is at the top of the list.

It is still called the Sabbath. Sabbath means rest. The 7th, no matter what, is THE rest day that God created. Everyone tries so hard to try to forget the only commandment that begins with REMEMBER.

I agree words count!

How many words in the 4th commandment seventh day Sabbath, do you need in order for you to believe its a special day set aside from creation Genesis 2:3, in the commandments of God written by Him and a day Jesus and His disciples also kept and the day we will be worshipping Him in heaven. Isaiah 66:23.

Exodus 20
8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

You might want to try reading it again, it doesn't say that. God never changed His Sabbath, its the day He designed for us to Rest and a day He Blessed and made Holy, it's the day He requested, not the one changed by man. It's the seventh day Sabbath yesterday, today and tomorrow. God Bless

It is not a shadow of thi9ngs to come----it is the Memorial to the creative power that is God. God Himself states why He created it and no man has the power to change the words of God.

Gen 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
Gen 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
Gen 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

I don't think any one said any man has the power to say he did not rest from all his works on the 7th day as a memorial to creation . But the rest (mixing of faith) we have today is every time we hear his word and do not harden our hearts. Then we can say we are yoked with Christ who makes our burden of suffering lighter.

When we receive our new bodies the sufferings will be taken away as the shadow become the substance by which he has given the living hope .No man has received that rest in their new incorruptible bodies Hebrew 11:39 informs us all die not receiving it.

Does not change one bit the reason and purpose that God created the Sabbath.
