Do People Believe Homosexuality Still Abomination To God?

I just remembered seeing The Shining last week and seeing that man in the bear suit with its unmentionable cut out scene. I was like
giphy.gif
.

I found the scene on youtube, but I have to give a 'R' rating warning. Please do not watch if you are offended by depiction of sexuality and a little nudity.

There weren't many movies to see last week, so I ended up watching The Shining. I seen it several times before, but not in a theater. When it first came out, I waited for the DVD. I think it may have been too bizarre and didn't follow the book, so the audience didn't get it. The initial reviews were mixed. At the end, you kinda go huh?

Well, anyway after some discussion, people figured it out and the ending was up to interpretation. There a lot of scenes that are creepy. Thus, I think it's a classic now and came back to the theaters for Halloween.

But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. (James 1:14-15)

Homosexuality is not an abnormality; it is a result of an individual’s own sexual desires. Once this takes place, what happens? Note what the verse says, “Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.” This death is the second death, which is the Lake of Fire.
Your little bio there says you are engaged. (Congrats BTW) Is the only reason you are getting married is because of lust?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that you would deny this and be somewhat insulted at the question. Yet you have no problem stating that the only reason homosexuals enter into relationships or even exist is just lust.

Since the first AIDS cases were reported in 1981 through mid-1998, more than 665,000 AIDS cases and more than 400,000 deaths have been reported in the United States alone. This is only the tip of the iceberg of HIV infection. It is estimated that nearly 1 million Americans had been infected through the late 1990s but had not yet developed clinical symptoms. AIDS has spread around the world. In 1997 the United Nations announced that it had underestimated the spread of the disease and revised the worldwide estimate of people living with the virus from over 22 million in 1996 to over 30 million in 1997. More than 20 million of these people are in sub-Saharan Africa; 6 million are in Southeast Asia. The AIDS epidemic, which started in the 1980s, has devastated the gay community. (Quote from Grolier multimedia encyclopedia.)
it's also devastated the heterosexual community, there are 18 million AIDS orphans, children who have lost both parents to HIV/AIDS

The acceptance of homosexuality is also being spearheaded by today’s modern church.
“….Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever.” Many leaders of today’s churches have “changed the truth of God into a lie” and have led their congregation in accepting homosexuality as an acceptable practice.
do you think being black is also a practice?

Those so-called men and women that announce themselves as ministers of God, and say this behavior has their approval, they will have to deal with the Lord in the day of Judgement. The occupation of a minister of God is to be a watchman that warns the masses of the wrath to come because of sin. One of the most prevalent lies told by these ministers of Satan is, “come to the Lord as you are.” The Bible is clear on how an individual comes to stand before the Most High God. In the book of Acts chapter two verse 38 states that we must repent, and be baptized every one of us in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins. These so-call ministers skip over the word “repent” which simply means to make a change. We cannot come to the Lord as we are, we must clean our acts up first. We must understand brothers and sisters that there is no degree of sin in the eyes of the Lord. If we become practitioners of sin we will receive a just reward, which is the lake of fire.
if only they preached more hate.

Male homosexuals spread HIV and Hepatitis C to each other. When they became bisexual HIV was spread by sexual relations between a man and a women. Hepatitis C was spread from a man to a woman, if they had sex during her monthly period. The HPV virus causes cancer. HPV is spread by promiscuous relations of numerous types including lesbian sex.

Paul preached that those who rebelled against God became fools exchanging natural relations for unnatural relations - Romans 1:21-27.

Over 98% of cohabitating couples are heterosexual. It is not as if all have strayed into homosexual relations. Homosexuality is not socially acceptable to many.

So does heterosexual adultery. The main growth in STD's is in the elderly after the invention of Viagra.

So can heterosexual acts be a sin?

Homosexuality is pointed out more because they March in the streets showing their pride. Everyone else tends to hide their sin and not brag about it.

Homosexuality or Sodomy. Heterosexuals commit Sodomy all the time.

It isn't the 'being' that's the sin, it's the doing.
Like a heterosexual unmarried person is called to be celibate and pure so is the homosexual. Sex is for marriage only and marriage in God’s eyes is only one man to one women. It is not two women or two men or a man with multiple wives. The extra wives are not married to him, only the first wife is.

A heterosexual couple who have unmarried sex are committing the sin of fornication or immorality.
Colossians 3:5

Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.

The homosexual couple are also committing fornication and immorality, it doesn't matter if they are married or not because God doesn’t recognize that as marriage.
1 Corinthians 6:9-11

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

As I said in my previous post, it is not singling out homosexuals, being a dunked and swindler is in the same sentence. It is the practice of homosexuality, not simply the desire that is condemned. Everyone is tempted by something, be it to sin sexually, drink to excess or break things in anger, we are called to control ourselves.

1 Corinthians 9:24-27

24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. 26 Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. 27 No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.
No one said controlling ourselves was going to be easy.

1 Thessalonians 4:3-4

For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honour,
All unmarried Christians are called to practice purity.

Galatians 5:16

16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
By walking in the spirit.

But these verses are directed towards homosexual practices.
Old Testament
You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination. (Leviticus 18:22)

If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them. (Leviticus 20:13)

But it's not just the Old Testament, it is repeated in the New Testament.
For this reason God gave them up to dishonourable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. (Romans 1:26-27)

But there are just as many verses towards heterosexuals.
Matthew 19:4-5

He answered, “Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’?
Jesus was quoting from Genesis as this is where God instituted marriage.

Hebrews 13:4

Let marriage be held in honour among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.
Cheating on your wife is a sin and this doesn't just mean physical touching.

Matthew 5:28

28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
Obviously lust here refers to much than just seeing a women and finding her attractive, but dwelling on her, fantasising about her (would include inappropriate contentography) James sets that out in more detail.

James 1:14-15
14 but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. 15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
Desire by itself isn't called sin. Once desire has started it is at this point that self-control needs to be used to prevent it from turning into sin. Immediately on finding other women sexually attractive a man (or women) should immediately turn their thoughts away and towards their spouse.
1 Corinthians 7:1-40 is a great chapter on marriage.

I notice you don't include the Tenth Commandment on your list. Can a man being sexually attracted to a woman be sinful in nature just due to the sexual attraction?

Will anyone here say that the breaking of the Commandments is not an "abomination". Does a heterosexual man have to engage in a sex act to commit abomination before God? As written explicitly in the Law?

I didn't list the 10 commandments at all but I did list verses on lust and on how desire can turn to sin. Certainly coveting your neighbour's wife would fall under those verses.
I am confused to what your point is.

I do not believe that same-sex attraction is sin. We all, at least at times, desire things which are wrong. We are to turn from unrighteous desires and repent of them, however.
Same-sex acts are, of course, sinful. They can be repented of - just like other sins.

indeed.

"Sin is transgression of the law" 1 John 3:4
Being tempted to sin is not sin - but it can be from our own sinful nature... everyone is born with a sinful nature so just saying "I was born with it" does not mean we can yield to whatever sin the sinful nature is calling for.

Certainly sinful desire is a product of the sinful nature - and resisting it is the path of righteousness according to scripture.

Romans 8:4-9 says that the unsaved "do not submit to the Law of God - neither indeed CAN they".

Can I see where in the Bible where same sex attraction that is not Lust is discussed as sinful? Of course Lustfull heterosexual attraction is a sin as per the Commandments. Is heterosexuality completely condemned in the Bible because Lustful heterosexuality is? Is that the same with Homosexuality?

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath showed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. (Romans 1:18-21)

Note what the verse says, “Who hold the truth in unrighteousness.” Here we see these men knew the truth but “they glorified him not as God, neither were they thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart were darkened.” They professed themselves to be wise but became fools. This is going on all over the world, not just the U.S.

I'm not that naive that I think that it is only in US there is a problem. On the contrary. However I think many US Christians think they are part of a Christian nation, which they are not.

Jesus says in Matthew 13: 24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: 25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. 26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. 27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? 28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? 29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn. So we strengthen each other in the word of God and the Lord deal with it in his time. If you can get sinners to repent...then praise the Lord, no need to point the finger, the word of God does it automatically.
The Christian life is not automatic. I am not able to get anyone to repent. That's the work of the Holy Spirit. Sinners need to be convicted in order to be saved. Christians need to know what is and is not acceptable to God. When I was saved, Christians were encouraged to study the word for themselves and to develop a prayer relationship with God. Many churches either neglect this aspect of life or tell Christians they don't need to study the bible for themselves. It's no wonder that the church is now barely discernable from the world in many places. Jesus calls us to preach the Kingdom of God. Paul wrote to the Corinthians to advise them that certain behaviours disqualify people from experiencing Kingdom living. Paul rebuked the Corinthians for tolerating gross sin. He rebuked others for preaching false doctrine. The Bible is wonderful, but if the cover is closed and it gathers dust, it is useless.

The term homosexual means someone with a particular sexual orientation. Paul's comments have two very clear qualifications:
* they are about pagans
* they are about people who abandoned their natural orientation for same-gender sex

Attempts to apply this to Christian gays fail both tests.

Is it conceivable that Paul might condemn same-gender sex in one setting, but that this might not apply in general? Ask yourself whether the many condemnations of illicit opposite-gender sex imply a general rejection of opposite-gender sex?

So why is Rom 1 not interpreted with the same care?

Incidentally, we know a fair amount of how same-gender sex was practice in Rom. I absolutely agree with Paul's condemnation of it in the pagan Roman context that is so explicitly referred to.

If your right, you'll be able to find me even one instance of God and the Jews approving of a "Adam and Steve" marriage in the Bible.

It was a Pagan issue because it was ONLY a Pagan problem. There weren't any of God's people who were partaking of same sex activities, married or not.

There's not one instance of homosexual marriage anywhere to be found in the Bible, that should be your first clue, your second is that if it's spoken of at all, it's in the extreme negative.

Homo means same, sexual indicates sexual preference. A homosexual prefers sexual relations with someone of the same sex...

There's no gene for that.... it's not the way one is born, because you aren't born with a preference for having sex at all. It's something you grow into after reaching the age of accountability, depending on your choices.

Except on this subject no one thinks things are wrong because there are no examples in the Bible.

I don't claim that first century Jews approved this, just that it's not prohibited,
and that making accommodations for a condition like homosexuality is consistent with Jesus' teachings. First century Jews didn't understand about sexual orientation, just as they didn't understand many things that we do now.

For whatever reason people don't understand that. They now see love as acceptance. Churches fly the rainbow flag in support and Christians March with them showing their acceptance. We are told not to strengthen the hand of evil doers.

Yes. It's a misguided kind of love. Our top priority is loving God, which means we accept what He has declared, without question. If we truly love an unrepentant sinner, we will be careful not to encourage them to continue further into sin. Indeed, to do otherwise would be being hateful towards them.

First century Jews understood sexuality as much as we understand it today. You aren't more enlightened, you just could care less about sin...

The problem here is that if a man or woman be truly in Christ, he has living in him the Spirit of the living God which frees him from sin, and empowers him to overcome sin.

We won't be perfect, we will still fall prey from time to time to our flesh, but God's Holy Spirit which all God's children are sealed from the moment of our salvation, begin to be transformed into the image of Christ.

The problem with the homosexual, is some may claim Christianity without showing any evidence of being Christian. They want to revel in sin, bathe in it, while attempting to convince you they are new births in Christ.

I'm not buying it because I know how the Holy Spirit operates in the life of the new believer. I've experienced the sea change given to the new child of God.

It's an experience practicing homosexuals deny in their lives, and if they stay in churches that don't share the truth with them, they will die denying and never see salvation.

It is because of that, that we as Christians must keep the purity of the church, otherwise, we are here for nothing because we arent sharing the truth of Christ with the lost.

Sure. There's no question that marriage between male and female is the typical case. But we make accommodations for exceptions all the time. God created Adam and Eve with two legs each, but we use wheelchairs for exceptions. To use a more controversial example, Jesus prohibited divorce, but there are times when staying in the marriage is even worse. (Matthew and Paul cited specific examples of exceptions.) I consider gay marriage an accommodation for people for whom heterosexual relationships would be impossible or dangerous. 1 Cor 7:9 notes the dangers of trying to maintain celibacy when you don't have the gift.

Indeed the discussion of AIDS and other STDs points in that direction. You really want to encourage gays to be faithful to a single partner. It's even more important for them to provide the kind of social support for such a relationship that marriage provides.

I'm aware that divorce is still controversial, although not as much as a few decades ago. There are Christians who don't agree that exceptions are allowed. But they don't confidently proclaim that people who disagree aren't Christians or that Western civilization is about to fall because of it. (Although frankly, the inability and in some cases lack of desire of heterosexuals to maintain faithful marriages may well be a danger to Western civilization larger than a few married gays ever could be.)
