I'm 68 years old. I got saved in 1971. Preachers have been saying that we are in the end times since back then. Every incident that happens in the world is another indication of impending tribulation.

" You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains.
Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come."

"So when you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains."

This statement was from the Olivet Discourse where Jesus was prophesying. Part of it referred to the future destruction of Jerusalem by Titus in 70 AD. During that event, a Roman general stood in the Holy of Holies, where only the High Priest was allowed to be. That was an abomination of desolation and most likely to what Jesus was referring. That was the "end of the age." But it wasn't the first "abomination of desolation." Antiochus Epiphanes IV who ruled Palestine from 174-64 BC sacrificed a swine on the brazen altar and set up a statue to Zeus in the temple.

Later in the chapter Jesus talks about the end times when He will return. He warns of false prophets and makes it clear that when He returns, all the world will see Him. At that time He will send out his angels to gather his elect from the four winds. This is a strong indication of a post-tribulation rapture.
But there are indications in the New Testament of a pre-tribulation rapture as well.

But one thing is evident: Jesus made it very clear that we are not to know the time of the end. We are to live as if it could occur at any moment. One thing that studying Bible prophecy over the years has shown me is that much of what we believe will happen is due to the popularity of certain writings by a fallible human interpretation of Scripture. And that, as Israel completely misunderstood prophecies concerning the first advent of the messiah, we could easily fall into the same trap, especially if we allow men (well intentioned or not) to interpret prophecy for us. I've seen some pretty big stretches of imagination regarding prophecy, especially when theologians try to find the US in prophecy. And I don't think I need to recount the ridiculous theories regarding who may or may not be the Antichrist.

It matters very little if we know when the end is coming. We will know what is expected of us should be live long enough to experience the persecution which will surely come. Keep in mind, much of the world's believers are already experiencing persecution. We, in the United States and in most Western nations have been shielded from that horror. But recent events have shown the teachings of the Bible are in direct opposition to many powerful forces at work. For the first time in U.S. history, churches are under attack by the government. Our faith is going to be tested. Especially our willingness to love our enemies, resist not evil and not return evil with evil or violence with violence.

Jesus will return in His own time. Our job is to tend the garden, share our faith with others and above all be living ambassadors of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

You say, "Jesus made it very clear that we are not to know the time of the end."
When Scripture contradicts itself, we need to look at our assumptions to consider where we might be wrong.
Speaking of when "we which are alive and remain shall be caught up" (1Thess 4:17), two verses later Paul uses the SAME phrase that Christ used when He told DISCIPLES "it is not for you to know the times and seasons" but Paul said we know them!--1Thess 5:1 and he links the "day of the LORD" (extension of "night of the Lord" in Exod 12:41 when death fell on Egypt) and sudden destruction will come, "as travail on a woman with child" (think of Egypt's travail with God's 1st born, Exod 4:22. Lot's of parallels Egypt when God "executed judgment" (Exod 12:12) as He will on the US for being worse than Egypt--they killed babies but we've aborted 60 million and enslaved most people in alcohol, tobacco, negative lifestyles...
Let me suggest more information at http://TheFallofAmerica.blog that has several short videos!

The first horseman has already arrived and has deceived most of mankind. It is this deception that will open the door for the other three.
Are we aware of a false messiah as told by the first horseman?

This is a good question, sparked by a couple articles seen on the internet. The answer is “soon but not yet”, and here are three reasons why we may expect the red horse of war to take peace from the earth in 2023, but first, an insight as to a couple events before the red horse.

The events of Revelation are initiated or signaled by an earthquake clearly seen in Rev 8:5. Then the 7 angels with the 7 trumpets prepare to sound. This sequence is also seen in Rev 10:3 when a mighty angel cries as a lion roars to initiate the 7 thunders. The ‘lion’s roar’ is the Lion of Judah. The Lord shall roar…the earth shall shake.” Joel 3:16. The lion’s roar is also seen in Rev 6:1 before the four horsemen.

When John heard “thunder,” he said it’s the 1st beast (compare 2nd beast in Rev 6:3; 3rd in 6:5; 4th in 6:7). The first beast is a lion (Rev 4:7) and again it’s the Lion of Judah, Rev 5:5, who ‘roars’ with an earthquake. (above)

Historically, an earthquake ended the ancient lukewarm church of Laodicea—type and antitype for our time! An earthquake also initiates the end-time “day of the Lord” as seen in Isa 2:12,21; Joel 2:10,11, 1Thess 5:2,3--this text doesn't specify "earthquake" with"day of the Lord" but it says "sudden destruction" when they say "Peace & safety."

The church of Laodicea, the churches of this age
comparing scripture with scripture

1 Peter 5:13 The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you; and so doth Marcus, my son.

As we are entering a new era, the church structure is changing; this is called a time shift, as God points out in Revelation. Who will listen to the warnings?

Rev 3:14-22 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;

Paul is addressing God’s Majesty
15I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou were cold or hot.
God says I know you inside and out's and find little to my likings, you’re neither with Me all the time, and you’re neither against Me all the time, far better to be either with Me all the time or against Me all the time,”

Ezek 43:7-9 neither the people of Israel nor the pastors will ever again drag my holy name through the mud with their whoring and the on-god idols their Pastors set up at all the worship places. When they set up their worship places right along with side mine with only a thin wall between them. They drag my holy name through the mud with their obscene and vile worship. Is it any wonder that I destroy them in my anger?

So let them get rid of their whoring ways and the stinking no- god idols introduce by their pastors and I'll move in and live with them forever.

16Since you are lukewarm and neither hot nor cold, I am going to spit you out of my mouth.

You’re neither with Me all the time, and you’re neither against Me all the time, far better to be either with Me all the time nor against Me all the time,”

Matt 7:22-23 (KJV) Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Lev 18:23-25 (KJV) Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion.
Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you:
And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants.

Job 20:15 He hath swallowed down riches, and he shall vomit them up again: God shall cast them out of his belly.

17Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

Neh. 9:29 And testified against them, that thou mightest bring them again unto thy law: yet they dealt proudly, and hearkened not unto thy commandments, but sinned against thy judgments, (which if a man does, he shall live in them and withdrew the shoulder, and hardened their neck, and would not hear.

1 John 2:16-17 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father but is of the world.
And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever.

John 10: 11 - 16I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
But he that is a hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. 13The hireling fleeth, because he is a hireling, and careth not for the sheep.
I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
As the Father knoweth me, even so, know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.

And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice, and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

A Hireling’ is a Person or Pastor, a hired shepherd, a mercenary, who tends the flock, the children of God for his own interest. When a hired shepherd sees the wolf coming he flees, not caring about the sheep.

18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

You brag, ‘I’m rich, I’ve got it made, I need nothing from anyone,’ oblivious that in fact you’re a pitiful, blind beggar, threadbare and homeless.

Job 29:14-17 I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: my judgment was as a robe and a diadem.
I was eyes to the blind, and feet was I to the lame.
I was a father to the poor: and the cause which I knew not I searched out.
And I broke the jaws of the wicked and plucked the spoil out of his teeth.

Isaiah 61:10-11 I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.
For as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.

19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
You learned deep in your heart that God disciplines you in the same ways a father disciplines his child.

2 Sam 7:14-15 (KJV)I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men:
But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee.
(When the Holy Spirit, First begins the cleansing, I will sprinkle a little fire

upon you. This is a process, when you are
being chastised, which will lead you to confession, and then chasing to continue you’re cleansing. Read Job 5: 17

20Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hears my voice, and opens the door, I will come into him and will sup with him, and he with me.

1 Peter 4:1 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;

1 Peter 5:10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you.

Heb 5:7 Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Romans 12:11I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. But it is a choice. God loves you, I know.

21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

Rev 3:10-11 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.
Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

Mark 14:37-38 And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour?
38 Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.

1 Cor. 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

22 He that hath an ear let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Gen 6:3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be a hundred and twenty years.
