It seems that farmers, by and large are huge fans of Trump.

My question is:
Why?
His policies have made life difficult for them and the ONLY reason any real positive signs can be attributed to him is a 28billion dollar payout due to his failed trade policies and war with China. And that doesn't count for hte extra 13 billion that got snuck in through COVID spending.

Trump announces $13 billion in additional coronavirus aid to farmers
This quote made me giggle:
“Starting next week, my administration is committing an additional — you’ve been asking for this for a long time — $13 billion to help farmers recover from the China virus, including Wisconsin’s incredible dairy, cranberry, and gingseng farmers, who got hurt badly.” The USDA was expected to announce details as early as Friday for what Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue has called CFAP2.
Teehee! Yes, the gingseng farmers JUST got hurt badly by Trump virus....not the trade policies that put up blockades and tarrifs.
Wisconsin farmers stand to lose as China ends purchases of ag products
Look at the trade deals affected according to this article:
China is Wisconsin’s third-largest trading partner, behind Canada and Mexico, with more than $1.6 billion in goods and services shipped there in 2018. Dairy products, corn, soybeans, ginseng and cranberries are some of the agricultural markets that have come to rely on Chinese trade deals.

And he has the audacity to cover up his ineptitude and blame someone else.
Though, that said, there isn't really anything audacious about behaving COMPLETELY on brand, even if the behaviour is detestable.

Is this another example of Trump getting "picked on"? No. This is, yet again, another example of Trump's ineptitude and poor strategies hurting Americans.

But again I ask, perhaps more POINTEDLY:
What is the logical reason for a farmer to support trump?

Trump rolled back a bunch of water purity stuff that farmers found onerous.

Also, Buy American trade policies help them.

Not a farmer but I grew up on one and still have friends and relatives in the business.
Thank you! I appreciate it that. Do you have any more details about the "water purity" stuff? I'm curious about that.

Are the Buy American trade policies NEW or revamped or strengthenned in some way?

Not at ALL trying to discredit. I DO appreciate this info. Just trying to get a better understanding.

My friends who grow apples would beg to differ. The trade war with China has caused them a lot of issues.

Maybe they see the trade deals as planting a seed to boost American industry.

He who goes out weeping, bearing the seed for sowing, shall come home with shouts of joy, bringing his sheaves with him.

This will give you an overview of some of the water purity issues, though not the regulations.

That may be a major factor in all the recalls of produce due to contamination with e-coli or listeria. Water quality matters!

I raised cattle up until a few years ago, so I can't speak for affected farmers.. however, a survey conducted showed that:

"a record-high 78% of farmers said they believe the trade war will ultimately benefit U.S. agriculture"

US-China trade war is hurting farmers, but they're sticking with Trump

So I'll say that even if it hurts them in the short term, the belief is that in the long run it will ultimately be a benefit, a greater benefit than allowing business as usual concerning Chinese trade would be...

Not an outlandish belief by any stretch of the imagination.

Well that is more than a little interesting. Do you have an article for that?

I wonder if there are any indicators that would support or suggest that or if at this point, it's more just based on trust.

If they felt they were being hurt by U.S. / Chinese trade as it existed, they would be willing to endure hardships to turn that around to their benefit...

Or, they may be willing to endure the hardship in order to benefit Americans as a whole as farmers are some of the more patriotic Americans... It's rural son's and daughters more readily joining the military compared to other segments of society.

So as I read these articles, what I read is that farmers have received 41 billion from Trump in three years, that Chinese markets are fickle and unpredictable (no idea how common this is) and also worth $19 billion pre tariff war and $9ish billion as of those articles, and that they think Trump had a good idea and see him as the only person who can protest them (what was that linked with again? I can never remember)

In all honesty I never really would hq e thought that, as a profession, farmers would prefer social programs to the market do it's eventual good work.

Ps;. Thank you for your experiences and news articles.
