Where I as a Catholic left the Catholic church.
Yes but you are no longer in union with Rome. It’s pretty specific here. It does not mean you still are not in ignorance of what the Church teaches. Many Catholics that leave aren’t.

I mentioned it in case he didn't know. That is all.
That’s okay but as I said, you still could be in ignorance and left under false impressions, etc. it does not mean you are doomed. Only God can judge eternal destination.

This would be me. However, I don't agree with it.

Had I a choice, which I didn't as I was born into a Catholic family, I wouldn't have chosen the Catholic church.
I placed a post somewhere on CF some years back, asking for lapsed Catholics to consider returning to Mother Church, even though I am not Catholic, but just on the chance that the EENS salvation doctrine is true. I was criticized by a few posters for doing so. I wonder if my call to return home had any takers?

Does a protestant fit in "saved ignorant" person? @Michie told me so.
I am not Catholic, but based upon my research, it appears that the vast majority of Catholics today believe that life long Protestants and Orthodox are protected by "invincible ignorance". However, it seems that some Ultra-Traditional/Traditional Catholics have doubts, even grave doubts in some cases, that Protestants and Orthodox Christians are covered by the doctrine of "invincible ignorance".

I left about a year ago. As I said, I wouldn't have chosen the Catholic church if I had a choice. However, I have chosen my church home now and this is what I would have chosen if given the choice.

Good post by the way, Michie. While many on CF are aware of the EENS salvation doctrine, there are always some that may not understand the Church's current interpretation.
I feel that’s more the case Basil. I can’t imagine anyone knowingly believing they are in the fullness of faith and leaving it with that knowledge.

I have a question and I don't mean to stir up the pot but what about the Orthodox as Catholics recognize they have valid Apostolic succession so that their Eucharist, Reconciliation and Anointing of the Sick are considered valid by the Roman Catholic Church. I do realize that the RCC does not consider our Lutheran Eucharist to be valid(we believe in the Real Presence and have closed communion in our confessional Lutheran church)because we no longer have valid Apostolic Sucession.
Just a question?

Orthodox are in schism
They have valid sacraments but are not in union with the Catholic bishops

so they are still outside the Church
