Last night before I went to sleep, I had a long conversation with God.
It has been an extremely frustrating week. A lot of things have not gone right and it has left me feeling quite disappointed and disillusioned.
Why do I bother praying when nothing seems to happen. That is the question I kept repeating and asking God. And the more I asked this question, the more the answer became clearer to me. I am praying because I trust God to meet my needs. I am praying because, whatever my circumstances, deep down I know that He is my heart's desire. If anything fails in my life, I can always count on the very thing that will never fail - His unfailing love and grace.
Ultimately my motivation for praying is that I love God. And I have found, time and time again there is nothing that touches the heart of God more than the words of a child of his telling Him that they love Him. When we come to God in simple faith and trust, and tell him that we love Him, we will find ourselves totally embraced by Him.
Telling God we love Him is not only the highest compliment we can give Him, by saying these simple words, we find the best possible answer to all our prayers. Whatever our problems, whatever our situations, God Himself is the answer. He is our refuge, He is our fortress, He is our peace. And He loves us with an everlasting love.

Yes, he himself is the answer. Our refuge, fortress and peace.
I am reading this lovely hymn,
May the mind of Christ my Saviour
