Leviticus 19:12. And you shall not swear by My name falsely, nor shall you profane
the name of your God: I am the Lord.

A common expression in Israel by the time of the Monarchy was to swear
“As The Lord Lives.” For example:

1 Samuel 19:6. So Saul heeded the voice of Jonathan, and Saul swore,
As the Lord lives, he shall not be killed.

In the time of Jeremiah, the people of Jerusalem are condemned for swearing
falsely by that name.

Jeremiah 5:
1
Run to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem; See now and know; And seek in her open places If you can find a man, If there is anyone who executes judgment, Who seeks the truth, And I will pardon her.
2 Though they say, As the Lord lives, Surely they swear falsely.
3 O Lord, are not Your eyes on the truth? You have stricken them, But they have not grieved; You have consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction. They have made their faces harder than rock; they have refused to return.

Thus, an important element to returning and being restored to the Lord
is to once again swear to His Name in Truth.

Jeremiah 4:
1
If you will return, O Israel, says the Lord, Return to Me;
and if you will put away your abominations out of My sight,
then you shall not be moved.
2 And you shall swear, The Lord lives,
In truth, in judgment, and in righteousness;
The nations shall bless themselves in Him,
And in Him they shall glory.

This name was given for a greater purpose; to call on Him in trouble.
Psalm 50:
14
Offer to God thanksgiving, and pay your vows to the Most High.
15 Call upon Me in the day of trouble;
I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.

Is there a Name in Israel by which the people can call on The Lord?
Acts 4:
10
let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ
of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands
here before you whole.
11 This is the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’
12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men
by which we must be saved.

Ephesians 1:21. Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name
that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come.
1 Timothy 2:5. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.
