Here's a 23 week old baby: alive and well. It is still permissible to put a knife through its back.

Devastating

Maybe if you'd used described a credible scenario. As it is, the point was not made.
Oh, I don't know, maybe it has. Abortion is the be-all and end-all of Christian politics in the US as far as I can see (and the OP bears this out). In other words it clearly wouldn't matter what a party stands for as long as the first issue raised is abortion... after that anything could be said because Christians have already made up their mind.

If you don't believe me, then where in the Christian lobbying is the nuanced view being espoused and encouraged. As far as I can tell anyone who doesn't tackle the abortion issue... is destined for hell!

The powerful voice of Evangelical Christians is being used for personal gain, and if God gets glorified it is incidental.

Abortion isn't a choice; it's taking an innocent life. Abortion advocates like to fancy themselves as "pro-choice," but such a term is misleading. It wouldn't make sense if I were to say that stealing is wrong, but I would never interfere in other people's right to choose to steal, and therefore conclude that theft shouldn't be a crime.

Many verses in the Bible testify to the fact that there is life in the womb. One such verse is Luke 1:41: "When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit."

How can any Christian vote for politicians who support abortion? That goes against God's teaching in the Bible not to murder (Exodus 20:13).
I supported claimed anti-abortion Republicans for 30+ years.

Meanwhile, Republicans, in general, have only grown more and more depraved.

Times up !!! I have no further faith in them ... or tolerance for them ...

Even there hypocrisy abounds in the US. While the Republicans have made pro-life part of their platform in the past, including calling for amending the Constitution, they have failed to bring forth an amendment even when they controlled the House, Senate and Presidency. There were always other, more urgent issues to deal with. The pro-life amendment talk by the party really became just a tool to harvest votes each election.

There are at least 2 other parties in the US, Constitution and American Solidarity come to mind, which have strong pro-life amendment planks in their platform. Most of the single issue abortion voters say they would be throwing their vote away by supporting a third party since they have no chance to win. Which is true, because they do nothing to actually change that situation before election time. If abortion was really such the be-all issue, they should be fighting between elections to try and bring support behind one of those parties so that they can become viable, make debates, and become part of the political landscape.

But that is a longer road to success with no short term gratification. The reality is many of the single issue advocates really also like being on the side that holds power. So they are willing to say "look at the words!" and ignore the lack of action as they cast a vote for the candidate saying what they want to hear. Then they throw stones at any other Christians who chose to support a different candidate (even if the Christian also opposes abortion but recognizes the reality of the situation and the importance of other issues as well).

The abortion debate is also a political Litmus Test. If you don't stand for the lives of unborn children (i.e. righteousness) , what do you stand for?

Matthew 17:2 It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.

Given our US Constitution and the current state of politics, mathematically a vote outside of the "Pro-Life" Republican party candidate or "Pro Life" Democrat party candidate (if you can find one) will not register as a vote against the murder of the unborn children. Reality Reality.

A vote for Republicans won't either - given their past actions (not words). They may pass a law here and there to make it harder to get one in some locales, but then they fall behind the other party in taking actions that reduce the demand for abortion. Republicans actions have shown they are not willing to fight the battle to actually eliminate abortion. Either way, a vote for either party will not register as a vote against the murder of unborn children in action. If the principle of pro-life is the issue, work to change the current electoral landscape (which goes to my prior post).

Im surprised no one has mentioned (that I have seen) the push by some Democrats, including Hillary, for abortion up to birth and even after birth. One of the questions that should be considered as part of this is the effect the different parties getting into power will have, limiting abortions or extending them.

The most profound symptom here is death: the last dot point. The other symptoms aren't a choice for an aborted child: just death. Because a mothers life is more important than a babies life, right? No they are equally important in God's eyes!

Actually, the souls of each are more important in God's eyes than their physical lives.

The soul of the baby is not in jeopardy--the baby will go to heaven. The soul of the mother is in jeopardy.

But what can we do to protect the soul of the mother?

But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

That verse tells us the sin is in the heart even if we prevent the act. Will putting the sheriff's gun to the woman's head prevent the intention from entering her heart? We still haven't rescued her soul.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

The weapons of our warfare are not the weapons of the world. Instead, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.

The gun of the sheriff and the gavel of the judge are weapons of the world. They do not rescue souls. They do not prevent the damning sin of the heart. They are not the weapons Christians are authorized to use to fulfill the mission of Christ on this earth.

What is our weapon?

Overcome evil by doing good.

What is the mission?

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.

This is the mission and the way souls are saved.

As a foreigner I have always assumed that the Republicans were the party opposed to abortion but of course Roe v Wade was passed on their watch and is still in place despite the reagan- bush years and 4 years of Trump. It seems most of Trumps Supreme Court justices been chosen for their position on the second amendment rather than abortion. There is already a conservative majority in SCOTUS and yet Roe v Wade and the principle of viability is still in place - why? If voting Trump makes no difference re the actual law and if the Democrats have a record of reducing the body count in the abortion holocaust with sex education then the abortion issue is not a reason to vote for Trump. Of course the appointment of Barrett might change the dynamic in SCOTUS but if it does why do you still need Trump when the Health crisis and CV19 combined are causing a higher body bag count than abortion right now and Barrett is already in place.

If you oppose abortion then by all means don’t have one. That’s simple enough.
Well let's try this. Imagine people were pushing for the right to drive their automobiles 60 miles an hour in a residential zone and the ones so desiring to say if you oppose driving this fast then by all means don't do it. Simple enough. Leave the rest of us alone though!

Absolutely, ... if Barrett is pushed through (establishing a 6-3 Conservative majority on the Court), ... there's no reason to vote for Trump ...

What do you believe Barrett’s chances are of getting pushed through?

God has a plan for each one including the time and place of our births:
-“And he made from one man every race of men to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted epochs and the fixed boundaries of the places where they would live;” (Acts 17:26)

He formed us:
-“For You formed my innermost parts; You knit me [together] in my mother’s womb” Psa 139:13
-“Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us? why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers?” Mal 2;10
-“The spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.” Job 33:4
"I will put ligaments on you, place muscles on you, and cover you with skin. I will put breath in you, and you will live. Then you will know that I am Yahweh." Eze 37:6

Except I would hope that we all agree, or at least the vast majority of us would agree, that driving 60 in a residential zone is dangerous. We don’t all agree that life begins at conception.

Plenty of innocents die in war. And there is no question those people are actually alive, which there is still debate about when life begins.
Innocents are killed in war..
But, as a soldier you are not willfully killing a innocent defenseless person... as you one and only goal.

Again, one who cannot grasp the blatantly obvious difference between those killed in wars... and the direct and single goal of killing an unborn child in the place it is to be the safest....is not worth debating.

And, if you want to pull the "we don't know when life starts card".. what in the name of God, is driving the growth of that young child from the moment of conception.... if it is not alive.

Dead cells do not replicate, duplicate, and grow...
