What happens with section 230 could affect even CF.

Senator Blackburn understands that we should not get rid of section 230, but instead reform it but she wants it only to apply to small SM companies, and not big tech companies, but even the small SM companies, including platforms like USA.Life, may become big tech companies themselves. What then?

We need reform, but we need the right kind of reform that will protect SM platforms from frivolous lawsuits, but at the same time holds them accountable for any nefarious activities they may commit.
Blackburn: Eliminate Section 230 Liability Protections for Large Companies, Keep It for Small Ones

If the companies have grown since the 90's, the regulations should keep pace.

Even 15 years ago people looked at you bewildered if you asked if they had email. Dumbing things down to a smart phone finally got things moving but we are finding people still can't handle the psychological effects of too much info. Now discernment is lost and they are far too easily manipulated. We've gone from worrying about if Nigerian prince's needing our help with their millions is legit, to tearing down statues of old historic criminals and replacing them with modern criminals. The companies need to be regulated with their new power and so do we. We didn't have this problem with library books simply because it was usually only rational people who used them..

All people and companies have a right to express their views but what is needed is regulation that holds those companies accountable for nefarious activity yet without suppressing the freedom of speech of anyone.

I agree about freedom of speech. No one should be sheltered from what another has to say... pro or con. No one should self determine what is allowed. Churches tried it and it didn't work for them. In the 90's a new breed of insecure momma demanded their kids never be faced with anything negative. Well now they've grown and can't handle real life when it pokes at their bubble. We grow by way of alternating ideas and dialogue, but when a nation has lost it's way and no longer knows how to compromise the system falls apart. When two people of opposing views hug, people go ballistic because they believe everyone is to be treated as an enemy. How fragile they have become when what used to address intellect now agitates emotions.

Sad but true, but the real enemy is not one made of flesh and blood, but rather the unseen forces who use flesh and blood to carry out their wicked deeds yet so many are blind to that reality, even within the Church.

I agree. Blaming the internet is like blaming a gun. Both can harm no one unless someone is misusing it for gain. Man since the Garden by way of self interest has sought gain at the expense of others. Now that the feeble minded can be reached on a mass scale, the dangers rise. It used to take a decade to stir up a nation to cause global turmoil. Now it seems it can be done with one tweet.

The US has a form of limited capitalism. Whenever a small number of people dominate a sector the government will come in and either break them up or regulate the sector. And it will regulate critical sectors from the get-go, like telephone, railroads, airwaves. Big tech has gotten huge because government looked the other way while the revolution was going on. We were too distracted by the new shining objects, and fantastically rich big tech knows how to grease politician's palms - and that goes for both parties.

Remediation is obviously necessary, because social media is the new public square and is vital to the national interest. We can't have the likes of Jack Dorsey dictating what is and what is not allowable speech, as he is doing. Smaller entities should be allowed more freedom to serve their subgroups' particular interests.

No one should be dictating what is or what is not allowable speech for that matter. But the Mark Zuckerbergs and Jack Dorseys of the world are the reason why we have alternative SM sites like USA.Life, GAB, Parler, and others and also the reason why I always advise people to establish their presence on more than one platform when it comes to SM in case one platform decides that they don't like you very much or the content you post.

And precisely why there has been decades of discrediting the competition and calling them conspiracy theorists.

But the competition, in some cases, is becoming quite formidable despite the odds stacked against them.

Agreed and this is just more publicity for the offenders.

So will the defense be that it is the people who are at fault as they have other choices for sites to rant on?

I sense the inevitably that the wrath of the oppressor will not only be directed at the competition, but also the people who align themselves therewith. Sooner or later, subtleties will be done away with and the attacks will be head on.
