I am going to present a few questions that are designed to get my fellow brothers and sisters to think. The majority of the followers of Christ lack a knowledge of God’s standards. Some have been led astray from the pure words of the Lord by false teachers. Some love that one particular sin and will refuse to hear anyone that calls it out. God’s standard is Jesus Christ our Lord and anything short of that should be acceptable for all of us, myself included.

Why have we as a church body adopted so many of the world's customs? Why do we celebrate the same holidays as the pagans and not the Lord’s holy days that are mentioned in the bible? Some may say that we aren't Jewish and to that I ask well are we heathens?

Why do we love competition, as in sports, game night, video games, etc? Do you not understand that the spirit behind these things is “PRIDE”? Some might say that I do it for fun but somebody will still lose.

Why do we watch tv shows that glorify the sins of the flesh such as Galatians 5:19-21 list?

Why is it hard to distinguish between a Christian and a worldly person? Instead of us converting them, they are converting us to their ways. What says the Lord:

2 Corinthians 6:14,17-18
[14]Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
[17]Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
[18]And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

Why do we say we follow God but hold to the traditions of men that cannot be found in the bible?

Why do we get offended by the truth? One of the fruits of the Spirit is love right? Well love is not easily provoked (to irritated, aroused to anger) according to 1 Corinthians 13:4-5. So why take offense? Could it be that it goes straight to the heart of a cherished sin?

In these last days we need to search our hearts. We must humble ourselves in the sight of the Lord and pray that we are fit for the kingdom of heaven. We can appear to be righteous on the outside but the Lord knows what lies in our hearts. Some may get offended by these questions but that is not my intention. My intention is to raise up the standard that God has set in his holy word. We all, myself included, will have to stand in the judgment. Will you be found wanting or be welcomed with open arms by our lovely savior Christ Jesus?

Thanks BrotherD,

Some great questions we should all consider as we examine ourselves to see if we are in the faith or not as God tells us to. Don't wont to be disappointed come judgement day. Yet the scriptures tell us that the "Many" will be *Matthew 7:21-23 because they love darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil *John 3:19. These all having a form of Godliness (the profession) but denying God's power to save them from their sins *2 Timothy 3:1-5

God bless

Yes brother, i agree. Those are also great scriptures as well.

Psalms 139:23-24
[23]Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
[24]And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

May we do as this scripture says and trust in the Lord to lead us to heavens gate.

There is nothing wrong with hobbies and sports but we must not be doing them out of prideful competition.

JEsus has given us His righteousness to make isn't it for heaven but once we are saved as need to live like the heaven assured children of God we are

We are. chosen people royal priesthood and our lives should reflect that.

I'm switching back an forth between Deus Ex: The fall, and CF at the moment, so, maybe its all about balance.

I mean for some reason I just don't feel guilty for doing something relaxing on occasion.

Nor me. Tv books hobbies are Ok in themselves but we can chose to glorify God by making sure what we look at is wholesome and doesn't glorify immorality

I loved the show Family Guy but I had to give it up because so much lewd joking and blasphemy in it. so sad. Because some very clever satire in it and I am sure Seth MaCFarlane could use his talents to create something juat.as.good.and witty.but much cleaner

The way I see it, these games are no more than a challenge. It's like the proverbial meat offered to idols, I know perfectly well no magic spells are cast, and any serious story line, is no more than that. I only get caught up in the challenge, and nothing else means anything, one way or another.

We are neither heathens nor members of the Jewish faith. And as for the question of holidays, WE DO NOT as Christians celebrate any pagan holidays. There may be some similarities in incidentals, as there are between all the religions of mankind, and they may fall at about the same time of year, but there are no Christian holy days that are simply revamped pagan ones.

I am so happy that I left a fundamentalist church decades ago! Why do you even post such things as "The majority of the followers of Christ lack a knowledge of God’s standards. Some have been led astray from the pure words of the Lord by false teachers. Some love that one particular sin and will refuse to hear anyone that calls it out". How do you know what the majority of the followers of Christ know or don't know? Have you taken a poll or is that just your own biased, critical opinion of your sisters and brothers in Christ?

You say, "My intention is to raise up the standard that God has set in his holy word" but I believe that your intention is to make yourself the judge of others in the body of Christ. If you are judging Christians you are judging the Lord's body. Be careful, my friend!!

Try reading Romans 2:1-3, "Therefore you have no excuse, everyone of you who passes judgment, for in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things. And we know that the judgment of God rightly falls upon those who practice such things. But do you suppose this, O man, when you pass judgment on those who practice such things and do the same yourself, that you will escape the judgment of God?

So should I take your name off the invite list to my Halloween party*?

*Disclaimer: ViaCrucis aka CryptoLutheran is not actually throwing a Halloween party this year, not only because he is completely broke at the moment and so won't be able to afford refreshments, but also because social distancing is important, and he wouldn't want to be irresponsible in these uncertain times. Also, send help, self-isolating and lack of sleep has made him loopy and start talking in the third person. Over and out. Roger roger.

Sorry that should read fit for heaven

regarding biblical feasts there is one which Christians should celebrate and that is the communion or lords supper.

It is true that hobbies are good as long as it edifies. Sports is a tough one to call because it always involves a loser unless one is not keeping score. I believe we ought to keep the biblical feasts minus the sacrifices.

I agree with you that the holidays are very pagan, but would you be opposed to keeping God's feast days even though it all points to Christ?

I am very familiar with those verses brother. I was very careful not to judge but i knew some would be bothered by it. If you believe any of those points i made was wrong let us discuss it. What is wrong with wanting my brother and sister in Christ to be a "peculiar treasure" to the Lord? Let us reason together.

ARE HOBBIES, TV, SPORT, OR PC GAMES GOOD OR BAD?

For me I think when a hobby or sport, TV or PC games become bad is when they take all your time and lead us away from God and his Word of course remember the scriptures that there is always a cause and effect for everything we do. If what we do does not lead us away from believing and following God's Word then of course they are not bad.

However, the scriptures teach that it is what we behold we become changed into the same image *2 Corinthians 3:18 and we are to cast down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ *2 Corinthians 10:5. This is saying as a man thinks in his heart so is he *Proverbs 23:7 and the things we behold and dwell on can change us.

With those scriptures in mind, should we be beholding things of violence, sex, crime, war and bloodshed?

So the real test I think is where does your hobby, sport, TV or PC game lead you? Does it lead you to God or away from God? What is it you are beholding and where is it leading you? Do you think more about your sport or hobby or God? Who has the heart and who or what do you like to think about the most? Is it God or your sport or hobby?

Some make God's of these things and it has their heart and it is all they think about and they bow down to them. Others behold things that do not lead them away from God so are neither good or bad. Of course we all need some form of rest and relaxation and exercise. My time for rest is the Sabbath of God's 4th commandment *Exodus 20:8-11; Hebrews 4:1-9.

God bless everyone. May God bless you all as you seek him through His Word.
