Or to witness it happen which is what will happen to the resurrected and raptured saints who are taken to witness the battle of Armageddon happen.

I believe the flood in Matthew 24:39 is a metaphor for the Day of the Lord. Would you agree?

I have been considering your point. I`m not seeing it rule out a two event scenario. In the Luke account the apostles didn`t know where the taken were going. When they asked Jesus his answer seems to be that they are taken away as bird food. Luke 17:37

Correct.

Luk 17:35 Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Luk 17:36 Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Luk 17:37 And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together.

They know where the one left behind is, right where they were standing---but where is the one taken going---"withersoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together." The one taken is bird food.

Mat 24:38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
Mat 24:39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Again, the flood came and took them all away. The taken are those that are lost. Those that stayed in the ark, we safe.

Sure. Those taken into the Ark were saved and those left outside of the Ark died. The Ark also took Noah and his family to a safe place to rebuild.

Same with the sister story of Lot. They were also taken to a place of safety by an angel while those left back in Sodom perished.

Jesus is the ark. The taking into ark/rapture requirement is satisfied by Matthew 24:31. Afterward the flood/judgement Matthew 24:39. Then comes the taken in Matthew 24:40-41.
Why would Jesus need to give the same sign twice?
If He did then why is the second reference to 1st resurrection/rapture out of sequence?

You have described what I have and in the same chronological order. The TAKING/paralambano happens first, with people going into the Ark to be saved and after that the one left is taken/killed in a different sense than the first word "taken" using a different Greek word, airō.

I don`t read Greek so I haven`t completely understood everything you said but in general I agree with your points. However, if Matthew 24 mentions a rapture twice then one of the two verses are out of sequence with the rest of the signs. I don`t see Jesus doing that. I think I present a strong foundation for believing they are two different events. An, believing that doesn`t violate the good first, bad second rule you worked to establish.

The rapture is mentioned when Christ spoke of the angels gathering together the elect, and is also referenced as the "one taken". That doesn't violate anything. Christ gave multiple examples of what the second coming would be like, whether Noah entering the Ark, Lot escaping Sodom, or one being taken while another is not. Even when the bridegroom takes the wise virgins away, that is another rapture/one taken reference.

Again, I`m not clear on everything you said. Did you mean we are in agreement? Sorry, I`m a little slow sometimes

OK, so do you see Matthew 24:40-41 as the Rapture or as a separate event?

Let`s skip the who`s taken question for a minute.

One of the threads I`ve been tracking has been making me think about Matthew 24:40-41. Do you want to be taken or left behind at this event?

Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left."

Is this the same event as Matthew 24:31

"And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other."

Note: I already have an opinion about this so be ready to share why you believe your answer is right and I would prefer hearing from those who believe Jesus is coming back to rule the world for awhile before he melts it.

The question is my topic so let`s stay on it.
It looks to me like Jesus reigns on earth for 1000 years before the New Jerusalem and new earth appear....but yes I think those 2 events are speaking of the same event. The rapture. Are they not?

I`m trying to explore that question. Please take the time to review the thread and the scriptures that have been used. Do you believe posttrib rapture? If they are the same event it means the church will go through the tribulation & the Day of the Lord.

Ignoring the theological discussion, I fail to understand why people would want to remain in a sinful, degenerate world when they could instead be in the environment of the perfect love of God.

For me a comparable question would be do you want to be a slave living in filthy cramped conditions working in a mine dusk till dawn barely seeing daylight under a brutal slave driver or go and live in a mansion with your loving parents providing for you. That really does sum up how I see the difference between this life and being in the presence of the perfect holy God. Anyone saying stay is choosing to be the slave as they dont know any better. Im not saying I have any great insight, but people need to get an idea of what heaven will be like.

34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all these things be accomplished.

So I wonder what happened in the generation alive when Jesus was speaking.

To answer the question I want to be taken, Jesus taught that when we accept him as Lord we are accepted into his family and that they is a place for us in God's Home, In Revelation we know many will sing God's praises in Heaven and the city will be our resting place.

May only question is what will I be doing then 'forever'?

I get the sense that those taken were wicked like those taken in Noah's Flood.

Also the parable of the wheat and tares indicate the weeds will be gathered first to be burned, not sure why so many people want to be burned.

Yes, but, how do you know the taken are being taken to God`s home?

We want to be left behind.

Noah was left behind, and the wicked were taken away. So it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.

In the traditional analogy the ark is a type of Christ. It represents Christ and the flood represents Gods Judgement.

In the Noah story Noah enters the ark before the flood. Matthew 24:40-41 takes place after the flood which is mentioned in Matthew 24:39 so it`s not in the right order. In my view that means something because I don`t believe Jesus made mistakes.
